Assassin's Creed Syndicate Review Thread

Now with all the reviews!

I wouldn't mind another "Ubisoft-Game" (open world, collecting stuff, unlocking towers, conquering outposts / zones) for the cold months until christmas, to just turn off my brain, listen to podcasts and kill some dudes.

If the mechanics are reasonably tight, there's no tacked on Multiplayer and there's plenty of mindless collecting to satisfy my completionist desires, i see myself giving this game a shot, even if it's just a 75 on Metacritic.

Dying Light is a 74 and i thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was.

Tacked on? The AC multiplayer was one of the most unique I've ever played.

Here's the problem with numbering scales for me. IGN gave the broken piece of trash Unity a 7.8 while giving this one an 8.2. But then you read this from their Verdict:

Black Flag is terrific. But according to your score, you're saying Syndicate is only slightly better than Unity. I'll wait to see GAF complain about it. I'd like to play this game but I'm not going by reviews after Unity.

The person who reviewed syndicate is not the same as the one who reviewed black flag and unity

Can't believe how some outlets can give this a 9. That's bordering on dishonest, seriously WTF?

Is this a new meme where you can't give a game a 9 anymore? First MGS V, then AC: Syndicate. If Just Cause gets anything above an 8.8 there's gonna be hell to pay.

Higher than Unity but still lower than the average for the rest of the series. At least that's a half step to recovery.

Seems like the bigger sites are all very impressed with it while the smaller review sites are taking issue with it. Is the game is really that divisive? When Game Informer gives it a 9 and someone else gives it a 5? What' going on here?

But then when you have some sites listing "no multiplayer" as a negative, I know what to think of that review. For me, no multiplayer is a plus. Get that junk out of the game and focus on the single player campaign.

Lol come on.

I've still got no plans to get it at launch (I simply can't justify it in this busy release season), but I'm glad it's getting mostly positive reviews. I've still got a soft spot for a solid AC game, even if the feeling isn't as strong as it used to be.

Gamepro.de a very suprising 87.

[a quick and dirty pro-/contra translation]

+ lively, visually impressive London
+ beautiful soundtrack, successful setting
+ great facial animations
+ great-designed missions with good variation
+ good working game mechanics
+ motivating conquest of london territories.
+ working raw material and money management
+ stealth is an alternative to combat
+ game is demanding (difficulty wise) for the most parts
+ good structured story
+ many memorable characters
+ sympathetic heros
+ many main and side missions
+ dozens of optional activities
+ new bonus missions after first playthrough
+ gigantic game world

- looks worse than its predecessor
- german dubbing often out of sync
- trivial collecting
- to easy final chapter(s)
- present time story is silly/trival
- plot holes

overall sounds better then unity.

Yeah I think that's it. Some people don't mind, some do. The ones I saw in Videogamer's video wouldn't bother me. Did you see any others that were worse?

Honestly it really is. Like I said I had a blast but the bugs held it back. IF someone saw less then they get to experience more of that and there are some very solid improvements here all around.

My major one is in the video-
I had 1 really bad experience that sort of hinged the review. There is a mission to take someone to the police station and many times entering the station it either.
Turned the world jet black
Spawned bad guys in the station making it impossible to complete.
The carriage would flip straight into the air.

That section HAS to have some issue and I bet it gets patched asap.

While there are still blemishes that stop it matching the heights of Brotherhood or even Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate restores faith in the series by delivering a highly enjoyable open-world experience. Jacob & Evie make for entertaining characters in a beautifully crafted Victorian London filled with content that will keep you busy for weeks.

That bullet list is literally a perfect assassin's Creed game

Is this first time a sequel actually is purported to look worse than its predecessor? Weird. Personally, from the footage I have seen I don't think it looks worse. In fact, it seems a bit more visually polished to me. Unity had terrible draw distance. Things up close looked nice, but background detail was jarring.

hmm if the pc-port turns out to be good I will buy this. always wanted to try an AC game and the settings is appealing to me.

I am so stupid. I am currently thinking about buying it, although yesterday I wrote here: not buying on release date.

To be honest I love London and I am in the mood for exploring it. Reviews sounds good, but who knows?

Well apparently Syndicate shapeshifts into Unity sometimes seeing that there's a review from Playstation Life Style on Metacritic that clearly is about Unity and not Syndicate.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot.

Lots of comparisons to Brotherhood, I can get down with that.

Seems it has far less issues than I've forgiven in past titles so I'll definitely be playing this when the price is right. I'm willing to look past a lot in AC games because I always love the settings.

Settings is what makes these, and the ability to experience them.

This one has a very unique setting, a hypercool main base, and train robberies. What more can you expect!
