AMD: Radeon 7900XTX ($999) & 7900XT ($899) Announced | Available December 13th

For those interested, the main advancements were also announced:

FSR 2.2 - An improved version of FSR 2.1 with even less ghosting and artifacts and better performance
FSR 3.0 Motion - This is basically DLSS3, AI Generated Motion Frames to increase framerate
Rapid RX - AMD's answer to Nvidia Reflex, an option to reduce controller latency and response.
Does any of this need RDNA 3.0 hardware or can it be backported to RDNA 2.0 cards like FSR2.0?

Definitely keeping my 3080 this gen, and maybe even the next.
The 7800xt/xtx is the only one really worth upgrading do if it's only ~1.5x, but not paying $1000.
For anyone debating the 4090 vs 7800 xtx, the latter is the better value for sure. Nvidia can always drop their prices and release an undervolted version to look better from power perspective and still compete on performance.

Going off the Forza 5 slides they showed an FPS counter at 127fps @ 4k. A 4090 gets around 145-50fps @ 4k.
Ay what settings and rig? Curious as I get 110ish-144 mostly on the higher end with a 5900x/4090. And that's before DLSS is even out. I'm eager to lock in 4k144 maxed.

1.4 - 1.7x performance up lift isnt that great. Rumors were 2x performance uplift.

And those cards will not be $899-999. Good luck getting them for anything under $1,500.

How is the ray tracing performance?
Meh - I don't think the market is the same as it was a few years ago with all the scalpers - I expect that these will be easier to buy.

That and I can wait - I'm not in a rush to upgrade my rig (yet) - and I'm VERY interested in seeing the final benchmarks on these compared to NVIDIA. If this comes down to same level of rasterization performance as the 4090 but less ray tracing - I'll be switching to AMD as it's a great upgrade to my 2080 FE.

I was a bit out of the loop, what’s the consensus on DLSS 3.0 with frame generation? At this price point it could put a dent on Nvidia.

the vid shows fps going to 165+ , I'm downloading the game now to check for myself but my CPU is a 10900x so prob not the best for showing off max FPS.

Did they mention something about a pre build AMD machine or something? That sounded good I’d get one of those!

If nothing else this puts the glut of Ampere stock in a rather poor position. Wonder if that'll clear before December.

I'd like to see some more benchmarks. Seemed very thin on the ground there in the presentation but regardless the price is a nice dose of relative sanity.

Nvidia are now forced to announce official price drops for the 3XXX series if they are serious about getting rid of them. Currently an incredibly poor value proposition (they already were before with the AMD 6 series price drops but its worse now).

Kinda regret a little bit getting the 3080ti. But next time I upgrade in 3years. I'll have enough option for 4k. Don't think I'll ever go for 8k

Looks like those that were patient in their impending purchase of a 4090 will be rewarded. They will definitely lower the price.

FSR 2.2 and Rapid RX are back ported, FSR 3.0 might be but it's relying on the new AI cores, so it should work on Nvidia Tensor Core GPUs too.

To be honest if Nvidia slash the prices of their 3000 series that might represent a good purchase.

I would buy a 3080 if I could get one for £500 new.

I already upgraded but a sub-$1000 card is exactly what I wished for! AMD is kinda saving the PC gaming industry here tbh, total price for a 4090 rig is absolutely ridiculous, I could show the numbers but I’m not sure I want to see them myself so go check on pcpartpicker yourself.

AMD seems to have much better price/performance for rasterization. Looking forward to seeing the ray tracing comparisons.

I see, he's not running everything at ultra. I'm running mostly extreme settings. Appreciate the link. I'd like to see how similar rigs run it at extreme. I also don't run RT since it's redundant right now. The DLSS update should be interesting to the game.

Protip: If the card compared favourably to a 4090 they would have compared it to that and not a RX 6950 XT. It makes the RTX 4080 look really bad though.
Agreed but I’m glad they didn’t try to compete with 4090. “Kinda almost as good as 4090 at $200 cheaper” is not gonna compel the sort of gamer who is considering a freaking $1600 video card.

“$200 cheaper than 4080 and beats it in many scenarios” now that is a much better position to be in.

It's going to be very interesting to see what these prices do to the used videocard market and Nvidia being able to dump Ampere stock. Who's going to but $1000 3090's or 3090 Ti's now?

let's not jump to conclusions with its RT performance, it's not really poo poo here, it is a definite improvement. As I predicted, they hit the sweet spot and addressed video encoding issues, among many other things holding it back. The 7900XT should be $799, i see no reason to buy that lower tier card unless if it's that price or lower.

I think I am relieved and satisfied, and slightly exceeded my expectations. I think running real world benchmarks, it is going to be 85%-95% close to performance with higher tier RX40 series.

They will definitely release more hardware refreshes of RDNA 3 next year which will further drive the price down of RDNA 2 cards, and 7900 series.

Well it seems nVidia is performance king again, specially in RT, but at least AMD will hold the efficiency (and price) crown.

I am not sure how powerful this card is. they were talking about how they locked the 600 frames at 2k in overwatch 2..... but the 4090 is doing that at 4k... Not saying the 4090 is twice as powerful or even close. but these numbers are strange. He kept mentioning how this game X game runs at 90 frames 4k....with dlss 2 ? when again couple of them reach that frame with 4090 native almost.

Need more details. but the price though ??? I feel like i got punched in my stomach with the 4090 FE I just bought ( and here I thought I am happy I paid msrp price for once in my life for a card I really want.

If this card sets between 4080 and 4090? then yeah I have been scammed lol.

Edit: upon checking hardware unboxed... getting the hint its less than 4080 16gb.. ok i am not very mad about my 4090 purchase lol

Ouch :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Compare that 12gb model to the 20GB 7900 XT for the same price
