What game are you currently playing?

I was playing Elden Ring on PS5 and was kind of advanced but I started to wonder how the game would run on a PS4 Pro just out of curiosity. So I started a new game on that console just to see and it so happens that I couldn't stop and now I'm much further in the PS4 save than on the PS5.

I was playing Horizon Zero Dawn in preparation for Forbidden West but then Elden Ring came and consumed my entire time.

Progressing steadily through Tales of Vesperia, reached the point where I overwrote my save (while making half a dozen more saves, not doing the same mistake anytime soon).
God, the death of Don Whitehorse hit me hard. No idea why, we only saw the guy and interacted with him like 2 or 3 times... I told someone a few days ago the story reminded me of some old adventure shounen manga, where instead of being some epic "save the world" quest, it felt more like an adventure, with various arcs loosely tied together by a deeper storyline, and here we have our Whitebeard. :messenger_crying:
I played that when it came out on the 360 and don't remember the story anymore but I had a great time playing it.

Competed Psychonauts 2 (very strong start, a middling..middle, good ending, 8/10) and now started GOTG. First impressions are very good: the graphics are crisp and clean and runs decently on my 1660ti, but the highlight maybe the soundtrack!

I finished Dark Souls 3 and it was fantastic. Felt a lot faster and more fluid than Dark Souls 2.

Currently playing through Resident Evil 4 in VR on the Quest. I'm also around halfway into Resident Evil 0. I think I'm gonna shelve those two for now and just play 7 instead. I always get a strong urge to that particular game from time to time. Also want to try out that fan game someone made of the original Resident Evil, the one that's in first person.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Still on Dragon's Crown Pro. My fighter is almost at level 99, and once I reach that level I'll challenge the third Ancient Dragon.

Having tons of fun with this game. It's not very challenging most of the time but it's still very enjoyable.

I think they added a 4th difficulty level for the Pro version, wonder how that'll be. Wouldn't mind starting anew with another character too, maybe the cute elf or the mommy sorceress.

Aladdin (SNES)

This version is way more inferior than its Genesis counterpart. It doesn't even feel like Aladdin most of the time, just a bland platformer with The Aladdin skin slapped on. The Genesis version is much more faithful to the movie, with better graphics and animations, smoother gameplay and a better soundtrack.

Finished Trails in the Sky 3. Briefly started Trails of Zero (Steam Asian ver) - but decided to hold it for my Steam deck later this year before moving further into the series.

Felt like I needed some "action" type game - since I've played 2 RPGs back to back... so started Hyrule Warriors - Age of Calamity..
I was actually hoping that by the time I play this game, Switch Pro would have been released and would have boosted the fps...
Surprisingly - although sub-30fps is indeed bothersome, but I got used to it... and actually enjoying the game very much.
I'm at the point of chapter 2 where I found all 4 of the champions, and just about to go into Korok forrest.

It also re-juggled my memory of playing BOTW and the pure scope & detail of that game and made me appreciate the original as well.

Just finished up Quantum Break. I think the reviewers were way too hard on it back in the day. The game is a little short and the live action episodes feel a bit long at times, but the story is good. Would recommend if there is anyone else out there that hasn't already checked this out.

Judgment

Not a fan of the fighting, but of the crime solving, dialogue and story. So far so good.

I know some say Guardians of the Galaxy isn't like Mass Effect but it is....a 3rd person action adventure set in space, with Star-Lord being Commander Shepherd...but a game that feels a bit more alive in terms of banter...but I have to say the battles in Guardians has proven to be a lot more frustrating than in Mass Effect especially that battle when trying to free your ship from the clamps...it's like come on Rocket just bust them open instead of having to fight through horde of enemies just to get to each clamp..

Final Fantasy II

I just finished the first Final Fantasy a few days ago having never completed it and really enjoyed it. Final Fantasy II was a radical departure from the first game and I never did play it (my first FF was VI and I've only gone back as far as FFIII on the DS). No character levels and every aspect of every character needs to be trained (for example if you miss with an attack it builds your accuracy stat so fighting enemies that evade attacks a lot will benefit you much more than fighting basic enemy types). The same goes for spells, which need to be used to level up but as they level up their cost to use increases as well. The dialogue options are robust as well for an old NES game. You can "remember" key words in dialogue and ask other NPCs about those words. Likewise there are important items in the game you can do the same with to figure out your way through the game. Unfortunately (at least so far) pretty much every enemy attack causes a status effect of some kind, usually on the entire party which is a bit grating. It's been a really interesting game so far though, I can't seem to put it down.

One of the coolest names for a videogame also happens to be one of the most insane. A videogame cant possibly get any crazier or difficult. I finally was able to finish this after attempting many times and failing in the early 2000s. The last 2 stages have an autechre-like soundtrack that always stuck with me. Im hoping this game pops up on the next Capcom Arcade Collection.

Final Fantasy IX Remastered on the PS5. Wish I had a gaming PC sometimes, because the Moguiri shit looks ace, and while the character models look great on the remaster, the background art remains pretty blurry and washed out, which is a crime for a game as whimsical as FFIX. Regardless, haven't played this game in going on ten years, so this is a cool experience.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
After Tormented Souls (made a whole topic for it)

Starting Bioshock HD Collection. Got it for only $9.99 on the spring XBL sale. That's $3.33 per game with all their DLCs. No complaints here.

