Etc...

Personally I thought Andromeda and Anthem got hate on way too much. Andromeda imo was a very good game, just had the burden of Mass Effect 1-3 being amazing games so any drop off was more noticeable. Anthem's story was lacking but the gameplay was incredible. Maybe the new Dragon Age ends up sucking but I still have tons of hope about the future of Bioware games, even if it's lower than it was at the start of last gen

Do we even need a new Mass Effect? What’s the point of buying them other than that? It’s not the same studio it was 10-20 years ago. No amount of money thrown at those people is gonna produce something worth playing.

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
As much as I understand the AB purchase by MS, part of me wishes it was EA to save some of their studios. Probably too many licensed properties to be appealing.

You ever try to unmake soup? I'm part of him. And the only way you're gonna get me out without killing him is if I decide to leave on my own.”

What more can I do?
I bought all the Bauldur Gate and Never Winter night games, I bought all the Mass Effect games including Andromeda, I've bought all the Dragon Age Games.
Where did all that money go?
I already knew when Mass Effect1 came out that the company was going down the pan.

How would this "save", overly dramatic but ok, Mass Effect?
Didn't EA straight up buy the IP in 2009? So someone would buy Bioware, and then Mass Effect stays with EA, and then what?

So I started playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Just planned to try it for a bit, free on Gamepass, just wanted to see the visual update.

I’m 13 hours in now… I’m blown away, had I played it last year it would be high on my GOTY list. It’s such an awesome game, I had forgot how much old Bioware did right in this game.
Only question is, could the current Bioware create a game like this from scratch?
I don’t know. If they can they don’t need to be saved. If they can’t, can they be saved?

No because the politics if the day will get in the way of making something timeless.

The studio is nothing without the talents. The key people that were there during Bioware's peak years have all moved on. What exactly are you saving at this point?

I also don't get how Bioware gets to fail so spectacularly on huge projects for so many years, yet others get the boot after one or one and a half failures.
Bioware's been nothing but a money sink since Dragon Age Inquisition released 8 years ago. Andromeda and Anthem were huge losses to EA, but they also cancelled a game during mid-production.

And then studios like Visceral fail at one game (Dead Space 3, because Hardline was a sales success), then someone cancels their Star Wars game and they're shown the door.

It looks like EA is managed by a clique, and if your studio head knows the right people and kisses the right boots then he gets to do a decade of screw-ups.

BioWare is just a brand name for EA to use. The original team(s) we once knew are long dead.
Not dead, just making games as independent studios.

I see that we've reached the bargaining stage of grief.

The BioWare of yesteryear is no more. The sooner you come to terms with this, the better.

Seriously though, if a company like Sony buys EA, I can see how many of their polices can help. Sony isn't really known for just rushing out games, they have made sports games so such a deal can work as they'd be open to keep those existing sports IP on all platforms. In terms of bioware in general, I can see how they'd shape that studio to focus on better quality, open to delay, open to give them to freedom to pick their own engine vs forcing one etc.

That being said, I don't 100% know whats up at Bioware. I don't know if its EA as a publisher or Bioware as a team or a mixture.

Frostbite should have never be forced on that team. EA did that.
Game was rushed and clearly had no business coming out when it did. EA did that.
Even if I question certain design stuff....at the end of the day EA owns the IP and they own the team, that L is on them.

Don't even get me started on Anthem.

Only game I liked from them all last gen was Dragon Age 3 (good ass game mind you lol)

Bioware is dead, they wouldn't be doing shitty remakes of Knights of the old Republic if they actually had fresh new content to create. As soon as you start seeing remakes, whatever core that made the great originals should be considered dead and the existing coat tail chasers are trying to recreate profit through graphical plagiarism

I just don't see the appeal of buying EA. Like you said, they make their money on sports titles for the most part and the leagues can force those to be multi-platform. Dice and BioWare are probably the big draws from a studio standpoint, but I question what talent is left. EA has a massive catalog of IP but you need to create studios to resurrect them. I'd rather just approach EA and try to buy or license the IP you are interested in making a game for.

AAfter play dragon age inquisition, EA isnt biowares problem but bioware itself, everyone good who has worked there has left, inquisition imo is tye worst DA of all time, every side quest is a 2nd thought and it honestly confuses me that they won GOTY for it, really wary of me4 and new dragon age (DA gets worst with every entry)
