Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines |OT| Cursed for Life

That's what I do, especially since the Secret Arts came in. You can pass those down from parent to child if they're the same trade. In addition, with new branches entering my clan, I try to keep one trade per family branch.

Found the third Instrument. I'm really digging the game so far.
I don't have any Secret Arts yet so I just gave the child my recently found Dancer trade.
Thanks for the info!

I HATE Runaway's Descent. I've the candles and everything, it's just I get so uterly lost... I needed to grind for a bit before trying my next festival, so that's helping keeping me sane while I try to find it, but this map is GAH!

I don't think this game is for me... It just seems so pointless.

You spent months getting lost and running around in maze like dungeons with no map or nothing to tell you the way. You have to draw it down and it seems to change depending of seasons... You level character but they die in average from 18 months when a dunjeon can take up to 4 months... You seem to lose all the gear that person is wearing, limiting your potential for powerleveling the new guys and thus making it hard to keep a well trained and balanced party at all time when you need to hit harder dunjeon.

Just got one shot every character from a god boss when looking for the second story boss. Out of nowhere. I was lost in the ice cave for 3 months, fighting against the rooms that are all the same next to each other with 3 exits per level and 3 levels to boot.

I love the aesthetic and battles, but I just don't get any sens of progression because nothing stays : characters come and go, loot doesn't stay, skills doesn't stay... Only town investments are something I can relate but I still can't fully understand how everything works because everything cost so much anyway. Even union rites, why paying more to unite with this god or this one ? There is no explanation of what it does less or more.

I can't find anything useful, the game isn't very new comer friendly. It's so unfocused that it let you plan all your action by the weasel : I have no idea what to do next so here, choose for me. I cant grasp any sens of progression and I get lost for hours in stupid maze levels. I get frustrated. I'm sure I'm missing tons of stuff but this game seems severely lacking a lot too, especially for a dungeon crawler. My clan, my offspring, all my babies and gods for a map, please.

Some spoilers, after the first four feasts:

So you have to go to the heptacolor hotsprings to save the princess. I was mapping it out and you reach a room with warping baths. The clues didn't make sense to me. ("??? ???? ????? ????? ???? ?? ???? ?????", I thought they might be color names but that doesnt really work), so I cheated using the wiki. The solution wasnt obvious and I don't know how it was obtained but I eventually got to the 5th major boss, Rikimaru. I was running from everything and figured I'd be waay too weak. However, a 4x Fiery Spiral and a 3x Fiery Spiral did him in. He only got one hit on my party and one-shotted one of my guys.

So I guess I progressed the story but I'm confused how that puzzle is supposed to be solved. Gonna go back and figure it out ><

Plot twist: I bought the blue one in the shop. No, really. I was the first one surprised.
I think it was in the apotecary? Dunno if you need to invest in that to some level for it to appear, is random or what, but ey... look in your shop.

Oh, weird. I also found one of the wooden tags for the cat dungeon in a foreign land shop. Tricky.

Edit: Not in the shop but I found a second wooden tag ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That seems strange to me. I haven't had any problems so far with skills, equipment, or money. Skills are learned by your clan members when they stay in town so your new members should be learning. Maybe you don't have enough clan members. Maybe you should try a new game now that you have a little more idea what to do. Just go to a dungeon and kill stuff to get equipment and skill scrolls. Make new clan members so you can have a full party and one old and new member in town. Don't forget that there is no actual time limit for killing the bosses, so just fight them when you are ready.

I do agree that dungeons can be overly complex, however you shouldn't be spending so much time in one. Your vigor is bound to get low. I only spend up to two months in a dungeon, but more often than not it's just one month. I'm also certain you don't lose gear when one of your characters dies.

Both your characters and gods have certain stats that carry over to their children making them more powerful. Ideally you shouldn't use a character all the way until they die. Use them for 18 months or so, then replace them so that you have a party of 2 or 3 stronger members and 1-2 newcomers. Also make sure their vigor doesn't get low.

Skills get passed down and you can also train your children. The weasel girl has a lot of help topics that you should check out.

I basically use a character until they hit 13/14 months or so, union, then have them train their offspring, and then they die :/

You can try and keep them alive as long as possible by keeping their vigor up above 29. According to the guide, once it gets that low, they have a chance of dying, it seems. I have to reread that section but that seems to be the case.

Here is one of my latest, if anyone wants to use her.
Also an archer...

Longest I've kept a clan member was 25 months, happened twice. A bit weird since that's over the 2 year life limit of the curse.

