PlayStation: Xbox's Call of Duty offer was "inadequate on many levels"

What are you even on about lmao. He's insinuating Sony had something to do with the remake becoming a "permanent exclusive" even though the timed exclusivity deal ended & Enix ported it to PC but not Xbox, that was their choice, not Sony's. Learn to read next time.
So tell me, why would Square Enix port Crisis Core to the Xbox but not the main game? What reason do you think they would have for this?

Isn’t Nintendo on top right now or at least close to it? They also taken over Japan so I think they are doing pretty good.
They are but they’re sleeping in the sense that they aren’t feeling any threat so they don’t see any reason to do anything. I’ve been wanting a new Nintendo console for quite some time now.

How is this owning Phil? All this is doing is letting the public know that a valuable IP will be exclusive to Xbox in a few years after the deal closes.

U know Lil Reese got shot multiple times, ironic. Jim has held exclusives from Xbox all last gen Spiderman, FF, and SFV and now hes crying. MS better call him out.
It's kind of funny how you guys ignore the fact that Dead Rising 3 and 4, both Capcom games, were Xbox console exclusives last gen (and 3 didn't even come out on the competitor's console, the same case as FF7R!). And it's not surprise, just like with SFV, they needed the money.
Also Spider-Man was a first-party title funded solely by Sony, it wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for them.

And Microsoft will be funding all future COD titles. None of them will exist without them.

Even Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin came out on Xbox...
you are missing the point. no one would miss if the final fantasy origin stranger paradise wouldnt release on xbox. my point is final fantasy isnt as important to xbox as cod for PlayStation, the only thing that would make you have a point is if destiny was to end up exclusive. even you know you got nothing when u are just pulling final fantasy which let's be honest. no one is buying Xbox for final fantasy.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
im hoping this deal approved tbh, so it would make it even harder for Microsoft to pursue the next major acquisition.

They both know CoD sells boxes and is a major mover of product and digital sales. To take it exclusive would not decimate Sony but it would limit their ability to compete in the FPS space. It would be a killer exclusive for Xbox and all parties know it. CoD must make Sony a ton of money because they sound worried.

MS should offer them CoD with the stipulation that they get half the cut of all sales.

It is business not niceness and the game is tough.
I understand where you are coming from, but is it really fair for the consumer in general, particularly when the majority of COD players are on PS consoles, to force them to migrate to another system?

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Jimbo could have kept his mouth shut and people would have assumed CoD would have stayed multi plat until it wasn’t know we know it won’t be that long

O'l Phil at it again.
Remember the what he said when they had just recently acquired Bethesda?

I guess Jimbo still remembers that statement from Phil and knows it didn't last, lol
Well quoted, the fact that some defend this or pretend to ignore it is hilarious and telling… (especially as they go on a “For the payer” troll rampage).

The thing I have trouble wrapping my head around is what business is any of this Sony's? Why are they surprised the games wouldn't be on their platform after a competitor has purchased the IP for $60 billion? Microsoft's offer of 3 years is very generous, as was honoring the deals Sony had in place for Deathloop and GhostWire: Tokyo, let alone keeping Minecraft on Playstation platforms.

Commenting, even lamenting the deal is all well and good, but it feels like there's been a strange sense of entitlement coming from Jim Ryan ever since the deal was announced. IP like Diablo or Crash are never brought up, clearly not having CoD is going to considerably eat into Playstation's profitability.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Let's not assume things.

The majority (of CoD players) were on 360 before they migrated to the ps4. They will follow the game not the console.

Wherever the deals are and early access for maps/modes etc are they will go, as they have already demonstrated.

The same reason MS protested the ARM deal. If they can involve themselves and influence the outcome they'll do it.

LMFAO
the excuses people find to defend Phills lies.
''well yes it put his games on xbox''

again I'm not against exclusivity in fact i hate the fake kumbaya shit that we are all friends and play together bullshit. exclusivity drives better games instead of bloat crap just keep making money of the bigger user base as much as possible.
just call it what it is instead of trying to speak in caveats and shit.

Every company wants to kill the competition, that's a fact! that's why there are laws against monopoly. don't believe for a split of a sec that sony or Microsoft give a shit about each other

I think the clear inference from this rambling response is that you’re unable to provide any source for the claims that “Spencer said exclusives are evil”.

Can’t be ‘defending lies’ when you’re unable to point out a lie.

Yes, but to me it sounds like Phil doesn’t like the idea of Sony creating PS5 exclusives for example.

It’s things like this that make me wonder though. Seems like he doesn’t necessarily care for exclusives, yet they are buying companies up for exclusives?

…I’m not sure how you’re going back to a point you failed to back up before.

Going forward all COD will be fully funded by MS, so I guess that's even better than partly funded.
You can’t be serious… and then you play the non partisan card calling people out. It shows you just would like to go all guns blazing on the blue box when you make comments such as this: sure sure in fantasy land MS buying Activision-Blizzard is the same thing as Sony getting SF5….

Which ones? Many smaller deals didn't go though.. Like Nvidia buying ARM.

the ARM takeover was stopped by Nvidia because they thought they couldn't make a case if regulatory bodies got involved, basically they didn't wanna waste money and risk not succeeding, but who knows if they could have succeeded

motherfucker straight up said bought Bethesda to give exclusive content to xbox. there is a literal video of him. at the same time take starfield off PlayStation and elders scroll as well.
are fucking with me right now lol

What a lot of people don't realize is that the PR speak is really done for damage control and saving a good face. They will tell you what you want to hear, once it is done and time passes (few years in this case) the companies will start throwing left and right punches.

What I think of this? I think it's good to have competition. You can call it greed sure, but at the end of day a business/company only has 1 goal in mind and its to make as much as $$$ as possible. If the competitor has a chance to take away something big from another competitor and the opportunity arises then it will be taken.

I am personally excited too see where it goes, but thats also because I am more involved in a profession industry manner as opposed to customer who just wants to play games.

If Phil Spencer is willing to lie about this, I wonder if he’s willing to lie about the long-term plan for Gamepass subscription costs.
Gamepass has been here for 5 years now. Within the next 5 years the price will increase at least $1 so you can finally call Phil a liar.

In the meanwhile stop being a lame and sign up.

Probably cause they thought they can port the game to PC where it'll most likely sell more than it will on Xbox & shift development resources to CC instead of having to worry about a 2-year old game.

But they weren’t forced to play on PS4. Fair enough if MS had said they’d release all COD games on Sony consoles, but xbox gamers would benefit from new maps first, etc.,

But seriously though, Phil commenting even vaguely at first on a private conversation is seen as rather unethical in the business world.

It wasn't private but even if it was, those happen all the time. Written laws and what is actually enforced are two different things. Everyone knows that deals like these were discussed in unlisted dinners and phone calls. As long as the entities involved are paying their taxes, government institutions aren't going to go hardcore on the companies.

My original comment was that what Phil did, writing and publishing blogs and tweets about the substance of correspondence between business entities was unethical. Just in practice, it’s a bad look. I’m not sure why you are commenting on written laws and enforcement. I wasn’t referencing either.
