I mean, it doesn't change the framerate, but PERCEIVELY it does change and makes it more smooth. Trust me, I have an uncle who works at Sony. He said they will implement VRR when people want better performance and don't think it's a bad thing. He said at this rate, there's no point as people don't mind frame rate drops. Please complain so I can get better performance on my panel. Please just do it.

Why are people here assuming VRR will magically turn 40/50 fps to 60 fps is beyond comprehension. It's just a magical word dumbasses use to try and justify poor performance and optimization.
Sure it can solve Vsync, tearing and MAYBE a bit of juddering problems, but what this game really need is a patch to solve perfomance issues or implement some kind of DSR to make sure it's constant 60 fps.

Sad is stating VRR as a "performance gain". It improves the overall experience in instances where it's not possible to hold a target framerate but a "performance gain" it is not.

Why are people assuming VRR is a bad thing? Thought you had me ignored? It's better to have VRR in games that can't hold a stable 60fps. Personally, I've never met a person who is against VRR, until i got on GAF. Again, I'm excited to play the game on my racing sim, but I'd prefer my uncle to implement VRR

Those drops to 58,59fps on a single track has me missing the original Gran Turismo when the entire game ran at a locked fps......of 25.

You act like your story of starting out with racing games via GT on the PS1 is unique, it's not. Such a huge racing game fan on PC yet you only purchased Assetto Corsa last year.

Everyone agrees that VRR is a good thing and everyone (on Sony's side) is waiting for the update that will bring VRR (at least those with compatible TVs).
But these people aren't actually debating VRR, this scenario here for example doesn't need VRR. The previous quoted user said that the games drops to "high 50 during normal gameplay", that's a complete lie! So it's about the game needing VRR or not, it's just flame war.

Due a single location out of 36 that has framerate issues (it will probably be worked).
And a situation that nobody will face in gameplay.
Outside that the game is locked 60fps and some guys advocate VRR lol
Imagine a place that people wants bad framerate with VRR instead locked 60fps.

Along with iRacing it's been the racing game on PC over the last decade. Not fucking Forza which only arrived on PC in 2016 via Apex, all of which have had subpar wheel support and FFB. But yeh nothing to see here, especially for someone who exclusively games on PC and claims to love racing games.

You can't be that obtuse... people already pointed it to you.
The others 35 locations are locked 60fps no matter how many cars... John had to create a gameplay stressing scenario (a situation that doesn't happen in normal gameplay) to made the game drop framerate.

also, again, in the rain it clearly drops on more than this track.
he showed the absolute worst case scenario, that doesn't mean there aren't scenarios that aren't that bad but still drop.
and as I told you before as well, it's not about how often or low it drops. VRR is best used for games that barely drop frames because if you are already almost there, vrr makes sure it feels like you are there all the way.
VRR can be something that helps a game that is completely awful like Elden Ring, but there you will still absolutely feel the framerate drop. the main use for VRR is 50fps and up or games that can't quite hold a steady frametime output where it makes games that would otherwise have 33ms frametime spikes feel completely smooth.
example, Bloodborne. if you had a VRR screen and played Bloodborne with VRR support, you would literally not feel the framepacing issues of the game anymore.
what is a stuttery mess without VRR even tho it runs at a pretty much flat 30fps, would instantly feel almost stutter free with a screen that can dynamically adjust its refresh

Its absolutely essential for certain games on PC.. for example my 6800xt can't really keep a steady 165fps in warzone to match my monitor so I have to use VRR and the experience is stellar with that turned on.
