I mean, I think you're right, I just don't see it being anywhere near as (comic)
BAM! as in the comic.
I definitely agree with you here. Massive Comic Spoilers:
I really want it to happen just like it did in the comics because I hate Jessie but having Rick do that to show Jessie will only make him look even more psychotic. He pursued this woman from day one, killed her husband after fighting him in the streets, then a day after maybe consummating a relationship, he chops off her hand and leaves her to die in a herd of walkers. That's pretty brutal (but I still want it to happen).

(comic)
Eh, I think we need to actually see a substantial relationship between those two for her death in that specific situation to make any sort of real impact.
I disagree. I think her character had become important enough that her death will have a real impact. At least as big as Noah's.
show speculation/comics:
I just don't see her family living because the Ron shit is gonna go down. And after that bomb drops that kid gon die. And once he does it just doesn't seem feasible to me that the rest of the family would be able to move forward. Also that little kid is probably gonna get it too. I guess I could see Jessie being the lone survivor in her family but it seems like a long shot.
if she lives while her children die she'll be massively fucking depressed, though. She should die with them.

Rick waited too long. This is on him. At least Spencer tried to become fresh meat for the zombies so they have more time to figure it out, and Rick wasted that too.

Major comic spoilers
it would've been nice for them to show at least Rick and Jessie sleeping together to make the chopping off the hand scene that more devastating. But idk I have a hard time calling what they have together a real relationship even in the comics it never really got super serious. They slept together and then didn't want anyone finding out about it yet cause what people would think.

They were definitely more serious with each other in the comics but I think the show will be okay. Simply cause I always thought that the scene was more to show how far Rick is willing to go to save his son. i feel like if they really wanted people to be upset over who Rick sacrifices then they would've never used Jessie. That's just my opinion tho cause I never liked her in the comics or the show really.

As long as spoiler tags are labelled correctly there should be no problem.

Oh and...

I don't hate the boy because he doesn't know better. It's the mother who's the idiot. Stop babying this fucking kid. This is the world you live in now. Stop telling him to imagine he's somewhere else, there is nowhere else! You're not protecting him by sheltering him!

That whole family is a perfect example of why Alexandrians were sitting ducks. Fingers in their ears if-I-don't-see-it-it-doesn't-exist myopia. Ugh.

Fucking exactly man! Idk why she keeps giving this bullshit advice "pretend your brave" or whatever she says. Like the kid is definitely old enough to be taught how to use a gun and be shown what the world is really like. Instead he's locked inside his room coloring?!?! Stupid Jessie.

there is but how is speculation and overall discussion supposed to happen here without bringing in predictions that contain spoilers?

If I'm being honest? The way it does in shows without a source material? Sometimes even the non-spoilered parts can lead to inferences about characters/arcs I'd rather not have as somebody who only watches the show.

right, but when they say "ratings" do they mean amount in viewership? I thought it was supposed to mean critical reception.
Ratings refers to viewership in numbers.

I agree that no one should have expected anything else from that boy. How does pretending you're someone who's brave work anyway? Still, I can only imagine the absolute horror at hearing him speak 10 feet from the porch in the middle of a herd of walkers. They should have taped his mouth shut or something.

that is true. the kid is like 10 or something but the thing is, as scared as he is, how the fuck could he not know at that point that he has to be fucking silent?!

...okay but that doesn't really apply here given the fact that this show is one with a source material. If the non-spoilered parts is enough for you to go off of then more power to you but I think those who are having discussions here with spoiler tags have merit to do so.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.

I think the kids (both Sam & Ron) may've also inherited some bad blood from their father though. Like, Sam is a bit deranged for wanting to kill Carl when his safezone just became infested. Like, what the fuck dude if you're going to do something evil and crazy can't it wait?

As well, Sam seems pretty vulnerable and the fucking thing Carol planted in his head clearly had a lasting effect on him seeing as how he was drawing a picture of it.

Yeah who knows what that porchdick did to his kids if he beat his wife. Though Ron was born to be a douche you can just tell. It's probably in the genes.

lol

but yeah, I agree. the guy is literally stupid.

rick killed his father, but then saved his life (from falling into the canyon of walkers).
carl "stole" his girlfriend, but then saved his life (from a wolf)

and out of spite, this fucking mothafucker wants to kill them both? and attempts to during a zombie infestation? fuck him.

I'm just praying Ron does some stupid shit and then Rick gathers everyone including Jessie and pulls this exact line and delivery. I feel like Andy Lincoln can do it.

I don't understand why Jessie's kids both have the worst hair in existence when she is supposed to be Alexandria's hair dresser. Please AMC you're ruining my immersion. #plotholes

haha

also another thing going off of what you said, carol did suggest to rick that maybe pete was beating sam (and ron?) along with jessie.

she was gonna give ron a haircut that one time but he refused because rick, is dangerous.
Not quite. Carl and Daryl still exist.

i wish my hair looked like that. i might cut it all off tomorrow.

