But hardcore ecosystem supporters dont want their games on other platforms because they feel upset and it devalues the brand because random PC gamers around the world are playing a game that used to be on PS systems only.
Nah there is more to it than that. I listed a bunch of what if scenarios last year when rumors of horizon going to PC and they are all turning out to be true.
The gist of it is very simple:
- Multiplatform games take far more resources. They are more expensive.
- Multiplatform games are far less polished.
- Multiplats take longer to make. Take resources away from base game. See how GG took 6 months to fix the PC version of Horizon. You cant tell me that didnt affect the PS5 development causing delays.
- Multiplats have only one goal in mind. Make more profits. First party console games are not meant to make profits. See Shawn Layden's comments on Bloodborne.
- When profits become your main objective, you turn into every other greedy publisher like activision, EA and ubisoft. Games are rushed out to meet fiscal year deadlines. They are no longer designed to show off your console to get people in your eco system because you dont really want people in your eco system anymore.
Nearly all of this has come true. See how MLB the show did not have any next gen upgrades because they had to port their game to Xbox. See how GoW and GT7 is now being held back by the PS4 because to them selling PS5s is no longer a priority. To them selling software to as many people is how they make the most money. Games are being held by the PS4 today, who is to say they wont look at the fact that the 1060 is the most popular card on Steam and force their devs to make a 4 tflops card their base for next gen games going forward?
