I also had problems with that suit as well. I didn't realize until I watched the making of documentary that Routh actually bulked up a lot for that role but none of that comes across because the suit is strangely, intentionally slimming. Routh is tall and long and that would have worked well with his bulk for portraying Superman, but the suit hid all that away.

Is there a link for that?

I should watch Spider-Man 3 again.

Just because of this.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I wanted this movie to be good, but due to it being another Snyder film, was expecting it to be 100% style over substance and completely overblown, just like every single film he's done aside from Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen.

I was absolutely bored to tears watching 300, and Man of Steel was just awful.

I remember when Snyder made a good film.

That was back in 2004 though.

Mostly agree, but Watchmen was actually a fairly decent movie all around. It had his now typical "Snyder style", but he actually tried with that film too.

People put waaaay too much weight into RT. I'm glad that it exists, but my goodness, it is NOT a good metric for the quality of the movie. For example, people keep going on about Zootopia having a 99% RT score, but the actual rating average is 8.1. Still great, but not so crazy sounding as a "99%". Deadpool is 84% certified fresh, but the rating average is 6.9. Brothers Grimsby has a 38% RT score with a rating average of 4.7, while BvS has a 33% RT score with a rating average of 5.2.

Basically, all of these little RT comparisons and putting so much weight on RT score is just kind of silly. It doesn't seem to be a universally good movie, but saying it's a 33% makes it sound worse than it actually is.

The RT% is getting dangerously close to Pootie Tang.
So BvS will end up being a jewel in the rough. misunderstood because of studio tampering, rough marketing and a goofy white guy director with some crazy ideas.

The main problem with Superman Returns was the plot and the script. Had those things been good Routh would have made a a good run at it imo.

It had problems but i still like returns more than MOS. The scene where he stops the airplane is one of my favorite superhero moments in movies ever.

That scene is wonderful, and will hold up indefinitely

So what phase are we at now? It's definitely not acceptance, that's for sure.
No worldly idea. I'm kind of still in disbelief. Granted I need to see it for myself and form an opinion but just going by reviews, how did they get it so wrong? I don't want to believe it's really that bad.

Japan and the US are the only country who suffered massive attacks on their civilians?
Like what?
And even when talking strictly about cinema, post WWII European films dealt with those issues quite a lot, and at least in my opinion, waaaaaaaaaaay better than Japanese cinema (or post 9/11 American cinema, though I don't see as a whole lot of parallels between the two).
I'm not sure I'm seeing this post 9/11 rise of nihilism either, did he already forgot the 80s? I mean sheeeeit RoboCop is way more nihilist than anything Zack Snyder or Christopher Nolan can dream of.
And even if you we go by simplistic shallow nihilism, stuff like Fight Club have done it and done it on the fucking nose before the world trade center collapsed.

Yeah, Zack Snyder uses 9/11 imagery, I think he does mostly because it's an easy way to evoke fear, I don't like to call on the writer as someone who read too much into these things because I don't think you can really do that (also I generally love over-analyze that stuff) but I can't say his analysis really resonate with me, even though it's really well written.

I'm also not sure he really remembers Cassandra's story all that well, but that's a minor point.

Universal healthcare and an overall strong safety net already gave us the most nihilistic of all art forms in Scandinavian black metal. Hiroshima and 9/11 are pretty weak in comparison.

Like Hugh Jackman, Reeve's build grew larger in later films when he had time to pack on the muscle. He's buff in Superman 3 and 4.

yeah, Superman 1 and 2 were filmed back to back so he's the same size in both. He was pretty jacked in 3. Reeve really was genetically the perfect Superman.

If he had access to the same trainers/equipment/"supplements" as Cavill today, he'd be an even more comic book identical Superman than he already was. but tbh, I don't really need movie Superman to look so incredibly jacked.

I wish ironman 3 was good. It is a true shame what they did with the extremis since it made little sense and it was so pointless to include it in the film since they could have easily done better without having to force it into the movie

You just gotta go into with the mindset that it's a Shane Black comedy with Marvel product placement, then it's fantastic

Iron Man 3 was a Shane Black buddy comedy which means it was fucking amazing, sir.

I think it was a good movie to be honest. It was like a big fuck you to the superhero movie genre. A superhero movie with no superhero or supervillain.

Iron Man 3 was dogshit.

I mean it's actually a pretty good representation of the comic character in that he jobs and jobs hard, but coming off IM1 and The Avengers, it was such a massive disappointment.

You keep thinking it's going to get awesome, and then it just never does. The suit malfunctions... again. Runs out of battery power again. Gets blown apart by a truck like its a Frogger arcade machine.

Absolute dogshit.

It's funny that people complain Marvel movies are too cookie cutter, then get one that is absolutely the product of its director, and those same people don't like it.

Eh, I think a lot of those critics you mention (*raises hand*) actually really do like Iron Man 3.

I love it, actually.
Making Marvel themselves the big villain still amazes me.

I guess but I am not sure if that makes a movie fantastic that I have to rearrange my train of thought in order to enjoy it. I say this as an Ironman fan and it just really bothered me how they totally ruined extremis. Feels like that in itself made it so I couldn't enjoy the movie. Extremis is by far my favorite storyline with ironman. So if anything, I have a different perspective on this than yall.

FOR THE RECORD I LIKED IRONMAN 3. Just didnt find it to be a good movie. Basically my order is 1>2>3

We back to the Iron Man 3 debate?

It's a good movie. Certainly nowhere near the shitty side of the MCU with Iron Man 2 and the Thor movies.
