Sunrise has released a second trailer for the upcoming movie, Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathway. As with the first trailer, this new clip begins with footage from the 1989 movie Char’s Counterattack before showing new footage.
Set in UC 0105, 15 years after the events of Char’s Counterattack, Mobile Suite Gundam: Hathway tells the story of Hathaway Noa, now a grown man leading a terrorist organization called Mafty. Haunted by his actions during Char’s Rebellion, Hathaway fights against the Earth Federation which now has become an authoritarian regime that is forcibly deporting civilians into space.
Footage of the trailer show footage of many of the characters discussing Mafty and the existence of Newtypes alongside tense action sequences. The film promises to be quite tense.
Released alongside the new trailer was a poster for the film revealing the upcoming release date. The poster shows Hathaway Noa, with Amuro and Char standing behind him. The asteroid Axis is at the center of the poster.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathway was announced as a trilogy. The first film of the trilogy is set to be released on July 23rd, 2020. No word on if screenings will be held in the United States.
