I hope we'll get multiple reveals a week. I can't stand waiting for info!

They'll most likely start soon. I've been invited by NCSoft to go hands-on with the game at the end of the month. Embargo for the articles is set on march 3rd, so that's going to be a nice day for some impressions and interviews ^^

Depending on the amount of questions I can come up with soon, I might ask you guys in the next OT for some help or questions if I still need more or better ones :)

Leaning towards "Guild Wars 2 |OT5| We've got fun and games."

Why?

I finally came up with an idea for the OT that is actually radically different than anything I've done before (or even seen on GAF) in a kind of twisted, weird way. It's going to be somewhat image-heavy (4 or 5 large images, tops), but the pay off is (hopefully) worth it when you guys see it.

That thread title is referencing the song, of course, but it's also doing a lovely little tongue-in-cheek tango with the OT concept. I've got a lot of work to do (tomorrow, it's 2am here) but it should be ready to go before we hit 20k. A lot of it is just finding the right art and then manipulating the shit out of it.

I'm so ready for the next thread! this was is awesome Retro! :D

also yeah either

Guild Wars 2 |OT5| Welcome to the Jungle
Guild Wars 2 |OT5| Don't Make Friends With Salad
Guild Wars 2 |OT5| We've got fun and games

are all perfect!

I wouldn't pug any fractal above 30, to be honest. Hopefully we can get another GAFractal group going.
I've found post-40 pugs to be really decent actually.
The players joining all know their stuff.

While fractals under that are easier, the skill level of people seems rather average.

I wouldn't mind being part of a new Gafractal, only it has to be at a reasonable hour during the week.

There are a lot of people always asking to do fractals, and I hate that I can't be there to help out every time, but once we got a group to do level 50 fractals with, it's been hard to keep from getting burned out from doing lower levels too. I've helped Thorgal on a few weekend runs, but those don't seem to happen often.

One of you is going to have to be the "new Zeroth" and be the person in charge of finding people that you can coerce into going on a regular basis.

If somebody can add me to the GAF Guild, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Outside of the reveal, I have read nothing, the only info i want to to know is, Can we use Tomes of Knowledge to instant level 80 Rev? outside of that i want to be like oh shit that is kool..

"Through the course of each day, the beleaguered Pact members will try to build up defenses and secure their positions so they have a chance of surviving the night—the deadly second phase of this map, when the Mordrem come out in overwhelming numbers."

Superior Sigils of the Night for everyone!

For example, rather than completing a jumping puzzle, an adventure may challenge you to complete that puzzle in a certain amount of time. Unlike events, however, individual performance is tracked and measured.

Kind of a poor way to try to sell that idea. I dunno.

Looks like the first bits of official HoT information have started to roll in.
Wow! Adventures seems like will have some kind of leaderboard so we can compete with other players.

The evolution of gw2 maps will be awesome from what I'm reading so far.

Here you go mini game scrubs. Oh how much I hate you all.
. As a result, you may see some activities you heard about before the launch of Guild Wars 2 make an appearance as adventures.
Stop asking about SAB now.

Haha, "remember wanting to break stuff after failing the Wintersday JP for the hundredth time? What if it was like that all the time in every zone!"

Still, adventures could be cool. I'm sad to see they've given up on dungeons and fractals but it would be great if they can make enough interesting repeatable challenging endgame content that isn't inside of an instance.

I believe Emitan is trying to suggest the use of the word 'they' in place of the phrase 'he or she' and certainly in place of 's/he', which looks like some kind of computer code. Using 'he or she' once is perfectly acceptable, though; you'll find more than a few grammar nerds who will tell you that you shouldn't use 'they' because it's plural.

So they were very emphatic that all major points of this expansion were announced at PAX, which I suppose suggests that these kind of systems(which seem fairly big and important, even new UI layers) aren't big enough to qualify. That makes me think there could be more surprises in store at least on the systems level.

Off off topic: I am not a fan of language police/nazis/whatever you want to call them. Spoken language is fluid and living. If people are saying X and it's widely understood by other speakers of that language then it's part of that language now. Deal with it

On off topic: 'They' is completely acceptable as a gender indeterminate singular pronoun and has been commonly used that way (in written word, anyways) since before Modern English

I thought she was insinuating that that account was some kind of bot/farm account with many people using it to make that kind of money.

Nope.

Jungle and masteries are boring. Tell us more about new class weapons and class mechanics, ANet.
You lost your mind? Jungle seems much cooler than any other map they have done before.

This section of blog posts makes me change my expectations on how many new zones they actually are adding.
Rather than a more traditional strategy of rapidly expanding land mass with limited content to fill it, Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will focus less on total land mass in the expansion and will instead focus on depth of content within that gameplay space. Each map will be rich in content, rich in 3-D play space, and very deep in replay value to ultimately provide more gameplay value to our players and not leave an empty wasteland of rarely played content behind.
Not expecting more than 3 new zones.

I'm excited for the jungle, just not this blog post about it. And if tomorrow's masteries blog update is as hand wavy as this one I guess I'mma snooze through that one as well.

I for one cannot wait to jump off all the things. It's one of my favourite things to do in this game (Grove is best city), followed closely by exploring new places. Deep vast jungle, this expansion was made for me. I'm so freakin hyped for the expansion and I don't even know what my main class is getting for specialization. I'll probably be excited about it no matter what it is tbh

THE HYPE IS NOT DEAD

Same. But they'll be huge, possibly larger in terms of raw space than Lornar's Pass.

It is official.

GAF Guild has forgotten how to get excited for new stuff.

I blame Cathcart and Zeroth.

Too vague so far, nothing concrete to get excited about yet, mainly because I'm wondering exactly how these features will work. Once I have a better idea of what will be different I can get excited about it.

I for one cannot wait to jump off all the things.

I want to fall all the way down, if they just teleport me back to the top without splatting (CoF Story mode I'm looking at you) I shall be furious.

Yeah, this. I'm gonna go all "squeeee" when we get more specific stuff. Right now it's just... noise.

I'm gonna head into the game for a while, and not bother with this grammar discussion :lol wtf
Haha, it's basically the han/hon/hen thing in english! :D

(In Sweden we've recently added "hen" as a gender-neutral pronoun, and some people hate it oh so much. One of the arguments is that it's an english word meaning something completely different, but those people have seemingly not had any problem with calling children "barn" their whole lives...)

A specific outpost and what it entails is not enough for you? Sheesh :p

The way they describe it is some kind of glorified way to describe events as they actually are in the game, unless they specify in which way they are truly different I don't see much to get excited about, especially when they have a tendency to 'oversell' their features in their blog posts.

Same for the last paragraph about the new challenges.

Adventures sound intriguing but the vague examples they provide don't say much either.

Can't you just death shroud / spectral walk

If I wanted to survive but that's no fun.

A specific outpost and what it entails is not enough for you? Sheesh :p

Nah, today's post was good because they're now starting to talk about how they're implementing these concepts rather than just naming them. Plus Laranthir & friends versus suspicious Pact survivors is thumbs up.
