You guys can stop at a 3rd playable character. No one really wants playable prequel mini games.

If the prequel mini games are anything like the classic stage based Castlevania titles, I don't think anyone will complain in having them.

It's not like they are going to take away from the main project if the funds are allocated anyways.

But, uh... wasn't that already a separate stretch goal?

$250,000 is one expensive ass mini game. And then another $250,000 to port that to handhelds? Really don't think it's worth half a mill. Save your money, unless somehow the 5 mill goal is something ridiculous.

Stretch goals don't work that way.

Each tier is not it's own thing allocated at piece meal.

Stretch goals are an incentive to get more pledges for the overall project. Also the price listed isn't an indicator how much that one thing costs,

What they're really aiming for is as high a budget as possible for as much creative freedom as possible, able to spend extra money just on making what they DO have nicer. The game and it's associated development costs aren't compartmentalized

Classic Mode could be it. However if it's one or two stages is one thing.

For example the prequel mini-game could be something the Richter portion in the beginning of Symphony of the Night. A game before the game if you will.

Or they could buy themselves some nice cars. ; )

Either way I think it's admirable to stop at 3 playable characters. This project has more than enough money behind it at this point.

If anything they'd probably help fund the game if itanages to take off. A revenue stream and hype driving vehicle after all.

I'd thought people realized by now that stretch goals are somewhat arbitrarily set and not directly related to the cost of the goal itself.

Of the many many Metroidvania inspired kickstarters, are there any that are more 'vania than Metroid? I can't remember seeing one with a gothic style.

Time for a chart update. Yesterday had the 5th best day of the campaign, and I think it's only going upwards from here. The gap with Torment is closing at the moment, but Torment had only two days left at this point, while Bloodstained still has four days. I think there's a good chance Bloodstained will dethrone it as the most funded game Kickstarter.

That would make me so happy. I waited so long for this kickstarter to hit, ever since Iga departed Konami. And getting this reception just makes the wait worth so much! Fangamer has my eternal gratitude on how everything was handled. Despite a rocky first day, they have constantly delivered with the updates and the surprises for the past month. Life is good. :)

I finally backed Bloodstained. I went in for the $125 tier. I don't think I've ever spent so much on a video game before, let alone one that doesn't yet exist.

Don't let me down, Iga!

People tend to want to put their own spin on it rather than a flat out clone of either Castlevania or Metroid. Though most of them are probably closer to Castlevania than Metroid, since they're mostly fantasy/sword/magic instead of guns/sci-fi.

Timespinner is probably the closest aesthetically to Castlevania https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lunarraygames/timespinner/description

I don't care much about the online challenge mode unless it is a full-fledged Harmony of Despair style game mode, as the prior online challenge modes were not all that interesting, and the extra playable characters, aside from the amazing Julius mode in DoS, quickly grew old due to their static nature and limited abilities, so a third character is nice, but not a huge deal, but I would love the prequel mini-game. I really enjoyed Mighty Gunvolt, even if it was ridiculously short and rather easy. I would hope it's a bit longer and deeper than that, as a stretch goal and not a freebie for two games, but I would love for it to be retro like Mighty Gunvolt as well.

Nice! I'm currently at the $60 tier. Considering going up to the $100, $125 or $150 tier but not sure I really need all that stuff.

You guys wanna hear something pointless but true?

The last name "Amano" when read out loud sounds in Spanish exactly like "a mano" which literally translates to "by hand".

As a native Spanish speaker it's something I cannot unsee or unhear. It's also kinda poetic when you think that Amano's biggest skills for what he's known for are his ilustrations, designs and drawings he does, *ahem*, by hand.

Fun fact of the day I guess. Thought I had to share that.

In a more related note I've been a backer for $60 since day one but today's update has brought me dangerously close to upping to $100.

Search deep within yourself. You're disappointed his first name wasn't Mano.

nice

Looks a million times closer to the concept then mn9 did. As expected, init creates still has it in them and it was inafune's direction that was lacking

I have a weakness for Amano so I'm pretty bummed I can't afford the Collector's Box. Can't win them all I guess.

Good Art™
Just saw the vid and wow it's actually nice looking, and so early. Now i guess not seeing the details help with the fact that it's 3D. i'm sure it feels pretty cold and low poly for now.

But i got faith now!
I'm just a little shocked at the way Iga seems like a tourist discovering what they do :p But i guess that's how being a dev star works in Japan!

That plus Bloodstained isn't even his day job right now, probably. He's got other commitments that must seem pretty worthless by now.

I wonder if egoraptor snagged the signed amano art. I know he's a huge fan of amano and missed a chance at a signed copy of something once (in line right after the cutoff point, iirc).

Would he even be backing this game to begin with? I'm not super familiar with the guy but I've check some of his stuff out and it seems like all he's ever done when talking about IGA's games is trash them. I don't get why he was part of the reveal stream.

Very smart of them to plop out that small gameplay demo, now we are no longer backing on faith alone. It's something concrete.

Personally couldn't care less about Amano, never liked his art at all. But good on the people who already grabbed the tier, those went fast.

I really wish they had this from the get go, but at least it's in place now so people can still get in if they were hesitant because of lack of progress.

I suppose the other side is people can get out too. I hope everyone is happy with it but I don't want anyone to be disappointed with how they spend thier money either.

because it's probably a placeholder copied directly from it. A lot of the minor details like how the UI will look probably won't be set in stone for a long, long time.

It's an IGA game. The placeholder needs to look like it could be used in the final game so we don't end up with menus like SoTN had.

Nice attitude. :p

I can't believe you won't pay $30 for Bloodstained. You are a problem.

People value things differently. You can't expect everyone to value games and money the same way you do.

I am actually pretty interested in them. I'd really like this to hit $5M personally.

Yeah, even though I don't think MN9 looks bad, I think that BS looking so muxh closer to the mock up and having the same Dev working on it makes Inafune look bad. Maybe that's partially personal bias though as I don't care much for him.

I don't.

But I am very critical of gamers who have devalued their own hobby so far as to make the industry unsustainable. It is unhealthy for the industry when players think they know more about the value of a game than the people designing and budgeting it.

I do not understand people who do not support their own passion. If you love games, or even like games, fucking pay for them so games can actually continue to get made. This mentality has created an artificial ceiling for indie games, which can virtually never be priced more than $14.99, and even THEN people complain.

But I guess I shouldn't be too upset, since the average pledge for this game is $82. The people funding the game certainly haven't devalued the product.

I guess I'll go angrily eat a piece of cake or something.
