GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition |OT| Ah shit, here we go again

Yes, it's on fidelity mode.

But something that looks like that should ABSOLUTELY be able to run at 4k60 on a PS5. Zero excuses.
Maybe the PS5 isn't as powerful as we thought it was all this time? One of those ..."Yes but can it handle Crysis?" moments....... :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Is there a possibilty to refund the game on Rockstar Launcher?
Edit: ok there is a refund possibilty but it requires not playing the game more than 2 hours.

I loaded San Andreas up on my Xbox just now, the TV went crazy flickering and I couldn't really see the game, then the Xbox shut off and my TV (Sony) turned off and started flashing a red light I've never seen in the four years I've had it.

I tried again and same thing happened, had to change to 1080p in Xbox settings for the game to load properly... Just a PSA in case anyone else encounters the same thing

I just took that second shot from the trailer when I made that post. Here's the timestamp in the video:

(16 seconds~) It's not cropped or zoomed to be dishonest, this is what Rockstar used as a point of comparison.

Read the post I was responding to. The point is the original game never looked that bad to begin with, not even on PlayStation 2, I'd know - I play the living hell out of it on release. If you want to continue to argue in this pathetic pedantic style. "Unverified PC screenshot" - it's a screenshot I took earlier today. I started replaying Vice City when they announced the Definitive Editions as I'd not touched them in a couple of years. I'm sorry you feel the need to argue is an intellectually dishonest, pedantic, and rather poor way. Perhaps in future through the power of self-reflection you'll be able to improve the way in which you communicate.

No see, you have this backwards. I'm not the one arguing in an "intellectually dishonest, pedantic, and rather poor way." If you're going to bitch about comparisons then fucking show something meaningful. If not, expect to be called out accordingly.

I'm not the one providing bullshit and making claims. The original games look terrible, especially by todays standards (outside of some legit arguments around the fog/haze with San Andreas or orange sunlight type artistic things). Comparison's will always be done to show worst to best, or "best" depending on your own opinions.

That's all I'll continue to engage with this nonsense. Good day.

(you're allowed to dislike the definitive edition, that's not what I'm discussing)

Just tried San Andreas on series X. Looks terrible. Super super dark. And I can’t believe the default graphics mode is the choppy unlocked 30fps. It’s better when you switch to performance mode but it’s hella ugly game. Bad first impression.
Bring the contrast down. Increasing the brightness does nothing to help this.

Trying SA.
No HUD options from what I can see. I'd like to turn the majority of it off - especially for OLED.
Also, the minimap is more like a huuuuuge map.

Also, subtitles some times show even when the option for them has been turned off.

Is there a list of the missing songs yet?

Also I cannot fucking believe there is even a "fidelity mode" for it to look this shit. NOTHING should be at 30fps at 4k.

The brightness and contrast levels are all wrong in this game. I'd advise lowering contrast and increasing brightness. The characters a near pitch black in some cutscenes due to the shadows.

This mod is the definitive way to play these games. Some of the features:
  • Countless bug fixes
  • Widescreen support
  • 4k interface
  • Restored music (Billie Jean, BABY!)
  • Full controller support with button prompts
  • Restored original PS2 and XBOX effects
  • Higher resolution textures that are true to original

I would argue that original games still look fantastic. They have this timeless look and are still a blast to play. Few screenshots:

Half an hour into SA. Performance mode looks and runs well. But the one big issue I have is the contrast. Everything dark gets crushed. I already reduced the contrast to a quarter and the crushing still happens. Maybe turn off HDR?
