Sure the bullshit car chase cutscene part looks better, especially on gif.
Yes, the bullshit car chase looks better (that gif is not a cutscene though) but the gameplay gifs i posted look better than the COD gifs you posted.

It's important to remember that the chase scene is all realtime and takes place in the same city. Same asset detail. Same lighting, ray tracing and visual effects. The crashes are realtime. You can recreate some of them in the open world by crashing. Destruction is realtime. It's no different than the stunning TLOU2 on rails chase sequences.

One of the rare next-gen only games, looks decent:

It looks fine. Horizon looks better in spots. I dont know why everyone is losing their shit over this game. It looks good but not next gen.

The whole matrix demo is mind blowing .. I couldn’t believe what I saw the first time I booted it.. some people still in denial.it’s even mind blowing from a technical point of view.

Same I thought it was an FMV that they just hacked to let us shoot at tires. Like that x-files game back in the day. Upon replaying the game, it's clear now that its a game but that first run was simply mindblowing.

Horizon Forbidden West as a whole looks way better than A Plagues Tale and just because a game is next gen only doesn’t mean it's a next gen game…it has to be using the capabilities of the hardware…most games are rooted in old rendering methods and engines.

I agree with the both of you, I thought it looked decent but nothing special honestly, besides the spawn of thousands of rats on the screen at once lol

Imho the one thing that stands out in that game is the draw distance for high detail geometry without constantly fogging up everything to save performance. It may not win in an asset vs asset contest, but the vistas look much less "gamy" than in HFW due to that.

This. I loved the original Plague Tale and thought visually for such a small budget game it was excellent but to me it's more the scale of the game has got larger for the sequel (and the visuals certainly have improved aswell) but now it's being compared to the other AAA big boys and not other AA games it's far less impressive looking imo especially considering it's current gen only and on top of that can't hit 60fps.

I have quite a new gaming laptop which has a good CPU and a 3060 which supports DLSS. I keep meaning to download it on Game Pass and see if it can hit 60fps at 1080p with a few visual nips and tucks. If it can then they should put a 1080/60 performance mode in it. There's nothing wrong with developers making their main setting 4k/1440p at 30/40fps but give the people that care at the very least a 1080/60 mode. We all know these consoles are capable of it when you've got the new God of War pushing the visual envelope while offering a 1080p/120fps mode lol...

I played The Order 1886 yesterday for couple hours and I like its realistic style a lot. Sure, the textures and character models are a little outdated compared to latest games, but the lighting and overall presentation is still mind blowing. I don't think there is any other game even on PS5 and XSX that looks as good. Sadly most people seem to prefer the cartoony/gamey style of modern games, considering games like Driveclub and Ryse failed commercially. Not many games like The Order, maybe also AC Unity, but I wish more games went for this style. And these examples show that you don't need UE5 and super powerful hardware to achieve this.

Ryse and the order failed because they are shitty tech demo, not because people didnt liked the graphic.

People still praise the graphic of these games even today.

Until Dawn came out in 2015 on console only on PS4 and still looks incredible by today's standards. This is an in-game screenshot I took on PS4.

No more floaty hair please.

I don't understand why devs believe hair phsyics equal to "your body on the ground, your hair under water" but seriously, enough with that.

This. I've seen some impressive hair tech over the years, but for some reason the physics always feels so wrong.

Early PS4 games were mighty impressive. Until Dawn, DriveClub, The Order, Killzone, Infamous…

This gen is a huge disappointment in comparison.

It's interesting you said that, because I crealy remember people complaining about how "underpowered" PS4 and Xbox One were when they launched. "Smallest generational leap ever" they called it, basically PS3/360 games but in higher rez.

Time puts things into perspective, I guess.

On the other hand PS5 and Series X are way more powerful compared to available PC technology than PS4 and Xbox One were at launch, no doubt about it. Their GPUs are better (you could get a highly superior 2.7 Tflops AMD 270X for 199 bucks by the time consoles launched, whereas in 2020 even a 9.7 Tflops 5700XT with no RT support was over 400 bucks) , their CPUs are way better (no more crappy Jaguar cores) and their I/O systems are light years away.

I wonder what we'll be saying when PS6 and Series X2 launch, but I'm afraid it'll be the same story all over again. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t know who was saying that. I remember all my friends being blown away with the games I’ve mentioned.

I forgot to list GTA V next-gen upgrade. Difference between 360 and PS4 was shocking. Or the difference between Forza Horizon 2 on 360 vs Xbox One. This gen the upgrades are marginal at best.

Still “early” in the lifecycle thou, we might see some improvements.

