Not sure how I feel about the Tales-style characters, but then again the derpy Xenoface characters always looked stupid too.

I love Xenoblade Chronicles

But this....the art style. Jeez. Hate it with a passion. Still interested in the game but yeah. Hopefully at least it keeps the British VO.

Is that Xenoblade X remaster still on? I'd love to see it, especially if they are a 2 team studio with Xenoblade X and then Xenoblade chronicles

I like how before XB 1: "fuck those are ugly character designs! those faces are gross"

now they're some standard of quality.

I guess it's Xenoblade's "Zelda cycle" lol

When people say "ugly face" they generally refered to character models, not character design. This game has the opposite problem, it fix (some of)the face model, but the character design is trash.

keep on saying this today... i have a feeling that takahashi will alternate xbc & xbx, so after this game they'll do xbx2 then xbc3 and so on

The trailer doesn't seem to emphasis HUGE world to explore (aside from the whale thing). Structurally this might be closer to XB rather than XCX.

Not sure about alternating, though. I want it to happen, but unless they have a crazy efficient pipeline and teams (like, say, Ubisoft) I'm not sure if it's possible in a timely manner.

This looks promising. I skipped XCX because of the music, so hearing that it's back to the same people who did the amazing Xenoblade Chronicles soundtrack is music to my ears.

The Switch is looking to be fairly well stocked with RPGs and open world games already.

Honestly, I just want another Xeno game in the vein of Xenogears. X came close, and I was hoping the follow up would nail it.

Since in my opinion Xenoblade Chronicles is the best JRPG ever made on any system, I will buy a Switch for this game only. According to past interviews, it will be much more story focused compared to Xenoblade X, which was a very mediocre experience with some huge issues.

That creature that moves in the first shot is enormous o_O

So what? It's not like we can manually climb onto the creatures like in Shadow of the Colossus or Dragon's Dogma. We just go next to it, select or not select commands from a pop up menu and see the characters swing/fire at the air and the creature showing absolutely no hit reaction to your attack.

Also

Fucking atrocious character art that instantly turned me off. This is monkey paw shit for me.

Monkey paw shit, couldn't have come up with a better description. Instead of creating its own identity of character design, they just take a page of modern Tales or generic shonen anime look. The original Xenoblade had ugly character models, but at least they tried to make them looked more realistic human/older anime artstyle. And can we talk about the main character for a second. A damn kid as a protagonist? You can see the Naruto in him already, the annoying damn kid who wants to save the world and protect his friends and those bullshit. And what the fuck was he even wearing??? This is driving me crazy.

This is how I feel. That cliffhanger is almost criminal.

Somewhere deep inside I know I'll miss Sawano for some strange reason.

Yeah looking at what the game went out on I consider not doing a sequel/enhanced released that ties up the loose ends a criminal offense.

I can live with them not explaining anything that happens before the credits roll, but that last minute plot twist after it and how much it changes to the game really drove me insane, and we desperately need some closure on this.

As for Sawano, I'd agree. The Overworld themes were pretty damn good and while I think ACE+ is a great and better composer I feel like I will at least a tiny bit miss the experimental-ness of his music.

Art style is a disaster and the framerate looks atrocious at this state, but I can give Monolithsoft the benefit of the doubt. I really liked XCX.

Yeah, the character design/style is really not my thing, XB was good, XCX the faces were passable but this, nope, remind me of these cheap South Korean MMOs (Elsword, Fiesta, Mabinogi etc...), I will probably pass.

Surprising art style change. Don't know how I completely feel but at least it doesn't have that weird chiseled plastic look of XBX.

Not too hot on the character designs. I also find the grass color strangely realistic. It really clashes with the character design. Otherwise, I'm sold.

Come on now.

Art style for the characters doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I feel like it's a huge step up from XCX anyway.

This was one of the biggest positives from the conference to me. Especially the news of ACE doing the soundtrack. However I don't expect this game until 2018 at the earliest
when the Switch will cost $150.

The character designs for the other 2 games were ugly as hell already so changing it to something not as ugly but more generic doesn't really bother me that much. His costume is garbage and will be getting changed asap in game.

So I guess they're basically considering Xenoblade X a separate series from Xenoblade?

Maybe we'll get an X 2 in the future also.

I hate the character designs, but the areas look good and I loved the original XC, so I'm still in day 1. I'll probably hold off on getting the Switch until this comes out.

I really don't like the character designs, I guess I'm one of those weird people who didn't mind XBC and XCXs character designs despite acknowledging they weren't all that great for the most part. But this just seems so bland so far, I'm sure I'll enjoy the game overall but I feel like I should be more hyped then I am for a new Xenoblade game.

Right now the only thing I'm excited about is the music. Nothing else. The fuck were they thinking with that generic anime style?

I feel like I'm in opposite land. I think the character designs are pretty good, not stunning, but not distractingly poor like XC. The only thing redeeming XC's faces is how much worse they were in XCX.

Wait, 2017? Holy shit I was expecting 2018 at the earliest.

I'm of mixed mind on the characters - they at least look a lot better than a good chunk of the XCX ones Dude's pants are a crime, but if it's anything like XCX it'll be pretty easy to find better looking gear (or worse/more insane looking gear if you want), so that's not a problem. Not a big fan of full on anime-styled characters, but they look like something I'll get used to quick and may even find some designs I like.

I thought most of the areas shown looked pretty good visually, especially the skyship town.
