It's a self published indie from a new dev studio.

It's maybe a bit weird Sony didn't invite them to show a trailer or something during their presentation, but other than that it's not the type of game you'd actually expect to have a big marketing campaign.

Anyway, I expect it to be fun but not amazing 5-6 hours game. But I can see people being disappointed by it as I think the visuals and Sony exclusivity has some expecting it to be more than what it is.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
My hype kinda personally died when this went from being a "launch window" title to being nearly a year out from launch.

I'll probably pick it up at some point, but probably on a sale.

This could be the reason??

I don’t think that’s a good sign, they could at least send it to big outlets, where it is unlikely that anything is leaked. This could be rather a sign that they don’t want reviews to come out before people buy the game.

I mean it sounds like this kind of excuse, of course they don’t want to write: we will send out review copies one day before launch, because we don’t think it will get good reviews and we don’t want initial sales to suffer from it…

I hope that I am wrong but I fear I am not.

The reveal last year set my expectations very high.
I always thought it to be an expensive zelda clone. It seems we will get something much "smaller" than this.

Still interested but I will not buy before a lot of reviews/impressions.

Kinda Funny has copies. I'm sure some big outlets will have reviews out.

I’ve always thought it looked nice visually, but I worry the devs are punching above their weight with this one. I’m expecting a 6/10 game, but I honestly hope it is better than I’m anticipating.

Everybody here crapping on this game before even playing it..........

The usual GAF nonsense.

Then if the game turns out great, "No one said it was going to be boring or rubbish" or "There is a reason why Sony put it in their showcases...."

Yep, pathetic soyboys

This game was only good for fanboy list wars. It never was super hyped or marketed, its an indie title.

Dont care much for it tho, hope it turns out good for those who do.

It got the looks it deserved.

There’s no way it should’ve made the showcase, it’s bad enough Deathloop made an appearance.

It’s not a sizeable game to warrant a SOP either, but it will get it’s story/release trailers like every other exclusive indie.

There’s not too many indies that receive special treatment outside of — I don’t know… “Abandoned”.

I mean the game looks like a standard indie game. It isnt even getting a retail release. How many of those get marketing pushes?

this was featured in like 4 state of plays/conferences. If you werent sold then you arent gonna be sold today.

Just because sony is inexplicably charging $40 for an indie game doesnt mean its more than an indie game. Shouldve been priced like hades. $25.
How in the absolute living fuck does this look like a “standard” indie game? The graphics on this put several AAA games to shame. How much are they paying you tbh

Good graphics doesnt make it a AAA game.... Its literally advertised as an indie game...hence why its 39 bucks

When Disney lost a ton of money on Mulan they could just write it off with another profitable movie. When an indie dev spends on marketing and it doesn't work out it's game over.

There is a reason why the game industry has consolidated into big publishers with deep pockets.

Aside from quality, it's possible Sony dropped it from the recent showcase because there is Twitter/Erasphere controversy alleging the studio overworked and underpaid employees at some point. Sony preemptively distancing themselves before the Schreier hit piece or sexual abuse shoe drops. Kena is a defacto Playstation exclusive with almost nothing shown of it. Only explanation for its omission is that its either a 2 hour turd, or Sony wants nothing to do with the studio (see also Quantic Dream).

Does the publisher set the price? If so that's Ember.

Also this is hitting EGS simultaneously.

Aside from this every preview I've seen is extremely positive. Going to have to wait on reviews but I've already bought it.

Personally, the GameSpot preview from back in June sold me on the game as there seems to be more depth to the game than I originally thought. It looks amazing and the combat/gameplay looks very fluid and responsive plus it's 60FPS on PS5 so im all in. After playing a clunky AC Valhalla for 100+ hours or whatever it was, Kena will be a breath of fresh air.

Will buy and download the game on Tuesday morning and then play it the entire day. Will also be playing on hard difficulty so zooming through the game in a few hours isn't going to happen. I'm expecting Kena to last me 12 or so hours to do everything the game has to offer.

Looking forward to Kena on Tuesday and it's a perfect change of pace game while im waiting for Far Cry 6. Let's go baby!!! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Everyone have to start from somewhere, I want got in to this game with open mind and give them a chance, even this game might end up having issues they might learn from their lesson and apply that to their next project.

You got that wrong:
If the game sucks, blame woke diversity hires
If the game gets good reviews, blame some woke diversity plot point
So help me god if there's one black character in this tentatively asian mythos land, I'm gonna lose it. Won't someone think of the lore/historical accuracy/suspension of disbelieve.