Did you have one of your festivals in the forest glade? I'm still stuck trying to find it in that labyrinth.

I started doing that, except I keep them in the team until about 15/16 months. On general they last 20-22 months, I think the youngest I had die was at 16 months (my first death) because he got wrecked in the first festival contest.

Ah, figured it out. A clue:

The question marks dont mean anything. They'll be replaced by the solution after you complete each puzzle in sequence. Should make sense when you get here.

I was overthinking it.

So what exactly are the conditions for having a clan member turn into an Ujigami on death? The game itself is kinda vague on the details.

I am really beginning to struggle to make progress in any of the labyrinths. They're just so confusing, and the lack of a proper map system coupled with repetitive scenery makes it even harder to find new paths.

I started over, and I got that one and Hellaway or whatever for my first two dungeons.

Good god it felt like I lost the RNG game or something. It took me a while to find my first demon festival or whatever which was in Runaway Descent. I just kept going left and eventually found it

When in doubt draw your own maps. lol =o

I think I may start doing that. I really think I may bust out the graphing paper, this game is the first in a long while I thought it might be necessary if you're going to get the most out of your time.

Yeah, it's really awful. I haven't even played the game today because I don't feel like wasting more time in there since I missed my chance this year.

Looking at the guide, there are actually 4 layout patterns per dungeon it seems. The guide gives you the features that make it unique so you can figure out which map to follow in it. I think this layout is decided when you start your game and doesn't change so a drawn map might be good for the rest of a single playthrough but not if you start over, lol.

One of my clan members has become an ujigami... But I have no clue how or why. He was a pretty kick ass archer though with two different secret arts.

Can't for the life of me find the entrance spot for the feast of all demons in the Fuji Viewing Glade. Love everything about this game besides the map layouts, tried looking at Japanese wikis but the maps on there honestly make very little sense to me.

I'm stuck in the exact same situation.

I FINALLY found the fourth festival in Runaways' Descent... now to be able to repeat it in the correct month. I drew a map, but I'm not overly confident. It did help with the exploring at least.

In case it would help someone, I have been very lucky with my Heptacolor Springs pattern, I could have spend waaaay more time on this.

In my case,
Green --> Yellow --> Green --> Yellow
led me to Kitsuto for the 3rd demon festival.

Of course we would be lucky if someone esle get the same pattern, not to mention I think Kitsuto may be waiting on another of the three ways.

If you do the simple puzzle first and go back to the board, it will give you the answer to the next. At least it did in my case.

So, what are you guys doing with Nueko? I just resurrected her and now I'm not quite sure what to do with her. Apparently I need to use her for every boss from now on, so I guess that she should probably stay in my party for most of the time so she will get stronger? I don't really want to do that, though, I've got a clan to care for after all...

I'm gonna look at that, but given the description on the board where I landed, I think I discovered directly the third path (the harder one). Luckily, that's where Kitsuto is waiting for me o/

My Nueko died for the first time and personnaly I don't intend to resurrect her until my next demon festival, which is 4 months away. Don't know if it's the right thing to do, but we'll see.

So I just start this pretty game and ... I'm stuck in a loop in the tutorial dungeon, sigh. I think I need a yellow key but I have no idea where to find that.

It's not intuitive but the key could be in another dungeon.

pretty sure you just need to back out of the dungeon and continue on with the game

Oh. Thanks. Now I feel even more stupid. I'm on the fourth month, still fighting monsters hoping they drop a key. At least I released a god, I guess?

BTW, at one time the map started glowing red and monsters starting dancing to some funky background music. Do you know what was happening and why?

That is a frenzy or something. Fight lots of monsters when that happens to get better loot drops.

She fights in my party. She's pretty good with the whip and magic.

So did anyone try out my QR codes above?

Finally found the third feast entrance. Huge difficulty spike with that boss, he targeted Nueko and then one shot her. Luckily my other members pulled through. Really like my current head (Purple haired girl), she has an heirloom weapon and 2 secret arts and hits pretty hard, also tends to counter enemy attacks a LOT. Gonna be sad to see her go.

I started the game as well a few days ago and I also feel a bit lost and overwhelmed. I'm going to stick to it because it seems from the impressions many of you in this thread are giving, once it clicks, it'll hook you until the end.

Found the entrance to the fourth feast on my first time into the Temple of the Dragon. Recommended stamina is 600 though so I'll probably need to take a year to prepare my clan.

I'm using her, dont have any jobs with a horizontal line attack ability so I find her super useful for that. I also think she adds a bit of visual variety and her stats make her pretty good as either support or a main attacker.
