Never saw what the boarder of the Plateau actually looked like until now:

No bald cap? Lies!
One thing I noticed: there's enhanced weapons and some loot randomization. I noticed this in both the Treehouse stream and... - I want to say the Polygon video? - where the chest underneath the boulder outside the stasis shrine had a Traveler's Bow in it, but each time had a different modifier. Once it was a yellow box and icon that denoted Power +3 for 8 damage instead of 5, and the other time it was a blue-greenish diamond icon and text that said it had enhanced durability.

I have a feeling that must be what those precious stones and metals you find can be use for as accessories. We might be able to go to a smithy and have them fuse the weapon with Amber or whatever to apply those powerups to items we've found. Better items will have more accessory slots for more powerups and possibly for taking basic items and upgrading them to better versions. Like making a Traveler's Claymore into a Soldier's Claymore etc.

I think you need the glider since the entire plateau is surrounded by a sheer cliff. However, only the Treehouse folks had the glider I think. The other demos didn't have it and you couldn't obtain it in time.

I wonder what stops you climbing down, could just be lack of stamina perhaps

Is there a good imgur album or something with all the good webms/gifs and stuff?

I'm trying to find the one where the wind blows kindling across a fire and then catches the brush on fire.

It's crazy to think that everything we've seen from the demo comes from what essentially amounts to the game's tutorial area.

Less than 2% of the game they kept saying.

After a couple days of awe I'm starting to get a little nervous that maybe they really haven't done much work on the other areas or towns/dungeons, and just showed off what was done. I know it's Nintendo and they rarely do that but I just can't shake this feeling that we haven't seen any of that not because it's that much of a spoiler, but because it isn't really there or ready to be shown in an impressive capacity yet.

They have less than a year left to get this out by March, I really hope it doesn't get delayed further.

This game HAS to have some form of time-traveling, right?

Yes seeing the ruins, the rusty master sword, that the towns are connected to the story, seeing the guardian fight on the field (outside the plateau segment) which is in no way as rusty or as decayed than the others. That make me feels like there is a time travel related mechanic.

First thing I thought was the game took place in the far future, after civilization had been devastated. That explains the presence of some technology but also explains why everyone seems to live with minimal technology.

I think that's also why they don't want to show towns yet, because we're going to see signs of much more advanced technology there.

I'm really starting to get Mario 64 type vibes from this game, or the closest I've felt to vibes like that from any game since.

Now that the game has visible stats and numbers, can we all agree that Zelda is a RPG?

A ton of things have been borrowed from Xenoblade here, the map, the loot collecting, the way of getting money, upgrades, rewards for exploring, etc. Good thing.

I love the feeling of sandbox we have here. In post OOT Zelda games, everything felt built for you.

"Hey! here is a clawshot, you can grab the 30 or so clawshot points we have distributed for you in the game so you can find the traditional hidden stuff."

Now you can climb every mountain, search high and low, follow every byway, every path you know.

I feel like a kid with the hookshot trying to grab wooden things in OOT all over again.

This is kind of stupid

Games are not an aggregation of multiple games that share one or several features

Shows you the extend of analysis capacity most gamers have

I was thinking the exact same thing when watching the live stream. The control and movement have that vibe Mario 64 has/had. A level of freedom and that sense of character movement being a natural extension of your hand, etc. Able to pull off those crazy combos/moves...Where the game is fun to play simply because of character control and the environment interaction.

Yes, I think the acknowledged removal of towns from the demo for spoiler reasons is a big hint. Educated guess says we'll see towns in ruined states and then travel back to see them in a better state.

They didn't say they removed towns for the demo. They said there will be towns once you get off the plateau the demo is confined to

This picture represent well how anyone who really watched the 5 hours stream "saw" as cool and fun stuff/ref. That's a fun cariacture of the 5 hours of streaming, nothing else.

Here's an example of why Tony Hawk was mentionned:

Or did you barged here while reading and watching nothing to complain like some others ?

This has probably been answered, but are those load screens between overworld and the shrines going to be in the final game?

I don't think it was ever answered by anyone at Nintendo but I would imagine that yes, they will be there at least in the Wii U version.

Hopefully the NX version will have faster load times
because it will hopefully use cartridges as a storage medium

I remember that they said they removed them from the demo. Same with the NPCs.

