(Going to be looking for any opportunity to use Alarm Cat pics for awhile now)

Fearless Defenders was pretty dull yeah. Thought about revisiting it bc it has its share of fans but then I remember Will Sliney drew most of it. not a fan

I like Carol, well more to the point the Kelly Sue version of the charcater. Right now, Cap Marvel is Hillary Clinton in comic form.

God, the president in the final CWII issue using Trump words when speaking to her was so bad in the way they tried pushing her.

I still don't know why Marvel made her join the GotG and are trying to push her as their best Earth friend. She has been on more teams than Deadpool at this point. Why was she even on both the A-Force and Ultimates(1 and 2).

Honestly Carol made sense to be apart of the guardians, at least the incarnation prior to Bendis.

At best Captain Marvel should be the buffer between Alien threats and the earth, almost like a Green Lantern in many ways. There's a big reason why her movie is going to launching alingside Infinty war.

Unpopular opinion: I love the design of Leto's Joker.

Man I just saw some pages from the next and last Nova issue and it looks cool as hell. :(

Going to miss this book but at least he's going to appear in Duggans Guardians run which better last for ages. Frazer Irving is doing art for issue 3, looking forward to that. I didn't know the book was double shipping.

Taking her to space is infinitely more interesting than trying to make her Earths super saviour. She's boring as fuck at home so best to punt her somewhere where everything is new and the stakes are unknown.

The current Avengers feels like it takes place in its own world, contrast to Hickman where it felt like the captain of the Marvel ship

Losing Avengers as a Flagship book was the start of Marvels problems with anad.

I don't like the current Justice League main title, but hitch does a good job of making every arc feel like an event.

It's definitely a shame, they have nice line of cosmic titles happening otherwise with some great art. I love the look of the Baby Groot book that's coming up. Everyone seems to be loving the writer on Gwenpool too.

She should've done other things in space. Have her set out to visit Mar-Vell's grave after it's rumored a order/cult like the Universal Church of Truth or something has showed up on Titan. Have her meet Moondragon and Mantis who've experienced visions and dreams of someone with the star of Vell(could be the splintered Genis, Phyla trapped in Oblivion or Mar's soul trapped by an old enemy) calling out. Team them up and have them explore places like Hala, Knowhere, Homeworld etc and meet characters like Eon. Since the Bendis GotG were so Earth focused for so many arcs and events Carol could end up forming a second team in space.

Give it to Ewing.

Slott has been writing Spider-Man since 2008 and it's still a top 10 book.

What are they supposed to be replacing him for again?

Yup. It continues to sell. Wierd how people also forget about Silver Surfer when talking about Marvel not supporting unique books. By sales that book should be dead 12 times over.

Also I see Samnee is doing an issue of Guardians.

To build up newer talent, Spider-man will sale regardless of the writer. Use it to prop up a new talent like DC did by putting Snyder and King on the flagship Batman title.

Doc Shaner, Chris Samnee, and David Aja are three of the best artists in the business. The scale and build of their people really evoke memories of the Silver/Bronze age.

King wasn't some unknown when he got put on batman. He put in great work for DC and Marvel and proved himself capable. Who at Marvel do you see in that regard? Aaron? That dude is busy.

The thing there is that those two examples you gave, Snyder and King, are the last two new writers to come along that I think have that kind of potential for greatness on a flagship book for the Big Two. It's been a while since someone came on the scene like that. I think that's what they wrote hoping for with guys like Charles Soule, but he's not that.

I like Charles Soule's work alot but I don't think he's an A Lister. He's someone who would work best with with the Inhumans or Xmen. Just give him three interconnected books and let him go at it.

It won't happen but Ewing should be Marvels next big guy. Writing the next event and the main Avengers title.

If Marvel is doing this correctly X-Men should by all right be a top tier book. A book that needs an A lister

If I liked Shutter for like 10 issues, would I like the rest? Seems like people don't like the later issues for some currently unknown to me reason.

I'm not sure sorry, I just read the first volume last night! I have the second volume here, it should take me up just slightly beyond #10 to #12, but I'll be in the dark on the rest for a bit yet. Really liked that first vol though. The book seems really well though out thematically and tonally so I'd be interested if it's the plot that put some folks off or if they felt it loses that core.

The X-Men are a good example of why I think you can't say Spider-Man will sell no matter what.

In January, you had IvX barely in the top 20, Old Man Logan at like 40ish, and I think Uncanny was just outside the top 50.

It's crazy that Uncanny X-Men is around 50, when it should be competing with Batman.

Now obviously ASM wouldn't drop to 50 right away if someone replaced Slott and no one was feeling it. That character and title are going to be resilient and the audience would slowly wear down.

But with ASM doing this well after Slott's been on it so long, you have to give him credit for that. He's been there long enough that the sales would be as bad as Uncanny if people were as bored as they are with current X-Men.

Speak of the devil. Just got word that the Flash collection with Morrison and Millar just came in to the shop. I should buy it while it's available, right? Edit: Urgh, it wasn't actually in.

What would you say are the best pre-N52/Rebirth Flash books that weren't by Johns or Waid?

Maybe, I feel like the X-men have always had top tier talent apart from the early stories being fluff. The X-men being on a downturn always seems like a combination of Marvel propping up the Avengers after Disaasembled and the inter connectivity of the X-men books finally crumbling upon itself.

It was for a great cause and put together surprisingly quickly but overall, Love is Love, left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The majority of the narrative seemed to be centered on the writers themselves? There were some pretty good comics in there but the almost self-congratulatory ones centering around the tellers being an ally drowned those out. A lot of them felt like those Yelp reviews that talk about themselves and their family and why they wen't to the restaurant and why they are capable of reviewing that particular cuisine, ending with a "the food was decent I guess". Almost all of the comics with super-heroes being inserted were bad. Didio's especially felt like some weird "look how far DC has come" piece. And Snyder's piece was just a one page essay anectode.

Cary Bates had a very long run in the 80's before CoIE that Flash fans remember fondly but the final storyline was really dragged out because DC planned on killing Barry. Also, its only collected in Showcase format right now.

Silver Age.

Plutona was an interesting premise and a fairly quick read. It just felt like it didn't have enough material for 5 issues. Ended fairly strong but it just left me thinking this would have been a decent 1 or 2 issue Astro City story. Looked pretty good though.

And All-New X-Men was selling around 25K. But Marvel can't take a hint that people don't want or give a shit about the O5.

Most likely. The last arc had a couple of issues I didn't care for but rebounded with one of the best issues of the entire series.

Boom on a cancellation roll this week. Stay safe Giant Days.
How is Giant Days it should be safe right
right
Should have read GV heard things about it positive things but it was too tumblr for me like other boom books
joking about it

Thats awesome. Not a book I read but this is surely much better than actual cancellation for fans, and a natural step for publishers I think to being putting certain types and genre of book out directly to collection. The team can produce with Ogn in mind too. Would love to see Marvel give a book like Star Lors or Nova a shot like this to keep the creative team together.

Committed to not save scumming in Dishonored but when you finish a level after putting 2 hours into it, and there's that one discovery held against you...damn it.

Giant Days is fine. It's getting hardcovers.

Sejic moved Death Vigil and Switch to GN only and I imagine that will help story wise
