You mean to tell me this is a bug???

I've spent over an hour thinking I'm missing some plot point at the crash site. But it's my preorder bonus?! Damn... I still fucking love this game though :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:
Had the exact same bug at the exact same place. Shame. They need to iron this out quickly.

So I was thinking of my botched run, replaying it in my head over and over again, and I realized that having extra health doesnt really help. I spent a lot of Obliotes on getting the 25% integrity upgrades twice when i couldve just stacked up on health packs instead. Once you run out of the second health bar during a boss fight, you will pretty much never get it full again. Having more health packs is more beneficial in that scenario.

I had the parasite thst grants you a second use on consumables. Had the large health pack and was able to use it twice on the first and second boss

Doesnt that parasite give you a malfunction on use? The last thing I want is a malfunction on the boss.

most of the time I can’t get very good RNG luck for med kit drops

Thanks for answering, I've been trying to decipher all the little systems going on, and I though Dark Souls was obtuse, I do have a decent headset (Hyper X Revolver S) but I am highly considering buying the Pulse headset at some point

Look at the steelseries arctis line, they have wired/wireless and better than the Pulse imo.

How do you get that? It almost never drops for me. It's a parasite right?

Sorry had to get to sleep last night.

I believe I had a straight up suit augment that gave the regen, but I've definitely seen it on a parasite, one I didn't pick up in fact because I already had the perk. Bring ups the question of "item stacking" which I don't know the answer to.

I think some of my better runs have been with going for malignant items or risking malfunctions or whatever (I don't know the right terms even after playing this game for 24 hours). A lot of the time if something has a "moderate chance" it won't trigger, and I've even been lucky where several items or parasites that were "High to Very High" didn't even trigger a malfunction.

Could it better balanced? Probably, but it's not the worst thing in the world to take a negative effect, just gotta pick and choose.

I'm also surprised Slimy that you couldn't find a better gun even after doing the entire 1st biome. That's either some awful RNG or you missed a secret room with guns. Seems like they was at least 1 secret, 3-chest gun room in all of my 1st biome playthroughs.

I spent 10 hours to beat it.

My tips:

Stay as far away as possible. Glue yourself to the wall and keep moving left and right.
Dodge his close attacks. Jump and dash for the circular energy fields.
Melee attack when he reappears after moving through the room.

You can do it. Take an extra life (astronaut artifact) but it’s very doable without it. Didn’t use it when I beat him.

Biome 2 is amazing. No idea the map would open up like this. Some of the most absorbing levels I’ve ever played. Game is a gem.
Thanks. Gonna try again today. I need to get a health pack too.

Most important is not using the dualsense for 3D audio. Especially in this game. I’m not familiar with those headsets but if they have their own VSS you’ll be using usb and most of the wited usb headsets seem to have compression too. I think wireless USB adapter headphones like the pulse or people using optical workaround with 3D enabled are getting the best sound possible from this game because it is the first game made from the ground up with headphones using tempest in mind. It’s really really great sounding. I wish there was something written about this with HMs input because I’m curious what they did differently and how involved Sony was to get an idea what we can expect going forward.

I used to use a Steel series headset, I forgot what model (it was Orange and White ) and yea I'll admit it was great, I just wish I could find a decent set that I could use on both consoles

Yeah, i know where that room is in the third biome, but it needs a key and I had used them on other rooms which ended up containing just parasites or augments.

Next time though, im taking a level 2 holoseeker or carbine over that trash pistol.

I'm talking about the 1st biome specifically. I would pretty much do all of it, going into the side areas and looking for all the secret rooms, before heading to biome 3. Getting to the big bridge, crossing it and ascending the tower. As you said before there's not much in the way of fabricators or vendors when you go right to the tower. I think I was lucky enough to have a regen bed that I saved before the boss. So I teleported back to it, healed up and started the fight.

I think you'll get it on the next attempt barring any bad RNG.

PSA: As many of you are using rest mode. Make sure in the PS5 settings to disable automatic update installs. If a game has to update while in rest mode, it will close out your game. Especially since there was an update to this game today.
We're most likely going to get more updates as they fix the various issues in the game, so I'd disable that in the least.

Edit: I would turn both settings off that pertain to updates on the Console and update at the start of a fresh run when available. I turned mine on and I'm at the start of the 4th Biome after just getting to 5.

This game would really benefit from the xbox quick resume feature.

That Insider Matt from ERA stating back late last year that Sony is working on having a similar feature.

While not in time for Returnal, hopefully with this game, Sony is seeing that this would be an important feature to have.

7x and Penrose x. You just can’t use chatmix on PS.

