PSA: For anyone that thinks a game that'll be out in 2-3 years is going to be last gen too, let me remind you that game dev has done this stuff for years. Heck, Gears of War has a full on playable PS3 version even though that was an exclusive for Microsoft.

It doesn't mean anything outside of them maybe doing some testing.

It means that the game started dev targeting last gen systems. Jason said it started dev in 2014. Why would they target ssds and better CPUs for a gang that started dev that long ago and likely found itself in development hell. 12 years dev time doesn’t mean the game becomes next Gen mid way through dev. Look at the last guardian. Looked but virtually identical to the ps3 reveal on ps4.

Even if they cancel last gen versions, it will still be too late to do anything about it. See how tlou remake, gotham knights and deathloop don’t really look next Gen or do anything next Gen with CPUs or SSDs despite being next Gen only.

Now if there is one developer then can afford to completely overhaul graphics , systems and throw away 5 years of dev it is rockstar but i highly doubt they will be allowed to start from scratch in 2020.

It's alpha footage, so it'll obviously look much better in retail.
Above just better visuals, I really want GTA VI to feature more clever AI, a much more robust physics engine, and more environmental interactivity & destructibility in general.

I wonder if this massive leak is going to force Rockstar's hand in controlling the narrative and perception of the game in the public eye.
Maybe an official announcement isn't too far off?

The visuals definitely look PS4/XB1 level. At this point it's hard to believe they would bother with last gen versions though, so probably old clips.

There was always a good visible graphic improvement over their last title, but this just looks minimal better than GTA5, so it’s either a really early version or the fact that it will be most likely cross gen limited their possibilities. That's what makes me think it's fake, stuff like this usually get taken down very fast by companies. But the smartest move by Rockstar/Take-Two right now would be not to make any statements or take down any videos so people doubt the veracity of this in case it turns out real.
