Pokémon Go |OT 2| Servers...gotta crash 'em all!

Third time at Santa Monica pier without getting any of the big boys. Tons of uncommon pokes and even 2 dratinis though. Still, it stings when I hear from my friends who have gone 2-3 times and caught 2 dragonites, 2 laprases, and an aerodactyl.

My poor wife is heartbroken. She wants a Lapras so badly...

It's probably a good thing trading isn't enabled
because she would "make" me trade her the one I hatched

So my work is mainly a Growlithe nest but at night Abras spawn as much as they do. I have enough candies to evolve a kadabra into alakazam.

Congrats, starting to think Abras is a lost cause for me, whenever I do rarely see one he runs after most attempts. Only caught 2 so far.

Did you go this morning or last night? I have only gone once to SMP for the sole purpose of pokemon... I do that for disneyland too lol. usually epic spawns are in the dead of night.

I went to the Long Beach Pike for the sole purpose of getting magikarp and getting to level 28 finally. I know in the middle of the night thy get epic spawns too but I don't wanna wake up so damn early or stay up so damned late, however you want to put it.

I can relate to a few of the recent posts.

Yesterday was kind of frustrating. I was basically on the verge of quitting today, after my three hour binge. I hatched about six 2km eggs in a row with the yellow incubator, and I had a 10 km in a blue incubator. The 10km is the fourth one I've had. I've mentioned my town's crappy Pokemon selection in a previous post, so eggs are a big deal to me.

Only one of the 2km eggs was decent. It was a high CP Bulbasaur with very solid IVs. The rest were Magikarp, Rattata, Weedle, Pidgey, and Caterpie.

The 10km egg was a freaking Eevee! In a weird twist of fate, though, I received two 10km eggs later after my eggs had been hatched. I won't even expect good stuff from my fifth and sixth, but I do have somewhat of a reason to continue. The grind to level 23 was very tough.

Other minor annoyances included wild Pidgeot. This is the second occurrence where I have literally used all of my balls trying to catch one. Most of them simply missed, but it was still breaking out even after I had landed solid hits.

I still manage to get 30 coin bonuses when I go out, but this Team Mystic domination is getting out of hand. I'm doing very well as an Instinct player, and it is not that easy being on this team. I can bring down most Blue gyms if I dedicate the time. A big problem is that some Blue gyms have between 40,000 to 50,000 prestige, and they have been around for a while.

All of this means that it is even more important for me to train Yellow gyms when I find them.

I think Abras usually run after the first term to intentionally imitate the mainline games. I've caught a few; I generally go right to Ultra Balls + Razz Berries if I have them.

For you.
So, is there any "translations" of the appraisal phrases anywhere? There's a Eevee I want to evolve. It tells me that " it might not be great in battle but I like it" but then also says "im blown away by its stats"

Team Valour right? The first statement is about their overall stats. The latter statement is about the specific stat that the leader just mentioned.

There have been translations available since the update if you need more clarity.

Yup. As far as I can tell OT's often stay one the main two boards until a random user bitches about it, lol. Exactly what happened with the Amiibo topic. One guy kept bitching and whining about how he hated seeing the Amiibo OT on Gaming and got it moved.

There are some community threads in gaming that are 5+ years old, it's kind of impressive.

it also means you get a lot more chances for xp from taking out gyms. I'm on mystic and I get annoyed that a) there are too many mystic gyms I can't get my pokemon in them to get a bonus without spending like 10 minutes on leveling it and b) I don't get much xp if every gym is blue and I can't take one down.

thank goodness there are still plenty of team red.

the thing about the teams is that as time goes on it should start to balance out...since yellow can more easily xp farm with more gyms to take out they will eventually have more xp overall than red and especially blue, so the yellow gyms will be slightly more difficult to take out but that makes a difference in the bigger scheme. blue gyms will start to be cannon fodder while yellow will become fort Knox

To those beta testing the new Sightings feature: if a Pokemon shows up on a lure, does that pop up in the Sightings screen? I'm still miffed about a Lapras that spawned on a lure that I couldn't get to in time.

Adding Gen 2 Pokemon would be definitely welcome as I search for the last third of the current pokedex, but I'm not sure how long another 100 Pokemon would really last now that we are seasoned hunters.

I hope they do add more, sometimes I question if they will even do that. We have no concrete evidence they will add more later.

My great day continues!

Evolved an Abra and Meowth for my first Kadabra and Pursian.

Then I find this fella.

How many have even filled out the current dex? I hope they add Mewtwo and the birds during September but no rush with Gen 2 imo. Maybe they could add 5-10 pokemon every month or so during winter.

I can't see them adding 5-10 Pokemon at a time. That's...an odd request.