Yes. Some guy complaining about lack of physics. In a Sony game. He only has himself to blame.

He literally says that "the game doesn't look great".

And as I provided evidence of the complaining about how underpowered new consoles was most common back then. That's why it's funny to see some people miss that kind of generational leap when back then people make PS4/One out to be the smallest generational leap in gaming history.

Infamous Second Son looks great to this day. I have it installed on my PS5. I can't say the same thing about Infamous games from PS3 era.

You're proven your point. People have opinions that are wrong.

Oh, but of course Infamous SS looks great, no doubt about it, especially now that can be played at 1800p@60 fps on PS4.

To make iy clear that wasn't my personal opinion, on the contrary, it's something I found quite irritating. I remember being a bit tired of people opening threads on how to build a PC more powerful than PS4 for 400 buck, which happened so often everywhere on the Internet than I lost count.

But IMHO the leap was clear as day from the very beginning. I mean, look at Killzone SF, The Order 1886 or Ryse and tell me how you make them run on a PS3/360. And once the likes of Uncharted 4, Horizon or God Of War launched... well, they ended every possible debate.

The story repeated itself when PS4 Pro and One X launched, though... 🙄

Nah, I remember. All those 750Ti comparisons were insufferable. It was always nonsense. PC gamers used to laugh at terms like coding to the metal and yet now when Sony exclusives fail to run on a 6 tflops GPU at 60 fps, they blame it on the quality of the ports.

The new consoles are very powerful but you can have a 13 inch monster cock and still be bad in bed if you dont use it. The CPU, GPU and the SSD arent being used at all right now. Whenever next gen games finally start to trickle out in 2024 (i guess 2025 now) then we will see what these consoles can truly do.

The enemies realtime teaser is available right now. Only 1GB download that finished within a minute.

Demo ran at around 25-45 fps on my 3080 at 4k DLSS Balanced. Going to run some more tests and disable ray tracing to see if this thing is even possible on a console.

Will be uploading my demo runs on various resolutions.

Oh my God, I still remember all those comparisons against the 750Ti. Even DF took part (overclocking 200 MHz the core and 400 MHz the memory of their 750Ti, and pairing it with a much more powerful CPU than the Jaguar in those consoles, by the way). Very questionable methodology, IMO.

There's even a channel on YouTube that put the PS4 up against what they called *The Potato Masher", a $375 PC the PS4 always lost against.

Of course as soon as PS4 Pro launched the channel build.... THE POTATO MASHER Pro!!!

Please have a look at the list of components they use to build the Potato Mashers. Second hand overclocked CPU and GPU, no box at all, no OS, not even keyboard or mouse to be found...etc... It's so funny! 😅

I thought they said the game was running at native 4k on a 3090. They clearly meant with DLSS. Going to downgrade some settings and run it again but I dont see how this runs on a console even at 1080p.

The devs mentioned it WAS possible on consoles.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Everything about Enemies looks amazing... Except for the actual facial animation. Her lips, when she talks, scream video game to me. TLOU 2/Part 1 still have the only genuinely believable facial movements in gaming.

Even with all that horsepower, you can bet your ass Naughty Dogs next real next gen, single player game will wipe the floor with all of these tech demos in the facial animation department.

Talent, studio size and budget will always play equalizer against raw horsepower.

Yeah i posted their tweet in that other thread, but the 3080 results i have with ray tracing off give me pause. 30 fps at 1440p dlss at the start of the demo which shoots up to 67 fps but the end when you get her close up. So maybe that level of fidelity is possible for character models in cutscene but any wide shots will have to be paired down.

At least when using this engine.

Yes The Order 1886 is one of the best looking games ever made…nothing matches its environment’s except TLOU II and TLOU I Remake IMO…it literally looks like CGI in most places…my mouth dropped when I first seen it…I imagined PS5 and Series X with that fidelity all around before they launched and I have been disappointed…only Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Spiderman Miles Morales, TLOU II, TLOU I Remake and The Matrix Awakens were actually on par IMO.

I expected CGI visuals almost immediately this generation with the massively upgraded specifications in these consoles…but cross gen, greed and old engines have kept us at last gen level fidelity in native 4K 60 fps…native 4k is a waste btw, 1440p upscaled to 4k like TLOU II and TLOU I remake is fine IMO.

Ragnorak should look like this on PS5…

Only the matrix awakens, the two Unity demos and Nvidia racer RTX are mind blowing to me…

Also Naughty Dog and Guerilla Games are awesome and impressive

EDIT: no one has matched Naughty Dogs motion matching animation

Looks similar to Love Death and Robots season 1 to me…I remember people telling it was impossible to see real time visuals match it for a long time…
