Priebus has been fired as WH Chief of Staff, replaced by General John F Kelly

So can Trump actually destroy the Republicans? Or can the Republicans destroy Trump?

The moment the GOP feels like they have lost control of the WH they will turn on him and proceed to impeachment thus getting their man (Pence) as POTUS.

There are gonna be movies, books, and television shows made about this administration for decades. We're 6 months in and all the inside stories that have unfolded so far probably wouldn't fit inside a Tolkien trilogy.

They are slowly (or quickly depending on how you look at it, it's only been 7 months) reaching a tipping point

Yep, and unless they lock Trump up, he'll rally against the GOP as having stole his Presidency, fracturing them forever.

Would Trump actually step down if impeached though? Or would he have to be physically removed by force?

So operating off "Trump is a spoiled four year old" logic, this is him pitching a tantrum over the skinny repeal failing, right? Reince was what was supposed to make the GOP Congress work for Trump, and not only have they spent six months failing to repeal Obamacare, the deciding vote was McCain who Trump had praised for coming in to vote and none of his establishment contacts via Reince gave him warning.

It's asinine that our President could break from his party over a single vote making him look bad, but so is Trump.

It's hard to argue that Trump is a good judge of character when even he disagrees.

Keep firing people you hired for your administration Donnie, it'll only make you look tougher.

Trump's going to found his own party: The National Trump Special Independent Party.

Kind of a mouthful, but I'm sure someone will come up with a punchy shorthand.

"A land of the truly free, dammit! A nation of action, not words -- ruled by strength, not committee! Where the law changes to suit the individual, not the other way around! Where power and justice are back where they belong, in the hands of the people! Where every man is free- to think, to act- for himself! Fuck all these limp-dick lawyers, and these chickenshit bureaucrats! Fuck this 24/7 internet spew of trivia and celebrity bullshit! Fuck American Pride -- fuck the media -- Fuck all of it!"

We're going full Armstrong now, I guess.

Will wait for Metal Gear Excelsus to rise from Mara Lago

I prefer the next part of that quote.

"America is diseased, rotten to the core. There is no saving it. It needs to be pulled out by the roots. Wipe the slate clean. Burn it down! And from the ashes, a new America will be born! Evolved, but untamed! The weak will be purged, only the strongest will thrive! They'll make America great again!

Because this is how Redcaps look at the US. They don't care about governance, or laws, or liberal tears. They want to destroy it all. Bring the establishment all coming down. Bannon, I suspect, is one of the original architects of Gamergate, and this call suits him to a T. ...As it does the Redcaps.

It also encapsulates some of my own thinking on the matter. There isn't going to be an American resurgence. These people -- and I use the term loosely out of necessity -- are anathema to a free society, to democracy, toxic to the Republic.

He would face trial in the Senate, and it would require a 2/3rds vote to convict. If convicted, he is removed from office.

You need 19 Senate Republicans to flip, assuming the 48 Democratic/Independent Senators stand firm.

That was maybe the trigger. Trump's family has had it out for Reince for the past couple of months.

No, this nonsense has been building for a while. He hasn't like that the Congress isn't really getting anything passed, and feels like they don't respect him (which they don't) and are trying to control him (which they are). Hence the split between the Family and Establishment GOP.

This mooch chap is an interesting character to introduce midway through the second season.

Having him hang out with trump one episode then call the shots in the next is a bit unrealistic though.

He's been sour on Priebus for ages now. The arrival of Mooch exacerbated that immensely.

I think it's more meta than that like:

"Why don't the people love me!? Must be the fault of everyone and everything else."

You know I'd probably prefer Armstrong right now in the oval office...

lol this dumpster fire

This is not a dumpster fire. This is a five alarm fire acting as a dumpster fire until it's too late.

Trump has compromised our national security apparatus by discrediting them, not appointing necessary officials, offering up highly classified secrets from allies to adversaries, and appointing officials who are compromised through future possible use of Russian kompromat tactics.

There will be an attack at some point during the Trump presidency and his willingness to put himself and his cronies ahead of our national security will kill people.

Way off topic and I know this isn't the original of well either component of the gif, but anyone know what Evans was laughing at? I always see the variations of that gif and wonder.

On topic:
Well two ways this plays out: 1) he goes full way and forms a new party and rips his supporters from the Republicans and gives a huge chance to Dems as the GOP is fractured or 2) Republicans in Congress go "fuck you Trump" and actually work with the left and ensure nothing Trump wants happens (this outcome will also least to part of (1) wherein Trump's base turns on the GOP).

I know it's been around for a while, but it happening now just makes total sense given the McCain face turn last night. He can't retaliate against McCain--the man just got reelected and has brain cancer. He's already trying to punish Alaska.

I mostly just envision a red-faced toddler howling and then realizing he could lash out at the establishment that failed him by going after Priebus.

iirc he was in an interview with Jeremy Renner and Jeremy called Black Widow a slut lol

Trump didn't like that Priebus didn't 'return fire' at Scaramucci.

I've legit seen episodes of the Apprentice that ended that way.

"I know you aren't to blame, but I don't like the fact that you didn't attack the person who blamed you, so you're fired.