I originally had the same sentiment as you, Ratsky, but after pondering it some more... I actually feel like there is more love and affection between Rick and Jessie in the show compared to the comic. In the latter, Jessie kind of just comes over and throws herself on Rick after he killed her husband. It was never really hinted that Rick had legit feelings for her like he did in the show. It feels a lot more lustful and superficial in hindsight and compared to the slow buildup starting back in Season 5, Part 2 that happened between the two on the show.

I'm sure it'll definitely hit people who haven't read the comics just as hard and it might even get a surprising emotional reaction out of those of us who have. I think it might feel even more impactful for me when I watch it. Here's to hoping!

P.S.

git fukin HYPED ya'll

[Comic Spoilers]
But what fans really want to know is just how the comic book character will translate on screen. "As far as I know, it's going to be very much parallel to the comic books," Morgan hints. "If you know what's coming, then I don't have to tell you."

Translation: Somebody will be on the receiving end of Negan's famous barb wire-wrapped baseball bat named Lucille. "I'm no p---y! I don't mind handling a baseball bat!" Morgan says with a laugh. "I feel real comfortable with Lucille in my hands, let's say that."

  • Carol's current weapon of choice is the trench knife, distinctive for its integrated knuckle guard. However, Melissa McBride considers Carol's ability to adapt to be her deadliest weapon.
  • There were four “Impaled Walkers” among the invading herd. These walkers are a tribute to a classic kill from the horror movie The Omen.
  • This was Seth Gilliam's first experience working with such a large number of walkers. “It was kind of like Black Friday, except everyone was a walker.”

if deanna didn't bite the bullet, is it possible she'll turn? for some reasons zombies don't really go for the brains in this show. they eat up the person's body and leave head in tact for that person to become a zombie later.

I wouldn't doubt theres a scene where after all the dust settles someone is doing "cleanup" and finds her.

Michonne could find her as a living walker that has no ability to move because they got mostly eaten, so she has to put her sword through her skull.

It'd even count as a callback:

yeah that's what i'm thinking too. i don't really like seeing those scenes though. we already saw one two episodes ago when glenn put down that guy who was supposed to deliver a message to his wife.

I can't see how she didn't die in that situation. She was injured, and rushing a group of zombies in a hallway.

But, the lack of showing the gruesome details of the death and her being torn apart does hint to me she'll show up at some point later as a zombie.

As for zombies not going for the brain, they seem to be eager to just eat any kind of tissue in this universe, whether it be flesh or organs. The brain itself is actually hard to get at relative to everything else being encased in the skull. Almost everywhere else on the human body is easier to get a bite out of than the brain. I'd imagine they'd happily be chowing down on it if somebody split their head open though.

I didn't suggest she won't die. I suggested since zombies in this show seem to just now go for the brain, that she'll become one instead of be dead once they're done dealing with the horde.

The image of Hershal with the walker eyes is still sort of heartbreaking, even though he was never among my favorite characters. Seeing a walker Deanna isn't going to bother me one bit though. I simply could not care less about her in life, death, or undeath.

lol damn, that's harsh man. deanna was one of my favorite characters, probably because (imo) the actress did a pretty great job.

I thought Deanna was a good character...but she could have had more development and killed her off at the end of the part B finale

I liked Deanna too. Her actor was great and I legit felt bad for her at the end of the season. We saw her character just slowly die in every passing episode and by the end of the season, she was pretty much dead inside. It was sad ;(

Okay, I caught up. Why am I still watching this show? I feel like I'm rubbernecking a car wreck these days, it's getting worse and the plot isn't going anywhere. And Carl is still a terrible actor, he can't use youth as an excuse anymore, they need to kill him off ASAP.

I think the actor is fine these days, even kinda decent in that latest episode.

Unfortunately for you he's the safest character in the franchise. No chance of him dying until the final season unless the actor wants to leave the show.

I'm pretty sure Rick will die before Carl and I'm ok with that. I'm not crazy about the kid but he seems to have the hardness of Rick and crew but still have a bit of humanity ala Morgan/Glenn/Maggie. He's pretty well-adjusted considering how crappy his life has been.

I still kinda wish Glenn died. I just cant get over the dumpster save :(

I mean the dude doesn't even have plot armor. He just wants Maggie. No reason to bring him back. Maggie belongs to the Ricktator.

I hate the scene because it's such an awful cheat. Even ignoring the fact that Glenn (with Nicholas on top of him) falls from a height that could have at least caused him severe injuries (if not flat out broke his back), there's still the fact that we see Nicholas and Glenn falling at an angle in which it would have been impossible for Glenn's head to be so close to the dumpster. It makes no sense, and it's made even worse by using the sad Bear McCreary music and removing Steven Yeun from the credits. It's one of those things that sound incredibly clever on paper, but it's not until you see the finished product that you realize you fucked up.

I'm torn at which is the worse cheat, though. This, or "Daryl and Carol in a truck fall down a bridge yet everything is okay".
