I thought they said all Steam games will run fine on Deck or something like.
You probably didn't even read what the criterias were about.I thought they said all Steam games will run fine on Deck or something like.

Most probably will but there will be exceptions.I thought they said all Steam games will run fine on Deck or something like.
This is really smart. Still waiting for reviews on some things before I get one but I'm looking forward to hearing more.
Sounds like a great time.Imagine being the intern at Valve that has to play all those hentai games just to see if they work with the Steam Deck
This will put many modern reviewers to the shame. THIS is how you review a game. Amazing.
Hope new reviewers follow this standart.
Didn't watch the video huh?So basically "supports a controller and supports 720p". This is really just a marketing thing.
No, read the thread and looked at the pictures that show the criteria. What did I miss?Didn't watch the video huh?
The parts explaining why it's not just a marketing thingNo, read the thread and looked at the pictures that show the criteria. What did I miss?
Are they different to the things listed in the pictures in this thread under input/display/seamlessness?The parts explaining why it's not just a marketing thing
- Works on the Deck with no tinkering required by the userNo, read the thread and looked at the pictures that show the criteria. What did I miss?

Most of that is nothingsauce.- Works on the Deck with no tinkering required by the user
- Properly uses the Steam Deck's controller, not just any controller
- Never forces the use of touchscreen or a hardware keyboard from start to finish
- Has legible text at the Deck's screen size and resolution
- Provides a good play experience on the Deck with at least 30fps of performance
So I'd say you missed a fair few things besides "supports a controller and 720p".
A game like FF7 would probably get a yellow playable rating because of the annoying launcher which you need to navigate with a mouse/touchscreen before starting the game. Most of that is nothingsauce.
- The Deck is a PC so games will work with no tinkering required.
- The Decks controller is the same as a 360 controller.
- PC games don't force touchscreen controls on anything because 99.99999% of pc's that people play games on don't have touchscreens. Basically zero games require a hardware keyboard.
- "good play experience" lol. Doubt there are many games that won't hit 30fps on low at 720p.
Lol you can find all this info on pcgamingwiki. This will put many modern reviewers to the shame. THIS is how you review a game. Amazing.

This. This is the visionJust get Proton to god tier so I can install POP_OS on my laptop. This is why the Deck must succeed. For the greater good, dammit! Turn all them motherfuckin' games green!
Actually, no.Most of that is nothingsauce.

I’ll say this again. Nintendo needs that Pro model faster than they think.
This is going to sell like crazy overseas. If monster hunter rise/world and Ff14 run well on steam deck. God I really do pray for Nintendo that they have figured out their issues with developing switch games.
So, come on. Stop with this doodoo. The verified mark will be very important to let people have a properly seamless play experience on the Deck. If it's a "marketing thing", then it's only marketing for the games themselves, improving their sales on the platform.
Why would a reviewer go into technicalities
Games don't have to detect they're running on the Deck lol. What are you even talking about?Actually, no.
- The Deck is a very particular PC, held to very particular standards. If a game requires custom graphics settings, that's tinkering. If a game requires a community controller setup, that's tinkering. Etc, etc.
- The Deck's controller is very much not the same as a 360 controller, for one, and for another a game does not need to support a controller at all, in order to pass the check - an old-as-heck game that only knows keyboard and mouse, will still get a pass if it has Steam Input support and ships with a default control layout that is comfortable to play.
- "PC games don't force touchscreen controls" and "Basically zero games require a hardware keyboard", have you actually played, any game that isn't a console port, ever? Even then a lot of games that would require you to enter a name, don't use a gamepad-friendly controller on PC, because PCs are assumed to have keyboards for typing. Some games have their own launchers that require you to type your login and password, and those expect to see a normal keyboard, and don't automatically bring up the onscreen one, either.
- Uh. Sure. Now the Deck is some mythical beast that can handle any game at 30fps. Nevermind that the game actually has to be able to scale that low in the first place, and then actually detect that it's running on the Deck and automatically select the appropriate profile.
