Wkd BO 06•30-07•02•17 - Audiences want the D3, don't put Baby in corner but 2nd,

Here's the headscratcher/brain-baker

I'm turning 40 this year, but only been visiting since like 2013 (and haven't been regularly posting since like 2014)

Some of you are turning 30 but been here for like 10+ fuckin' years.

I can't tell if that's freezing people in place, or aging them like they drank from the wrong grail.

Ironically, exactly on the dot. 12 years reading, 10 years posting, and turning 30.

You know that uncle, professor, or boss you have that is stuck forever buying Lenovo Thinkpads because they want that TrackPoint thumbpad that they have been using for 25 years? That's me and forums by this point.

Some people play fantasy sports, you make spreadsheets for movies. Man if you were into sports you would probably be on some Beautiful Mind shit

DM3 costing just 80 million is amazing.

Illumination is all about maximizing returns.

I didn't own a computer until I was almost 20. A month after financing that Gateway computer I could finally afford dial up with Mindspring.

I had a family computer. Had to share time with other family members, on top of worrying about phone calls when accessing the internet.

Do youths still take typing classes in school?

He can make a smart pun if he just take his time instead it's movie 1 + movie 2 + movie 3 and stick them together. Washes hands

Word salad is his brand though

Anytime he takes a thread title from one of us, it's some savage shit like the Barb Gordon legs one because y'all are fuckin evil

What clearly happened is that some of you broke NeoGAF's Terms of Service and signed up when you were too young to be posting on here

I was 23 at the time. GAF used to get full NPD reports, so those NPD threads were my gateway drug I guess. SonyCowboy used to advertise on the IGN boards when he was a mod. I was sick of the IGN boards for obvious reasons, so I jumped over in 2005. It was years before I switched over to spending most of my time here on the OT though.

One can only have so many hobbies.

Youths are terrible at typing. I have taught high school computer courses. The average 15 year old types at 25-30 WPM. Partially because they can't spell.

As someone who is about to transfer into a writing program yet still borderline hunts and pecks, I can assure you schools teach jack-all about typing.

Oh right, Spidey prediction:

OW: $125
DOM: $375
WW: $900

It's real hard to say which way the legs will go, but I'll happily be ambitious based off good word of mouth.

I was here when GAF stood for Gaming-Age Forum. (2000)

Posts like this do not make me feel any younger. Not one bit.

I am indeed turning 30 next month! But I'm a relatively new addition to GAF. Didn't make this account until like two years ago IIRC and didn't start regularly posting until a year ago.

Tell you what, though. You gotta give me early internet stories. I live for them. Someone in my Babylon 5 thread was posting links to Google-preserved Usenet commentary on the first-season episodes as they aired. We're talking '94. Everyone seemed to have .edu in their usernames -- only smart, smart, smart people were using words like "lurker" and "lol" in 1994, it seems.

I live for these stories, as I said. I didn't have regular net 'til 2004!

Ironically, exactly on the dot. 12 years reading, 10 years posting, and turning 30.

Happy almost-birthday!

My interest is piqued.

The Weinsteins will push it for awards if it is any good.

Joe Wright will also attempt to bounce back from Pan with The Darkest Hour, a biopic about Churchill in the early part of WW2. Gary Oldman is Churchill. Ben Mendelsohn is George VI.
Yep, I was an extra in it! Played a British soldier in some old fort that was supposed to be Versailles, I think.

Took about 25 takes to get what will end up being a 15-20 seconds long oner.

Sorry if you've mentioned it already, but is teaching how you make a living? I could see it...you're really patient with us.

Not only is there a Robin Hood movie next year, that Maid Marian solo movie with Margot Robbie is gearing up too.

Can't tell if you're serious.

I want to say the Robin Hood is the one with Taron Egerton as Robin Hood and Jamie Foxx as Little John. Maybe they're making two of them again, like with Jungle Book.

I wonder if Warners will ever release their Jungle book. They filmed it something like two years ago by now.

Not at the moment, but yes in general. I taught at a private high school for a few years but let my contract lapse in 2016, while we figured out what was going on with my wife's job and whether her employer would force a relocation (the answer is yes). I spent a decade in academia before teaching, so I have been doing some contract work for a lab group that I was once associated with, while also spending more time with my daughter. I plan on going back to teaching in Edmonton once I get re-certified for the Alberta curriculum.

I taught general science, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, and some math up to grade 12.

Yeah, it's a Jungle Book situation. The Marian movie is some war epic where she leads the resistance after Robin's death. At least that premise will clue people in to it being a whole new thing.

WW from here on out

SS legs = 378M
BvS legs = 359M
MoS legs = 360M
GoTG2 legs = 376M

I think the 400M dream is dead. Still a great success and possibly the biggest breakout of this blockbuster season, unless Apes or Spidey surprises.

Baby doesn't count.

Wonder Woman continues to show incredible legs here in Australia. I'd say it's probably the most impressive run I've seen for a super hero film. This week or next it will past furious 8 and will fall just short of GOTG2. Outside of super animated movies and the rare movie like lion or avatar you don't usually see legs like this at the Australian box office.

On the flip side transformers had an average second week and a terrible per screen average. It'll be lucky to crack 10 million in Australia which is incredibly bad. In terms of US dollars the series has went from 24 > 33 > 38 > 24 > around 10 million. That's a pretty spectacular fall from grace, fairly similar to that the pirates franchise. This entry will make less than half of the previous lowest grossest movie in the franchise and almost 1/4 of the series peak.

What')a the point of most of those comparisons? WW has so far had far better legs than almost of those why are they now being used as a barometer.

That Jungle Book comes out next October.

EDIT: I'm actually looking forward to it - I really like that cast.

Yeah. I think Andy Serkis' experience with mocap might set it apart too

Haven't been a fan of the live action Disney remakes aside from Pete's Dragon so far so if this jungle book origins (dat title tho) movie is good and considerably different from the favreau movie that would be cool

Bale and Blanchett are great casting too

...It's had much better legs than any of those films so far. This is a very pointless comparison. It's closest modern match is Spider-Man (2002).

If the weekend estimate is accurate, it's currently $7m behind Spider-Man at the same point in its run, despite opening $11m lower. It's slowly closing the gap. Spider-Man finished at $403m. If Wonder Woman keeps up the pace, it can still hit $400m, though it's far from guaranteed with a few big hitters coming out this month.
