Overwatch |OT2| A New Low in Unlocking and Microtransaction Systems

Out of the 21 playable heroes in Overwatch, who are the characters you guys have the most problems/issues playing as?

Genji, Torbjorn, & the Tank Heroes that are not Zarya are the are the characters I have most difficulty with. Genji's neither as agile as Tracer in combat, nor does he deal damage as quickly as Reaper or McCree, & I generally suck when it comes to flanking or harassing foes. For Torbjorn, it's due to how to deploy his gear and armour packs most effectively, as well as him not being all that effective without his turret & being better suited with teamwork.

The Tank Heroes are weird, as I had no problems with picking up Zarya and becoming a force of nature with her. But I find Roadhog to be too slow & sluggish, Reinhardt being too defense-oriented, D.Va being too predictable, or Winston not being as durable and limited at close range with his equipment.

I have a lot of issues with Genji and McCree on offense - Genji I haven't found his sweet spot yet and I'm also terrible at aiming with his reflect. McCree I always just end up getting toasted by somebody before I can get into a groove, or I mistime a dodge and just get slammed.

I also have issues with D.Va and Hanzo - for D.Va I cannot for the life of me get her range right on her weapons. I think I'm at a good spot and instead I do next to nothing and the person I'm up against wastes me. As for Hanzo, I'm terrible at sniping without a scope and I'm not a fire arrows indiscriminately kinda guy so I can never pull off headshots like I'm supposed to with him.

shhhh don't tell people this, I love all my sneaky back-alley approaches to Volskaya B and you're going to ruin them if you tell people to wise up!

I think Symmetra's turrets are okay as-is. In order to do significant damage you need to stack them, and they explode if you look at them funny. The only reason they're potent at all is because they're easy to hide, so they're good for ambushes but are a poor substitute for an actual defense. If you die to her turrets more than once in an area, either you're not paying attention or the person playing her is smart.

I average 15 plus kills a game with her turrets alone... i'll move them after the initial breach on defense... super, super easy to get kills. I just find they really ruin the flow of general gameplay and are really annoying. I love them on defense but i'd rather she just be gone.

The only thing I'd like to see changed about Torb is that he doesn't get credit towards his Ult when his turret is the only thing that touches a target.

Something about that rubs me the wrong way.

Yeah Torb's turrets are just trash. Far too fast... full 360... tons of damage and no reloading. I'd just like to see him gone... or at the very least put a 180 degree limit on them AS WELL AS a cool down after destruction on the next placement. He's such a troll character.

These passive kill turrets in general just really throw a wrench into what is a very smooth player vs player game. AI controlled turrets everywhere with 3 Torbs on the other team is shit.

Thinking about the loot boxes some more and I would guess that voice lines, emotes, victory poses, intros and costumes are all stuff that the majority of people are interested in

So, one thing that could have improved the boxes and cut down on the whining is if Blizzard had launched with more cosmetics ready, and just done away with sprays and player icons (or put their distribution into a separate system). Too bad I guess.

After playing a few rounds of the brawl, I've had it confirmed to myself that I am absolutely useless as Hanzo. Something about trying to aim those arrows just never seems to click for me, and I spend a lot of time jumping at walls trying to climb up them and looking like an idiot.

Yea I feel like I'm missing something with close range weapons. Anytime I'm playing as Reaper, D Va, or even Zarya using her primary fire, I can be close enough to the enemy whisper in their ear but the shots feel like they're missing most of the time. Like I can't even kill a Widowmaker consistently as D Va after sneaking up behind them because they usually notice the one pellet hitting them and just peace out.

I like sprays. I use them, and see them, more often than any other cosmetic icon. Sprays and emotes, that's what I like.

Out of the entire cast the only ones I don't play are Hanzo, Mei and D-Va. But rather than not understanding them I just don't have any reason to play them.
Of course, I've found legendary skins for all of them.

In D-Va's case I know how to play her I just don't see why I would use her over other characters. Particularly Winston. My friend also uses her almost all the time so even when I feel like changing things up, I'm usually in a match with him anyways.

Hanzo, even when I land hits with his primary I feel like I didn't deserve it. I think I've gotten POTG on him every time I've played him and it was totally by accident. Scatter arrow also simply doesn't work for me. I fire it at people's feet and, well, last time they bounced straight back at ME. I've been instakilled by other people using scatter a million times and whenever they shoot it, all the arrows just bounce into my character without fail. I don't think I've ever managed to kill a single person with scatter arrow doing the exact same thing that other Hanzos do. If I'm going to play a sniper I'm going to play the one that is fun and not luck-based.

I've only played Mei a few times and while I understand her fine, like with D-Va I just never swap to her because she doesn't fill a niche that I need at any given moment. Most times that I might play Mei, I'd rather be on Zarya.

After a while of playing the game, even when you don't use the characters yourself you get plenty of experience watching others use them. My first time on McCree I thought his primary use was to land pistol headshots like a handcannon in Destiny - it went poorly. After being killed by flashbang/fan the hammer a few times I was like 'oh, so that's how you use him' and I could now play McCree.