That's the thing I don't know, people are saying one or the other... We could use a reference that's saying the exact thing. Again if that's from an interview or several, it could be due to misinterpretation.

I personally think they didn't removed any city in the great plateau and they said there will be no towns in the demo because it's confined in the plateau. But maybe they removed some NPC.

I'm just now realizing the feeling of little details and interactions is quite similar to what I felt with Wind Waker when the first videos were shown. Things like being able to cut ropebridges and having them react, twist or be destroyed, water dripping off Link when he came out of the water, enemies being able to hit each other by accident and get angry at each other, the wind carrying cut grass blades in the direction it was blowing, etc.

Probably in a much less accutate way as this post shows the extent of your sense of humor capacity, but OK.

I wasted a bunch of my demo time trying to climb down. It actually forces you to fall into a death pit if you make it down far enough. You need the glider item to get off the plateau I believe.

One thing I don't like that I keep seeing is the look of hunting. I know it's sort of a weird complaint, but when Link shoots a boar and the arrow cartoonishly hits and then the boar disappears in a puff of smoke, it just doesn't feel right. It doesn't match the stalking vibe, and it feels silly when you're hunting it for its body to have the body disappear. I guess I see hunting as a different feature than combat with enemies, while the game is treating hunting as an extension of combat with a different enemy type.

I think if arrows stuck in prey, that would help. Or at least have the body behave like a chopped down tree, where you need to hit it again with something to "carve" it and retrieve the meat or pelt.

It's not very Zelda, but a more visceral experience I think would help. At least based on what I've seen.

Honestly, I find hunting to be a bit of a weird inclusion at all. Hunting to me has always seemed like a fairly grizzly affair. It fits in something like Red Dead Redemption because of the era, it fits in something like The Witcher because of the tone and the premise. But Zelda games are colorful fairy-tales about a nice boy named Link. It kind of fucks with my head canon of who Link is to think that he'd have no problems putting an arrow through a deer's neck.

What does the text say? It's too small for me to read.

The entire dialog for that sections goes like this:

My my... It would seem that we have quite the enigma here. This tower and several just like it have erupted across the land, one after another. Very interesting... It appears that some long-dormant power has awoken quite suddenly. Did anything...odd happen to you while you were on top of that tower?

(I heard a voice)

I suspected as much. And did you happen to recognize the voice at all?

(No.)

I see. Well, then...that is a shame. I assume that you caught full sight of that atrocity swarming around the castle. That is the Calamity Ganon. It brought ruin and corruption upon the kingdom of Hyrule 100 years ago. It appeared suddenly...destroying everything in its path. Leaving countless innocents in its wake.

Over the past century, the kingdom's purest symbol, Hyrule Castle, has been able to contain that evil. But just barely. There it festers, building its strength for the moment it will unleash its blight upon the land once again. It would appear that moment is fast approaching. I must ask you, young one... Do you intend to make your way to the castle?

(I do.)

I thought so.

Here, on this isolated plateau, we are surrounded on all sides by sheer cliffs, with no way off or down. If you were to try and jump, well...no death could be more certain. Or foolish. Of course, if you had a paraglider like me, that would be quite another story!

(Give it to me!)

Har har har! Sure! Why not? But there is no such thing as a free item in this world, you know.

Let's see now.

How about we trade it for a bit of treasure that slumbers nearby? Come. Let me show you something.

After reading all the hands-on impressions my initial denial is gone.

Game of the Show for me. And it can only look better on NX. Day one.

I'm betting that's just for the E3 demo- they said you can head to the final boss immediately after beginning the game, I guess that means if you're clever enough you can find the exact right spot to climb down from the plateau where you won't die.

Well I'm 9 minutes from playing

If you have the time, see if you can shieldsurf onto an exploding bomb!

IGN did an interview with a Treehouse guy and he was asked if the NPCs of towns are humanoids and the guy refused to answer

I think I get most of them but can someone please explain to me "and Knuckles?" Is it some kind of lock on thing? Also what about featuring Dante? I wanna know.

It's referencing how you can bring Wolf Link into the game via an amiibo like how you could bring Knuckles into earlier Sonic games in Sonic & Knuckles.

Wolf Link being a helper like tails or something maybe?

concerned about the typical open world repeating event thing.

I really hope each shrine/camp encounter is fresh enough to hold my interest.