I'm the most eager to get into Bioshock 2 and Minnerva's Den as I haven't touched BS2 in almost a decade and never played Minnerva's Den before.

PS4: The Last of Us 2
XSS: Red Dead Redemption 2
Switch: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Have been playing mostly on Switch. About once or twice a week on PS4, and in some specific opportunities the XSS.

FFX and FFX-2 are my current jam. I'd never played any JRPGs until Chrono Trigger two years ago and I'm slowly getting warmed to them. They're still nowhere as good as CT but damn good games otherwise.

I also really liked to see Bender in the cast.

Currently playing Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins.

Going to Main Mission 9 and doing all side-quests available. I'm leveling up all jobs, really enjoying Berserker gameplay right now. It's really fun to use an axe, charged attacks and be able do regenerate life by attacking.

Was looking through my Xbox OG collection, decided to give XIII a chance. Actually ended up really enjoying it. Definitely aged well for a game from 2003 and has a lot of unique features. Gunplay was probably the weakest aspect.

Now started up Fatal Frame / Project Zero 2 as well, instantly hooked again. Such an amazing atmosphere, great story and fun gameplay. Will probably do 1 as well, though I can't play it on my 360 (PAL version is not BC).

After that one I'm giving Timesplitters 2 a shot. Hoping to find a copy of Future Perfect as well.

When I have lot of time Elden Ring. I'm finding I can't enjoy the game in short sits. So not playing it a lot lately because I don't have that time.

For shorter sessions I'm replaying No More Heroes on Switch. I finished the game when it releases on Wii and never played it again until now. It has surely aged but man, this game has so much character that makes me forgive how clunky it is. Planning on playing 2 next

fought this guy..

almost killed him first try but he had wiped out most of my team and i didn't have enough turns to revive/heal them. i've been trying to get through this game since it came out (yeah i am so slow) and while i enjoy the gameplay loop i'm so tired and just want to finish the game. so i've turned the difficulty down to casual. the area after that boss i made a bit of progress but died so was kicked back to the last save and need to replay it again. it's pissing me off and doesn't add anything to the game. i don't get why they couldn't have had auto save. oh well i'll just keep going.

Am replaying (for, what is it now, 1000th time?) FE: Awakening...'cause I can.
Based and 3DS pilled. I'm gonna start Pokemon Alpha Sapphire with Mudkip as starter. I played the original Emerald and used the Sceptile evo starter. He was very fast but apparently Mudkip is the best starter to pick and Sceptile is the worst.

Fire Emblem Awakening was the best of the Fire Emblem 3DS games I think. Echoes became rediculously grindy and Fates Conquest had stupid story and characters. Conquest had great waifus though.

while on my GAF hiatus i played the shit out of re3 remake and absolutely loved it. straight up may have entered my top 10 or 20 of all time. there was a lot they didnt do, but the stuff they did was immensely enjoyable.

also revisited re2 remake and did a lot this time around. wound up S ranking Leon scenario on hard mode (beat the game in under 2.5 hours with only a few saves). it was immensely enjoyable. i still hate the zombie lunge and how they magnetize to you or do a perfect 180 and somehow manage to latch on, and the boss fights can be just straight up bad, but the re remakes are really well done otherwise.

what else? oh yeah, dead rising remaster. played a ton of that. one of my favorite games ever and i never got around to the remaster. let me just say that ot only was it as enjoyable as the first 10 times i played DR, it was even more so. and it looks and feels amazing in the remaster. i wound up completing achievements and challenges that i never did in previous runs. love that game.

oh and GTA5! i was actually a little underwhelmed by this game. its old so thats totally fair, but i was realy disappointed with the controls. they felt clunky and hard to master. except the driving which was mostly great! but the shooting, movement, and flying (omg flying was the worst) were really dated and, jsut plain bad imo. especially the flying. *sigh* it could have been so much fun but they went with hard to master controls instead of easy and fun. oh well... i still got plenty of enjoyment from the game and im looing forward to revisiting it.

also tried out mass effect trilogy remaster but the combat felt clunky in ME1 (which is a game i adore) and i just couldnt make it. its okay tho bc i play the shit out of those games back in the day. the remasters look great. but i just couldnt get a grip on the controls and movement, which is becoming a big thing for me these days.

Just finished Sekiro. :messenger_astonished:

Hardest fucking game I ever played. Only other Fromsoft was Dark Souls 3 w/DLC. I've got Bloodborne and was planning on playing it after Sekiro but god I need a break. Maybe a a couple months... or a year. And I'm definitely not touching Elden Ring or any other FromSoft game, it' just too much frustration. The games are a mixed bag of good and bad and more than three I don't think I can handle, especially a huge open world one.

Next is Super Mario 3D World/Bowser's Fury. Maybe try Rocket League. The new Kirby game maybe. I'll be sticking to Nintendo for a while after Sekiro... :messenger_grinning_smiling:
