Not a hope....especially the way Xbox stock is now taking quite a while to sell, while PS5 is always sold out immediately and has no sign of slowing down.

Xbox are going to get steamrolled this gen, worse than last...purely based on momentum, games and hype. Despite Jim Ryan being crap at his job.

Zero chance. Sony would just ramp up PS Now and keep the profits for themselves rather than let MS leverage their user base.

Yeah but that ain’t exactly god of war or the last of us. The day I see Spider-Man on Xbox I will be happy for Xbox game on PlayStation.

have to admit it would be strange to see an PlayStation logo pop up on Xbox lol

Don't see it ever happening personally. Only way I could see it possibly happening is if Gamepass really does explode into such a must have service that not having it on their system is detrimental to the brand/financial bottom line.

Sony ain´t stupid and won´t let a competitor make money with/on their own platform. Not even Nintendo. Of $200 per capita, easily 80 to 90% goes to Microsoft and Nintendo would only see like 10%.

What if, suddenly all switch players play "MS games" via gamepass and stop buying new games from Nintendo? I don´t see Microsoft giving up more than just 10% or 15% GPU revenue ... it would be stupid to hand over 50% to Nintendo.

I don't see why Sony would allow it. They have nothing to gain from it.

Right now they get 30% from every third party game, DLC and microtransaction sold on their system. They want you to buy stuff from PSN, they don't want you to pay MS for a subscription service.

Why would Sony ever allow the money from games being played on PlayStation go directly to Microsoft instead of Sony?

Think, McFly.

Guess what else? PS Now isn't going to Xbox either. Shocking, I know.

you don't think Sony would get a cut?

A potential 100-150 million Game Pass users on PS5 within 7 years.. Yaah, MS would love to hit those numbers.

money talks GIF by MSNBC
Funny how all PS owners have a monster PC to play these games so effectively Microsoft hitting a bigger install base than what you quoted

Both consoles are sold out everywhere around here(Tennessee, USA)even the series S is getting hard to find at times lately.

Honestly, guys, wtf - Xbox fans wouldn’t want a streaming only game pass, so why the hell would anybody else? It would just be a laggy shitshow.

I just saw the notices on Twitter for the Series X for the US and it seemed to take significantly longer for them to sell.... could have had more stock though.

But here in Europe....

Series S is constantly in stock

Series X was in stock in Argos for a week or so but is now gone.

They have more stock in some other European countries.

I'm obviously not fully aware of the global situation, these are just a collection of observations that seem to paint a certain picture.

Why not?

If Xbox is going to fully transition to a service then It would make sense to have their content on as many platforms as possible.

Why the fuck wouldn't you want to have Xbox games playable on PlayStation? That's more games, more choice and more choice is good.

I'm more concerned with cross-play as standard on all future games. Now that would be a nice thing to have.

Did you know that if you mix Green and blue makes cyan. Bluish-green in its appearance, cyan is one of the three primary colors included on the subtractive CMYK color model.

Anyway I doubt it. Microsoft always aimed for market control, GamePass is their way of doing it - trying to make their product appeal to consumers!

Because you’d need to stream those games and streaming games is not great?

It will never happen...

I don't think people understand how much Sony wants to take MS out the console business completely, they have proven time and again that they have zero interest in playing ball with MS.

Sony still has a great track record and solid lineup of first party games that they know people will pay $70 for so they are not even thinking about game pass right now

As long as Sony is the market leader Gamepass will never be on PS for the same reason you cant buy a netflix sub on iphone. Platform owner taking 30% off the top means each sub loses money.

Just like they would leave "money on the table" making Zenimax exclusive right?
Uhm, Xbox doesn't care about hardware.. They're solely a software company - especially going forward with Game Pass.
Let's hear it from the horse's mouth (Phil Spencer): "So we built Xbox Game Pass -- it started on console, it will come to PC, and eventually it will come to every device -- we use the flywheel that we have with customers on an Xbox to start the growth in Xbox Game Pass. But as somebody sitting back and taking a longer-term view of where our business is going, you should look at that as a business model that we think scales to billions of people not hundreds of millions of people like retail does."

Every thread where there is gamepass or Xbox exclusive game is full of Sony fans saying they will just play them on PC

So effectively Microsoft has a bigger install base to sell gamepass
Or these games to
We "forum-users" are the minority. Don't make an assumption, based on console-war threads - especially not here on NeoGaf :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Way too much pride in that I bet. I think there is no way and I wouldn't either if I was in Sony's position.

I am making the assumption based on how many PC user microsft can tap into. A lot more than Xbox or PS

5 Stages of Grief

1 Denial - 'GamePass is overrated and bad for developers. No way Bethesda games are going to be exclusive!!!!!'
2 Anger - 'Spiderman is different. THIS is anti-consumer!!!!! Evil M$!!'
3 Bargaining - 'GamePass on Playstation: Could this happen?" <-------------- We are here
4 Depression - 'No PS5 GamePass? Oh well....I'm bummed to learn that Indiana Jones is an XBOX exclusive'
5 Acceptance - 'Hey Guys!!! Just bought an XSX!!! What's your gamertag?'

why are you assuming they are only ps fans.. do Nintendo fans don't have pc or pc fans?

you are letting some people live rent-free in your head
If you can point me to Nintendo fans jumping into Xbox threads shouting how they don’t need an Xbox because they have a switch and a pc then am happy to call them out to 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Like smartphone users Vs. PC users - if they want to hit billions of users they have to eventually ditch their own hardware exclusivity.

When Microsoft closes the door on hardware, its a possibility. Otherwise Sony making money off ms service is not going to happen.

You guys jump from straw to straw. "Xbox has no games" to "lolz they need to moneyhat" to etc etc.

Just take it for what it is. Even thinking about Gamepass on Playstation anytime soon is laughable right now.

Exactly... he doesn't. Thats why he announced they're exclusive besides the contracts they're honoring. He doesn't care about all "gamepass is bad" threads or any other hot takes.

PC install base is bigger than all 3. They don't care about Playstation install base.

Like putting Bethesda games on PS5?

Gamepass maybe their future goal, just like streaming is the future and no one wants to accept it, but this is all way in the future. I predict 50mil Gamepass subs by the end of the gen, whihc would be huge, but when you add in all Xbox, PC, Playstation, and Nintendo gamers, you're probbaly talking 400mil gamers, and thats not taking into account the casual mobile market.
Its going to be a long time until Gampass, streaming, and other subscription services are the only way we play games.

I think no, at least for a while.

I think in Sony's side Sony will prefer to keep PS4 & PS5 for PS for PS Plus, PS Now and EA Play and to cockblock MS to avoid helping Game Pass to grow too much.

In MS side, I think that before considering if they try to move to Game Pass to PlayStation, they will want to double check how it performs the idea of launching a console where all its exclusives since day one are also available on PC both at sale and on Game Pass. Because I think it can benefit Game Pass but really hurt Xbox hardware and game sales (both for the games included there and for the games not included there people won't buy the people focused on playing Game Pass titles only).

If in 2025, once they release their first big batch of next gen only games during a couple of years, if their transition from focusing on selling games and consoles to focus on Game Pass and DLC on both Xbox and PC works fine, I think they will continue with that. If it doesn't work as they expect I think they will have 2 options: to stop releasing new games on Game Pass or in PC day one and go back to focus on Xbox, or to multi/3rd party both for game sales and Game Pass in order to chase a bigger install base.

If they end going 3rd party and silently abandon Xbox, then Sony will open itself to Game Pass and to get the games.

all it would take is for microsoft to declare the project xbox a definitive failure and start just focusing on trying to become the netflix of gaming..so yeah it's possible..no idea how likely though..in fact i still don't understand what their strategy is with the xbox brand

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Microsoft just said don't expect to see ES and Fallout on other platforms than pc and Xbox and you expect game pass to come onto PlayStation?

How the port begging has turned the last few weeks.

Nah, not in the current state.
MS would first need too-
1. Stop selling Xbox consoles;
2. Remove third party games from the service.

No they don’t, pc is their platform to and smartphone it’s just an app.
Xcloud is an app and that will be the major focus in the future - hell, even my Android TV runs Xcloud. I can easily see PSNow on Xbox and Xcloud on PlayStation in the future. They even use the same servers.

Just take it for what it is. Even thinking about Gamepass on Playstation anytime soon is laughable right now.
Agreed - they will not make a deal within the next couple of years, but - I do think the deal with streaming "exclusive" games on other platforms will happen within this generation - hence the "Games will run best on the native platform"-lingo we've seen the last couple of months.
