Some players can qualify based on how they place here at SCR because they got enough points at other events. However if you outright win SCR, since it is a premier event, you get a spot at Capcom Cup.

From what I was reading:
Pools were late
Not all consoles had Xrd downloaded for pools so they had to download the game while pools were on going.
Xrd Top 8 did not get up on the main stage even though SCR had dev support

SCR fucked up worse than usual this time. The event should have been a slam dunk for Xrd by all accounts, but it got treated worse than a side event because blatant neglect and incompetence. It's one thing to have an anime tournament be smaller cause numbers and shit, it's another to have support and be featured then have it go worse than VxG.
It's not surprising by any means for an anime tournament to have bumps, but like even by normal anime standards it's astoundingly awful.

I think one of the big reasons FGs are the only real competitive game that still tries to charge for viewing matches (with little success) is because the games are all stuck in the 90s from a technological standpoint and event organizers have no other way to monetize the events. If you had items and other online functionality tied directly to the tournament itself (like LoL, Dota 2 or CS:GO) then there would be no need.
They may as well come out and say "You're not e-sports enough for us, go screw off.". That wouldn't be professional, but at least it would be honest.
And even if there was never any intention of putting the game on the main stream, this does nothing to address the other issues that came up. I legitimately feel bad for the couple of locals that went out to the event and I seriously doubt anyone from here is going to bother making the trip next time.

SCR also used an incorrect bracket structure for Xrd Top 16. There were two rematches from pools in Losers Top 8 (Nerdjosh vs. Bears, Toki vs. Kizzie Kay) that should've been avoided. I don't know why it happened, whether it's the TO not noticing or smash.gg being weird, but it's another thing to add to the list. Also, every other game at SCR that had a Top 16 (MKX, T7, KoF14, UMvC3) did not have this problem, only Xrd.

Happened in KI, too. Runex and his brother, iirc. Also no game audio for most of the short time pools were running on stream.

I will say that it seems like SCR has gone better this year than it did last year, when it had to change venues and move its date back 5 months. Games that are not Xrd or KI appear to have been run well. It's hard to have a full perspective of what actually is happening at a tournament when you're not there.
