It's not a diversion, it's a variable very much like GP. Now lets try to do this correctly.
What metrics do you think you need to answer the question 'has Gamepass effected third party publisher sales'? Include ones that we know we don't have.
Gamepass subscribers
Xbox console mau*
PS console mau
Booking by platform.
It's Animal Crossing all over againSuch a shit game sold thanks to covid
I know you're desperate for Gamepass to fail, but the 2:1 ratio in software sales we see here is pretty much exactly the 2:1 ratio of consoles sold. Has nothing to do with Gamepass.Damn, PS nearly 2x Xbox numbers.
You can't dismiss those numbers like the boxed sales thread and hide behind digital numbers now.
I guess the difference in software sales is due to Gamepass confirmed?
On xbox platforms, I think it will decrease sales. In general, I don't have the numbers to say and this is also another part of it that devs have commented on. It's effectively another form of marketing. I can't find any numbers to prove these two theories yet, I don't think the YoY ratios prove the first theory.Gamepass does not increase software sales. It decreases it. Yes or No?
I cant see any situation other than Gamepass acting as a disruptor for consumer purchasing habits and negatively impacting the software sales.
At least can we agree on this? Gamepass does not increase software sales. It decreases it. Yes or No? By how much it affects sales is anyone's guess, as MS obviously does not disclose software sales.
MS is pushing the rental service as the main focus of the platform, so why wouldnt it impact purchasing habits, being such a great value?

Does this stay true forever? I don't know.
The other thing that we don't really account for and can't at the moment is whether GP sells consoles and who to. If it does, what is the behaviour of those additional users?
This is a great experiment for me personally

In 2106, yeah. We can do some estimates to see if this remains true but need console numbers. But didn't Ubisoft say that Xbox players spend a lot more money than PlayStation players?
It fluctuates. Last year Q2 it was true. This year it's about even. But didn't Ubisoft say that Xbox players spend a lot more money than PlayStation players?
You got a link or how you are figuring it out? Might be useful for me.It fluctuates. Last year Q2 it was true. This year it's about even.

higher % of Xbox users bought ubi games than PlayStation users, so with you logic gamepass is increasing sales of non gamepass games. Every number leads to gamepass. This has nothing to do with me wanting Gamepass to fail.
If Gamepass is the cause for the difference in software sales ratio, then MS did an excellent job with their strategy. More people on Xbox are renting games instead of buying them. They increased their subscriber base at the expense of software sales. Money is still coming in, by a different avenue.
But specifically for the last quarter? I need to fill out the data set.Think about that.
Xbox Series sales are closer to PS5 sales right now than Xbox One was to PS4 yet PlayStation share went up by 10% while Xbox share went up by 3%
Something caused the change.
Causal effects can only be seen after a while. The numbers have always fluctuated (sometimes a lot, see PC now), so it makes no sense to already search for reasons.Think about that.

It's in the third post. Q2 20-21 was 27:16, aka 62:38, aka Xbox likely outspent PS per capita. You got a link or how you are figuring it out? Might be useful for me.

Ubisoft single-player games aren't on Gamepass. Again, I know you guys really want Gamepass to fail, but you make no sense.PC also has Gamepass
Ubisoft single-player games aren't on Gamepass. Again, I know you guys really want Gamepass to fail, but you make no sense.
I'll wait for the game to come to Gamepass. How many times did we hear this phrase from Xbox users.Ubisoft single-player games aren't on Gamepass. Again, I know you guys really want Gamepass to fail, but you make no sense.
Didn't like origins, didn't bother looking at odyssey. Last one I enjoyed was Unity, I did play the brother and sister one but that's about when the series started going down hill. Since then the games feel like a totally different genre. My recommendation would be just get a uplay+ sub for 1 month. Will be enough to finish if you like it, with some time left to check out some other things.I've been contiplating playing Valhalla, been itching for a good mature open world game... Many people here and on YouTube don't seem to like it... For you guys that didn't like it, did you guys also not like Odyssey?
So...in other words...console/hardware sales do matter.
Because it gets kinda confusing when we talk about things like this and folks mention console sales dont matter, its an outdated metric, etc.
I'll wait for the game to come to Gamepass. How many times did we hear this phrase from Xbox users.
Moving goalposts I see. You were saying that more people are renting games on Xbox which is simply not true. My numbers clearly show that on Xbox more people are buying games (talking about this thread only, we don’t have data for all 3rd party releases) vs on PlayStation.MS usually get exclusive marketing rights to Ubisoft games (Valhalla, the Division, Rainboy 6 ect..), so their games tend to be directly marketed to their audience.
Having said that, your metric of higher % is irrelevant to the over all volume of the sales being nearly 2x on the PS. The total sales is what matter, at the end of the day, not your userbase metric.
I'm not sure if the playstation community should be proud about buying that shitshow of a game tho
People like to shit on Ubisoft.I've been contiplating playing Valhalla, been itching for a good mature open world game... Many people here and on YouTube don't seem to like it... For you guys that didn't like it, did you guys also not like Odyssey?
And yet they keep buying Ubisoft games.I'll wait for the game to come to Gamepass. How many times did we hear this phrase from Xbox users.
I am slowly putting the data together and damn ubisoft for their categories. The one combining 360, ps3 and Wii won't play nice.6 years ago 45% vs 30%, PC got stronger
i have been saying this.
And some people said that "well its just physical sales chart"
...no, majority of people will not buy games physical or digital as long the game is available on gamepass.
This is a key point. When the systems launched last year Valhalla was kind of adopted on the xbox side because they had no first party representation for new games or upgrades that weren’t on gp. That’s why the attach rate is so high.Valhalla was also the go-to game on Series X
You do realize there is a reason why people subscribe gamepass? You do realize that attach rate per unit is basically the same between PS and Xbox here right? LOL
Yeah, selling twice as many systems has a tendency to also increase software sales. Ubi only has legacy titles on GP anyway.
It looks good, but plays like every other open world ubisoft title. Boring as fuckPeople like to shit on Ubisoft.
Valhalla looks good, biggest problem I heard the most was that it was too big/long.
Why would anyone be happy for high selling of Ubisoft recent tiltles. Chessuz, what a world.
Capcom a while ago released a platform breakdown of sales of different games, and the sales ratio in favour of playstation was massive compared to xbox. Someone posted it on era.I think Ubisoft games tend to cater more towards the Xbox consumers with them being more western themed and MS having exclusive marketing rights for most of their games. Therefore, Sony having 2x lead over MS in Ubisoft software sales is somewhat surprising.
Now imagine what the ratio would be like for the Japanese publishers such as Capcom and Square Enix. I won't be surprised if the ratio is 85 to 90% in favor of Playstation.
