Regarding spoilers and HMK, I remember Ash from GameXplain mentioned in a discussion that he saw a save file name that was apparently a huge spoiler and was asked to not say anything. Seems like it's a thing that happened to other people too?

Seeing as he clarified that it wasn't a story spoiler, I'm guessing no one's figured out what the Gamexplain "late game objective" spoiler was.

Although, I do think I've found what HMK is talking about (and he probably just played it up for the audience)... it's nothing serious and pretty ambiguous seeing as we don't completely know what he's talking about.

Possible game mechanic spoiler:

In the options menu, there's a section for "Ability Controls", with 8 slots, which might confirm special moves or abilities other than Flurry Rush. All 8 slots are blank with "???" as their item name

EDIT: HMK's posted a video about the spoiler'd section, so it's not that. Maybe leaks really are coming. According to someone on r/zelda they've read a possible spoiler floating around on a Spanish site. So take care everybody!

Anyone else disappointed with the game's UI? Especially having seen the latest Horizon footage? It's just so bland and uninspired, similar to how they use the main ZELDA font as titles in this game, which looks wrong IMO.

Honestly, one of the major issues with most 3D Zelda games has been how slow and clunky the UIs are, and this one appears to be incredibly quick and snappy. So that's what I care about in the end.

Considering the investment in this game I wonder if we will see a special mini Direct for it or maybe a big budget superbowl commercial ? This is basically the biggest Nintendo game of all time in terms of budget and anticipation even ignoring it's the main launch title of their do or die console.

I think they should do a Zelda/Switch commercial with a focus on nostalgia back to Zelda 1/NES, similar to the Pokemon ad from last year. That could be a killer ad if they do it right.

I mean your weapons are bound to break before you can actually do any meaningful damage.

I doubt that, because Hyrule Castle will likely be full of high level enemies (like Iron Knuckles/Darknuts) from whom you can steal some high level weapons. It's just going to be an intensely hard fight without doing any of the dungeons or getting light arrows/Master Sword/deku nuts.

The thing with Ganon is he's a big cloud, can't see regular weapons doing much in that form.. but there could be a trick to it.

I don't think that's a spoiler as it is just in the game controls. It was shown before the player has done anything so hard to say what it is though.

Assuming Aonuma isn't teasing and it's actually possible to defeat Ganon from the start, I'm sure regular weapons will have some effect. You're right that there's probably a trick to it, like maybe Calamity Ganon surrounds and protects the Triforce and you have to actually attack the Triforce? To sorta sever his link to it, or destroy it outright to remove his power?

Which again, would be an absurdly similar situation to Morrowind...

Maybe I should play Morrowind again...

EDIT:

I doubt review copies are out quite yet, but Nintendo is usually really eager to get their AAA games in the hand of reviewers as early as possible. Wouldn't be surprised if press started receiving their Switches with the game as early as mid-February.

The fact that a lot of the outlets that were leaking like crazy before the January event are now silent tells me they might actually already have their Switches and review copies...

Wonder if anyone has a review copy already, it's still about a month away, but considering its an open world game, reviewers are going to need as much time as possible.

Its simplistic and clean, more then okay with me.

Same. I love BotW's UI.

I really like how they revived the old Famicom logo for this game.

It wouldn't have looked half-bad if they had done the same internationally with the old NES Zelda logo.

Fuck you. That's TOO goddamn good Jett. The actual logo treatment just doesn't cut it now.

Does this part of the trailer confirm that Steppe Talus and other overworld bosses are not unique but a kind of enemy?

I would say they're more like minibosses scattered around. At E3 the Steppe Talus people fought there had Great Plateau above its head so maybe its the only one in that area and each area will feature a mini world boss of sorts, some of which are the same as others.

Stop it, you weirdos, you already have the perfect cover art, including the Zelda logo. The LoZ1-Text isn't half as good, y'all got blinded by nostalgia.

Since some people brought this up a few days ago, "Change weapon" to the dpad means that you don't have to go through menus to change weapons when they break or simply if you want to change the one you're using. You still can do that as we've seen in many gameplay videos, but obviously there's a much faster way to go through them.

Whew!

Good news!

Does anyone know if they're going to make more Nintendo Switch systems for launch day? Will I be able to just walk in and get one somewhere??

According to kimishima, they are producing more units, if you are desperate to get one on launch day i would recommend pre-ordering it though.

Anyone else disappointed with the game's UI? Especially having seen the latest Horizon footage? It's just so bland and uninspired, similar to how they use the main ZELDA font as titles in this game, which looks wrong IMO.

When the game was properly unveiled at E3 I figured the UI was just a placeholder and it would be polished and prettied up for release, but it seems not :|

The main menu looks like it took about 10 minutes to design, with official artwork on one side and very simple text options on the right.

I dunno, it's just a little disappointing from a presentation POV.

The main menu does look really bland, I agree on that. I kinda have a feeling it isn't final, though.

How anticlimactic a start screen like that would be for Zelda, especially compared to TP or OoT. But SS was also a bit bland in that regard though.

The UI I think is nice, if a little unfitting. Should have used some sheikah aesthetic, imo. But it's really clean, so that's good.

I completely agree. UI has never been Nintendo's strong suit, but it's painful here. The garish fonts paired with the clean iconography looks awkward; the whole interface comes across as inconsistent. They could've easily designed around a Sheikah aesthetic, but instead, it's a missed opportunity.