I love Souls games but I don't find this kind of difficult level enjoyable.
I had a pretty good run and I deliberately build up my health and was trying to find a better weapon for the boss. Then I got into a lockdown room with full of enemies and pits, so I died.

I don't like that for building up the full health you have to pick up healt pick ups with a full health. It's boring to constantly returning to the ship and sleep.

I still haven't finished the first boss/biome and it's pissing me off.

I'm a fucking choir boy or I just ain't build for this game.

Fffs. They really need something for players who don’t enjoy this bullshit. I’ve never been good at boss fights, I enjoy everything but that with this game. I got so close and I just can’t kill the first guy

I don’t like their is no way to increase adrenaline on the boss. Cuz of course I’m gonna get hit

Try melee and dodge first phase. Melee second phase early then move away and just dodge shoot and hard dodge when he tries to melee and when he does the laser

Got to Biome 2 and got the trackmaster weapon. Easily the best shooting experience I've ever felt on a console. I remember pre current gen and those threads on gaming forums that literally went millions of posts about a spec sheet's potential...

But it's the Dualsense that's single-handedly breaking gamings status quo. It's an absolute immersive gaming joy to experience!

Man idk, I loved the first biome 10/10, but absolutely hate the 2nd. I'm having zero fun now.

Couple things.

I'm going back through and just beating everything again. I capped out on Artifacts before the second boss. Can't pick up shit now. There are stat augments though.

On my way through 3rd biome, I was fighting and dashed off the side of a structure. Got stuck in an infinite free fall, run was over because it kept dropping me and killing me. They should put you a bit further from the edge you fell from, that would stop that. Not to mention how many times I've fallen and was holding forward and just ran right off the edge because they stick you inches from the cliff you fell from.

Infinite freefall = run over is some bullshit though. I was super overpowered.

Do you really need a headset? Cause you could just use any decent pair of headphones with a 3.5mm plug.

Good to see stuff like this from fans of other consoles. People shouldn't sleep on this game. The combat is sublime. It might just be the best playing third person shooter on the market. Id rank it up there with TLOU2 and MGSV.

If anything, I hope Coalition just drops Gears and focuses on something more fast paced like this than the tanky and boring Gears. Also surprised it took almost 15 years since Gears 1 for someone to implement active reload in a shooter.

P.S I'd highly recommend Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem if you are a fan of this game's combat. Those two games have issues, but combat isnt one of them. The games control like a dream on PC at 60 fps, and the weapons and abilities make them extremely fun and rewarding to play.

I'm still getting merc'd but now that I have a laser sword for melee the gameplay fun has been pumped up a notch. And ever since finding the boss, the level design has taken on whole new appearances. Usually the boss ends up being a lot closer so I stumble in before I've grinded enough health/weapons. Just a matter of patience and smart playing at this point.

I am really enjoying the roguelike elements in this. It makes starting all over a lot more fresh and fun. I am still making my way through a level with x, y, and z, and a boss, but the level itself is changing, it keeps things interesting.

I would be interested in reading just how these levels are generated, is it entire rooms snapped together, or bits and parts of geometry?

Also I got to say how satisfying it is to shoot bad guys in this game. I'm getting a real strong arcade vibe here, Galaga style, or Contra, whenever you are in a room with a bunch of enemies. It is just so fun to mash that shoot button over and over!

No malfunction. Something positive and something negative for your abilities.

Sometimes the pros outshine the cons or you don't mind at all what the negative effect is, depending on your playstyle.

In some runs i don't use any because i can't bear the effects and sometimes i have 5 of them on me within the first 20 min.

Yeah, and you'll want to disable either that or both of the install update option in system settings. I didn't disable the other and I ended up restarting Biome 4 when I just got to 5. Not too bad, but a bit frustrating still.

So basically EVERYTIME in the first biome you just need go rest to the ship if you get hit instead of grabbing green items... to maximaze your HP while also get enough moolah to buy you an astronaut and a large medkit? and then move on where you need to progress?

You can wire it to the DualSense. Tried the Pulse 3D wired to the DS and it provides 3D audio, same with A40 but A40 is muddy and not as clean. I like the separation and locality, clarity, and clean bass the Pulse 3D has vs my Astro A40 that I ended up giving it to my nephew.

Seems like a lot of hassle, but could work well.

But you can only use the bed one time and it is not even healing you completely i think.

Ideally yes. This is a good strategy. But it's also cumbersome and a lot of work. But it could potentially help you become much more powerful in the first Biome.

Another tip would be - leave the chests until you've maxed out your proficiency (say, right before you tackle the boss), that way all the weapons you find in the chests will be powerful, and you'll have your pick of what to use on the boss.

Then we should wait and revisit and grab all the healing items at once before moving to the next area...
