You guys ready for another blackface thread? No? You're tired of blackface threads you say? But it's got all your favorite posters...

The "people get offended by anything" guy:

The "in 2016" fella:

"It's not offensive because I say so" dude:

And so much more... How can you possibly get tired of these posters? They are like the hot sauce in Hillary's bag.

Don't forget the, "oh, you're just being overly sensitive" guy:

this is offensive? You guys need to relax a bit

I don't give a fuck about a Snapchat filter. Snapchat has some of the wierdest/wackest filters I have ever seen that turn people into white women, dogs, fish, etc. Bob was a legendary weed smoker and it fits right into their "Wacky" strategy. Next year they can use Cheech and Chong if you have two people. As I said in the thread, I am more upset that Bob's estate co-signs on every single business opp presented to them.

Maybe it is because I have been dealing with life and death situations down here in these floods, but I don't have the energy to get amped up over snapchat.

The funny thing is I haven't even seen a poster come in and say any variation of "this is offensive" yet. But we already have all the usual "who cares" defense responses without them chiming in.

Like I said in the thread:

The only thing a lot of stoners know about Jamaica is weed, dreadlocks, and Bob Marley. It angers me profusely that they have reduced Bob Marley to this weed icon. For me it's like turning 2Pac into nothing but a Hennessey icon. I find it no different than how many treat Asian cultures and it bothers me in how two dimensional it is. It's one of the prime reasons I grimace when I see a white person with dreadlocks. More than likely, you have no culture tie to black people or Jamaica, and a lot of people wear them because lol 4/20 or weed culture, and I don't appreciate culture becoming reductionist and to consumed like it's some fad. It is superficial and shallow.

That filter doesn't offend me in that it's black face, because to me it really isn't. But it does bother me that in popular culture they find it suitable to make a man's legacy into weed worship.

I love weed, but the culture behind it is some of the lowest of the low and this filter isn't exactly doing much to convince me otherwise.

Personally I'm with Storm on it just being corny IMO, although I do see why someone would be offended by it and would have at least removed the skin color changes from the filter. That said the "I don't find it offensive, therefore it's not offensive" posts in blackface/black issue threads all the time get old.

Lmao.

I'm black, that just straight up isn't offensive.

So you're the "people get offended by anything" guy AND the "I'm black, therefore it isn't offensive" guy? Missed out on a 2 for 1 combo deal.

Blame his estate for that. They okay all that bullshit. They are fine with latching Bob to weed and weed only because it pays. 2Pac's estate has been careful about what he is attached to. Hell, I think Powerade is one of the few things they approved. That commercial is dope as hell though, until you realize what it is for.

I thought until recently they didn't make money off of Bob's image on merch?

Yes, and now you see his on weed wrappers, this snapchat crap, some other weed-related things. If I find the time I will try to get the article that was extremely critical of what they were approving/getting paid from. I know I saw something in the grocery store that had his name on it that had zero to do with him. My overall point is that if you are in charge of an estate, you need to not only consider monetary gain, but think about legacy as well.

SMH.

Bob Marley was a weed icon before this though, but they've seem to have taken it and just ran with it.

Good to know, I guess? Anything else or is this a hit and run?

I don't find it offensive, and it's weird to be called the "People get offended by everything guy" when I don't even post in threads about race or shit like that. Anyway yeah, I wasn't gonna stick around, was just checking who quoted me and saw this. Didn't even know there was a black culture thread.

If this were reddit Puruzi's post would be voted to the top of the thread. "See? Some of them get it!" Sometimes it's to the point where you think "is that person really black like they claim?"

Cut em out entirely! It'll make it easier. Once you get over the legitimate withdrawals, you'll feel flatter and great. That's when you go on autopilot.

Also consider this IIFYM - hard salami from a deli with spicy sabra hummus. It's the best.
Going to have to try that. I'm going through the withdrawals now. Its sucks ass.

Eating pepperoni and cheese as a snack is not fun.
