None of the reviews have mentioned whether online holds up well, or if there is voice chat, just that you can play online.

I think they are the preorder bonuses from Amazon, at least. Weird that they were put up on the store like that.

I preordered it on PSN and got Showa Godzilla, 2014 Godzilla, and the diorama pack with it. I don't think anything in the description said you got those things, but there they were regardless.

Man, 1v1v1 online is pretty darn fun lol

It isn't 60 fps as expected, and it's damn right laggy at times. But it's fun. Got a video coming up where I play SpaceGodzilla vs Mecha King Ghidorah vs Battra (Larva)

Heh guess i'll stay up for this.

Btw should we get some PSN tags going since this will probably be a pretty small online community?

Also how do you do custom soundtracks for PS4 games now? Just play through the media server?

I'm not certain on the game's quality yet from gameplay videos- but man, there are just so many little things that appeal to the Godzilla fanatic in me to not buy this.

I didn't even realize this releAsed today and forgot to order. Mistake corrected. Looks like a game I'll love despite the flaws.

Even Angry Joe is hating on it on Twitter. Is this just one of those games that some people will get and some people won't?

I'll be honest, this game is pretty bad and quite repetitive with not-so-good graphics on PS4 (upscaled PS3 game), BUT...

If you're a fan of Godzilla/Kaiju monsters and just wanna wreck stuff, this game was made for you. It's not a game that's in-depth with its combat mechanics and overall design, but it's just a game to get you right into the action and start kicking ass offline or online.

This about covers it. A non-fan has about as much chance of enjoying it as I do of enjoying one of those Naruto or Dragonball Z fighters. The fanservice makes up for the lack of interesting mechanics.

I can agree with that. Games like Destroy All Monster Melee is all about the monster fights and has an enjoyable fighting engine to it whereas this one is very different and much more niche. It gives you the movie elements of being Godzilla and destroying a city while fighting off monsters. However, the controls are very different and a little hard to grasp at first and the main campaign is a bit shallow. It feels like a $40-$20 game, not $60. It's got it's quirks, but the things that work, work so well. In short, it's a Japanese licensed title. They're not always great, but they usually don't COMPLETELY suck.

Yeah, it's a pretty standard Japanese licensed title in terms of quality but it nails the fan service. $60 is a bit much for most people but it's a good time for kaiju fans.

I was thinking this would be an easy platinum until I realized there was a trophy for fully upgrading all kaiju. NOPE

I've played through God of Destruction four times and King of Kaiju once and only been able to afford a single upgrade for Godzilla.

I'm stunned this is coming out this week. None of the local retailers in my country have any indication that this was releasing!
Hopefully the wait for retail is not too long down here but damn am I hyped.

I'm leaving my PSN ID here, if anyone wants to have some multiplayer fun later.

PSN: Borque

About the reviews. I kinda understand the bad scores for two reasons:

1. Ultra niche title, IMO

2. Budget title, even though you can see there was a lot of love poured into this game and its full of fanservice, I suppose that you can only do that much with what you get.

Obviously the graphics stand out as not being that impressive, but whatever.

Either way, I bet this game is quite more polished and is far more bug free than most triple A titles. This is just a feeling based on footage watched though. So I could be wrong.

In any case I get the game through the mail today and can't wait to duke it out with some of the most famous kaijus ever.

I am a huge Godzilla fan and I'm thinking of picking up the PS3 version tomorrow because a PS3 is all I have, now if I do pick it up will there be any important exclusive features I'm going to miss out on, or should I just wait for sometime in the future and buy it when I'm able to get my hands on a PS4?

I think multiplayer is exclusive to the ps4 version

This is going to be the best selling 4/10 game ever.

Kinda wish the animations looked more like guys in suits.

And you could fight until they just rampage through the movie set.

I can live without the multiplayer, if that's the only thing then this game is a definite purchase, thanks.

I believe the ability to play as many of the characters is also a PS4-only thing, as only one Godzilla was playable in the PS3 version.

It was mentioned that the preorder bonuses / store items are just early unlocks and everything is unlockable without any downloads via normal play.

Godzilla 2014 is way overpowered. Most monsters are around 60-70 MM in size to start. Your size determines your power. Playing in campaign mode can increase the size and you can also upgrade using the Evolution mode. However, Goji 2014 STARTS at the maximum size of 100 MM making him way OP. He should be excluded from online multiplayer.

Destroyah is basically invincible in God of Destruction mode. Even if I meet him at 100m, he's impossible to stun or combo. Really annoying.

Whoa wait what!? How many are limited? This just seriously affected my choice.

I think the PS3 version is limited to just the basic Godzillas as playable characters, while the PS4 one adds new monsters and allows you to play as all of the ones you fight as long as you unlock them.

Picked this game up last night. Other than the odd controls I'm enjoying it. I have a feeling this is going to be one of those underrated gems or at least have a cult following. It's one of the best Godzilla games I've played.

ProTip: If you're having trouble doing damage, experiment with Roar + Special Attack in various forms. Many monsters can cancel their roar into their special, resulting in a stronger attack that does vastly more damage and autotargets better. Of particular note are Godzilla, who fires an extended super blast, and King Ghidorah, who actually lines all three heads up and concentrates fire in one direction rather than blasting randomly all over like he does normally. I just finished a hard run with Godzilla who ended up at 108m, and in the final fight against Burning Godzilla it only took three roar-canceled blasts to kill him. The concentrated shot plus the dive attack (triangle while flying) also makes Ghidorah a decent choice for the "complete King of Kaiju in under 6 minutes" trophy.

One other Ghidorah tip: Fire off lasers while flying over a generator to toast it in one shot.

Is there actually a timer in God of Destruction mode? I heard it talked about yesterday but I haven't seen it, though I haven't played Hard yet.

It isn't until later Hard levels ACSand by then you can destroy them easily so the timer is pointless

Great advice on the Roar + Special, the game should really tell you that.

Just finished a run at 110. 39m and thought that was really good... Until I checked the leaderboards. How the hell are people getting to 120m?! I'm in the top 100 and that's higher than any other game I've played so I can't complain.

I'm still yet to fight Jet Jaguar :(