Be a tank or support then!

Or just be Hanzo. Most of my Hanzos have shit-tier aim anyways, so you'll fit in ;)

I'm also bad at tank. 6W 17L as Rein lmao

Support I'm OK at I guess but it isn't that fun =( I want to kill people

Be mercy or reinhardt? :p

I've tried. I'm crazy bad

I wish there was a traditional system to show individual scores, that way I could know who was playing shitty.

How would you score stuff though? K:D doesnt account for quite a few characters who all could have been playing well/as they were supposed to.

I'm really starting to hate playing with randoms. It's one thing to suck at the game, everyone sucks for a while. but god damn, nobody wants to communicate OR coordinate in randoms. It's a complete crapshoot.

US PC team player who uses a microphone. I usually play as McCree but I'm learning Reinhart, Junkrat, and Mercy. My username is 'Desiac', my number is #1220. Anyone wanna add me? Is there a place here where I can add a shitload of like-minded players so I don't have to deal with terrible rando teams so much?

You sound like a person who needs some Junkrat love. Your aim doesn't have to be perfect. The trick is figuring out choke points and filling them with bombs. Throw mines at flankers and blow them up in their faces while you run away. I prefer to play Junk up front like an insane fearless lunatic, but you can also hang back and drop covering fire to herd the opposing team.

McCree is just about either getting a shot off with the LMB (or whatever primary fire in on consoles) when you aren't close and getting into a position where you can Fan the Hammer and wreck someone's day. Usually a Tracer, a Soldier, sometimes a predictable Pharah but especially healers.

Sometimes I will plan an ambush and let everyone pass by just so I can get in an just light up Mercy's face, usually with a Flashbang at her feet. Even if I die the damage is done and Mercy's no longer there to heal off damage my teammates are hopefully doing or to resurrect anyone still alive.

Yeah I play a lot of JR and I find him fun. Reminds me of noob tubing in COD which I used to do a lot. Suppression fire is great and all but using JR to his maximum potential does require aim since the direct impacts do so much damage. Missing in close/mid range is really punishing because of how long the grenades take to explode.

It feels pretty amazing to drop people with direct impacts from the launcher. Wish I could do it more often though :)

That's why you use the concussion mine to either confirm a kill or gtfo if you're going to lose the fight.

I really like Junkrat, mostly because he's really easy for me to get kills and control an area with.

Need more than just your name. Need the number too.

Quote first post and add your name to the spreadsheet or join discord and put your ID there in LFG or general when you're online and you should be able to find people to play with pretty easily.

Yeah making people eat the mine is great too. I need to work on realizing where a fight is going bad and escaping and add verticality to my game (I mainly play on the ground-level which is dumb). The concussion mine is kind of weird though. It feels inconsistent for me. Sometimes I'll toss it and blow it up where I know someone is and it will do no damage at all. Maybe latency or bad timing.

I've never felt as alone as I do in the attack/attack games as Lucio. I know I have teamates, I saw them at the beginning of the match.

Are they getting lost on their way to the objective? Why am I constantly the only one there? How am I able to survive 4 opponents while the rest of my team can't handle two? I've never played a game with such an incompetent playerbase.

Junkrat is a fantastic character to help clear out a strong defense. You can really fuck with the other team with his grenades and super.

Well the two widows and two hanzos who joined are somewhere Im sure. Your tank died ... So for some inexplicable reason he switched the a third widow.

It's true.
He makes it really hard for the other team to get situated if you are running around laying down fire while tossing traps and bombs all over.
Be chaotic and work your angles and bank off of walls.

The kill-bunnies get tiresome after awhile.

I blame Reaper players

I need to learn how to better aim with D.Va, that or her damage fucking sucks. Is it just me or is when you fire your crosshair moves slower compared to just moving it around without firing?

His defense is low enough that there's no need to really change anything else. He dies easy.

Yup. Jengi, Mei, Tracer, Zenyatta, Widowmaker, and Hanzo make pretty short work of him, especially Mei if you can catch a player off-guard! His healing requires him to remain stationary so you can fuck his shit up if you catch him doing it.

Not sure what it is but Symmetra is just incredibly fun and satisfying to play. I'm currently 30-12 with her. I even got the 20 streak trophy playing as her.

Man my first game ever i was play of the game with a 12 kill spree and i thought to myself "this is it, this is going to be the game where i shine" turns out i had one hell of a healer on me because i am getting slaughtered in some games here. Loads of fun but still so much to learn and master.

Bastion still needs a rework. Maybe reduce the range and remove his self healing
Bastion needs no nerf, if anything Bastion needs a small buff. His range is perfectly fine. That self-heal also might seem ridiculous but it's really not useful unless you're behind cover which if he's in shift mode he has to take the time to get out of the mode, get to cover and then the self-heal isn't even immediate like Roadhogs. Bastion is not overpowered.

I'm up for 180, heck, 270 degree limit on the turrets. They certainly need some sort of limiter.