They should add Gen 2 early November, and it should start by hatching a Togepi from an egg. Then they can have not just more Pokemon in general, but more diversity even amongst the fodder.

You can have nighttime Pokemon like Hoothoot replace Pidgey, Spinarak replace Weedle, Murkrow replace Spearow, etc. You can have special eggs that hatch baby Pokemon. If they want they can even try to refine some Pokemon spawns so water areas like beaches, piers, and lakes all have mostly different water Pokemon spawns - although I don't know the difficulty in this task.

Releasing a handful of Pokemon every month or so just results in a small change in what you normally see and maybe one or two uncommon Pokemon every now and then. It just doesn't make sense.

Exactly this. Sounds like a great way to do it.

I just reached over 100 caught myself, and been playing more now so I'm confident by the end of September I should be able to complete all that's here. :)

More like

|OT3| Overall, your (expletive for genitalia) is a decent Pokemon

|OT3| Your Onix is tinier then any we have on record. Astounding.

I spent the afternoon out on the town and failed to find much good. A haunter and a Mr Mime appeared on the list but I never found them. I did however get a top percentage Electabuzz out of an egg, which after a couple of boosts is now my first to hit the 1000 mark.

Looking at my things IVs, I have a couple of good'ns, like a 15/15/? Eevee and a 13-14/13-14/13-14 Ponyta. I also have a ?/15/? Dragonair... that's level 1. Oh boy.

Edit: Also, its amusing to see Blanche speak the name of my Metapod, freet. Because stuff they say types out letter by letter, they speak the HTML tags while spelling out the name.

Is there a specific way eggs are ordered in your inventory?

I would like to use FIFO when selecting my next egg but if I get a new egg(that's a different KM amount otherwise how would I know?), where it shows up doesn't seem to be always in the bottom right slot.

If I have already caught 2 Vaporeon's in the wild will the Eevee naming trick still work for me even if I have never done it before?

Maybe you have been moving too fast? You can't go too far without it escaping. Try logging out and in again, if you can't, you are banned.

I only really pop pokemon go when I'm already heading out for something now. I used to go out to try and find spawns on my own, using a community map for ideas. Then once the trackers came I would just quickly scan the city center and run out the door if I saw anything exciting which would usually turn into a 3 to 4 hour walking fest as I roamed around town from point to point nabbing interesting stuff. Now without the trackers I just don't feel motivated to head out, though the fact I'm not a huge gen 1 fan doesn't help :p

I wouldn't say it works "just fine"

The methodical way of using it takes way too long, and it assumes that you're free to walk in any direction without houses, etc. blocking the way

Unless you're in an open field and happen to know the exact spawn time of the Pokemon I'm pretty comfortable calling the current system basically useless.
One other issue with the standard method is that it assumes the pokemon appeared on your 'sightings' because you walked into it's radius. You have to walk back after seeing it pop up (if you were lucky enough to be watching it when it popped up, which I never am) to ensure it didn't just spawn with you in its radius before following the usual steps if you want to be accurate.

I've found the triangulation method using Sightings works extremely well, even in my suburban neighbourhood. Already tracked down several Pokémon in the last couple days. At least in my experience, Pokémon generally don't appear too far away from the street, so even if I stick to the sidewalks, I'm always close enough to ping it.

The one glaring issue is you never know when the timer will expire. It takes me at least about 5 minutes to get a decent idea of where the Pokémon is.

I was at the park today and there is like 3 pokestops really close to each other there and the 3 had a lure active so there was a lot of people grouped. It felt weird because all the people was playing the same thing but none was talking to each other so you can literally just heard the fiums and blips of pokeballs flying and hitting pokemon haha. Probably everyone there was like "This is so awkward but I gotta catch them all" lmao

Caught an Electabuzz, my first. Yay

Also, screw getting Pinsirs at this point. A do-nothing Pokemon in this game if there ever was one.

Has anyone noticed/felt that battery consumption is getting worse with each version update?

Before the first big update, my phone would slowly gain charge while playing connected to a battery with a 2.0A output (I guess I should have sprung for 2.4).

After that update, it was a slow drain, but I was also playing more during the day, so having to increase the screen brightness probably had something to do with it. I could still have the app running for like eight hours and only lose 25% of my phone's battery.

Today, I was only out for three or four hours and my phone battery was nearly dead. It could be my battery pack or USB not carrying the current it maybe once did, but I don't have the equipment to check. It could be a lot of things, really. Maybe it was especially sunny today, I was switching apps a lot, and I had only recently started having my desktop scanner send push notifications to my phone, which means more vibrating, and I have the vibration intensity on my phone set to max. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed their battery draining faster than before.
