This the time I'm glad I live like SURROUNDED by grass/undeveloped land. I would hate to be in houston right now
I'm in San Antonio it doesn't take much for us to flood here. Just have to wait it out and stay off the streets. The drought doesn't help at times like this either.

The fuck did this Hurricane come from. One minute nothing then today MOST POWERFUL HURRICANE EVER HOLY SHIT RUN MEXICO.

And I consider myself up to date on weather related stuff.

So, question: what does it mean that this is the strongest hurricane that could conceivably be produced on Earth, exactly? Is it just water levels / temperatures / atmospheric conditions? I assume that "cap" has to be fluid in accordance with global warming.

hurricane hunter either has damage or hail could be a concern, convective core is exploding right now according to those in the know on reddit.

You can see the burst of the light green at the end of the loop indicating colder cloud tops which usually means more intense convection and an intensifying storm. It had been a little weaker before that.

Monster storm, last minute intensification just before landfall, will deliver a frightful punch.

A colleague of mine is in Mexico at the moment.

Everyone was telling her not to go due to it being hurricane season...

I feel bad for even considering the government will somehow use this disaster to divert attention from other important issies for months to come. At least we can get together as a country after these kind of disasters time after time.
The saddest part is that the most affected will be those that have less, thousands of families will lose everything they have, every fucking thing.

I live way south in Tabasco,, we're used to flooding here and it looks like this year we'll be safe from those.

Stay safe fellow mexicanos.
