Fantastical
Death Prophet
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
God I love that movie.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
While The Strangers really annoys me due to a few moments, I love its Halloween-esque horror of seeing things before the characters know about them. That's tension and suspense done right. In Halloween, you're always seeing Michael lurking before the character do,Someone posted the part like 20 seconds after this but this is worse
Halloween
Signs
I didn't even like the movie but that scene almost gave me a heart attack.
Damn, I really need to watch Salem's Lot, or read the book.
Yeah, I was thinking about that scene withAlso that other scene when he drops the fork. Love that kind of stuff in horror movies.the angel approaching. You don't get to see anything but the shadow and the sound of stone being dragged across the floor. Really unnerving.

Is that the origin of the "twitchy" head trope?
I couldn't find a gif, but I enjoyed The Birch. It's a horror short I saw at a horror festival.
Edit: actually, here's the whole short: https://youtu.be/SxQj0DumF8Y
Pougkeepsie tapes, truly unsettling.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes is some eerie fucking shit.
*edit - beaten to death but I'm keeping it anyways because it really deserves it
One of my favorite horror films of all time and this scene is the least chilling. Such an incredible exercise in tension and build up.
Insidious.

Not really a horror, but this scene from Communion spooked the hell out of me as a kid.
also this one from American Werewolf forest scene creeped me out
In recent memory, I found the tall guy in It Follows to be a pretty spooky scene...share some of your favorite scary scenes in horror films gaf.
Fun fact. Tall guy in It follows is one half of the world's tallest pair of identical twins (7'6")

Insidious.
First one is from Mama, the feature film.
It's better in the short, imho:
That gif appears to be from a trailer. It's not like that in the film itself (the flicker).
Exorcist 3
Is that a good film?
Candyman freaks me the fuck out, so I just got a gif to give an idea of the whole movie
It Follows is a great film but I know some of my fellow horror fans don't think it was a scary enough movie.
What the hell? It's like the scariest concept ever.
Man, that's the only good part of the movie and I watched it solely based on that gif. The rest of it is just pretty boring and the characters are all so annoying. If that gif piques anyone's interest, by all means watch it, but you've seen the best part in that one gif.
What the hell? It's like the scariest concept ever.
Psycho (this scene used to have me shook as a kid)
I laughed really loud at the movie theater on this scene HAHAHAHA
I enjoyed V/H/S and its sequel.

I haven't seen the full movie, but I've seen this gif numerous times, and only recently did I notice that the alien was watching the camera man at first and not just walking by.

They require a lot more context than a gif can show, but Fire Walk With Me is a very haunting film.
Yes! The second one in particular, that ending is sick. Very tense film, considering its length and odd structure.
From Noroi/The Curse.
This is the first time I'm hearing that Fire Walk with Me had anything scary in it. Never seen it.
What the fuck is that...

Mostly this. There were a couple creepy parts, but the climax was just goofy.Insidious was a laughably unscary movie you guys are nuts. Shit looked like a Tenacious D music video at times.
Although the book has some worse stuff in it
Audition
Watched this last night on Shudder -- holy shit... that ending..
Loved the movie.
Not gifs but here are some creepy shots of the creepiest movie i ever watched.
The Grudge
