The new year is right around the corner, and many gamers are eagerly awaiting what’s to come in 2023. If a long-time Konami producer is to be believed, 2023 will have a lot.

Noriaki Okamura, a producer for the Metal Gear Solid franchise, said in an interview with Famitsu that next year is one that has been “long-awaited”. On top of that, he claimed that “2023 will be a year of many announcements”.

Without giving any specifics, when Okamura says 2023 will have a number of announcements, it should be believed that he’s speaking solely in the case of Konami. If that is the case, it opens up a number of possibilities for the publisher. It’s been a while since fans have heard anything about Metal Gear Solid. With rumblings of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake continuing to make the rounds, that’s one thing to keep an eye on in the new year.

Other reports claim Konami is set to bring back both the Castlevania and Silent Hill franchises. If 2023 truly is a “long-awaited” year, then fans might be getting far more than just one or two game revivals.

From a sports standpoint, Konami could be making major changes to its soccer franchise eFootball after a poor reception. A new trademark was filed recently for “Winning Eleven”, which was the series’ name in North America and Japan before taking on the Pro Evolution Soccer name globally in 2007.

Something tells me that Kojima left Konami almost broken with his projects or so, because they're trying to come back to gaming slowly as if they haven't been able to make a long due full comeback

Why don’t you just take a gander at any of their financial presentations? It wasn’t Kohima, they just overemphasized on pachinko and other stuff. They’re not pivoting back

I'm just speculating given rumors and statements from both parts, anyway I want then back into gaming even if just making re-releases

I wish, that Efootball is a fucking disgrace.
So true, every time I try it again - after an update - I go through a mourning for Winning Eleven all over again.

How on earth can they take the definitive footy sim and make a superior copy of the competitions offering and leave PES customers unhappy and still fail to attract the other games customers?

A simple season update file for 2023 (a reskin of PES 2021 Update) would be a major announcement for gaming in my book.

Start with re-releasing the Rebirth games on modern systems. Wii eShop exclusive pixel art Gradius, Castlevania & Contra.
I'm also expecting them to release games from indie partners, like stuff we saw in the recent Konami competition where Takumi Naramura (La Mulana) won with his 'The Maze of Galious' pitch. They should court western indie devs too and hand out funding and licenses.
They could spit out a MGS too I guess, idk, don't care.

Honestly, I'd love to see Konami IPs done by studios that will do them justice. Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear/Solid, and more.

We can only hope that is what will happen. But man, it's hard to not associate the Konami name with something lukewarm or worse. Only time will tell, I guess.

I'm happy that Silent Hill is coming back, but please DO NOT make these games utter dog poop, janky, and glitch riddled. :(

I hate it when companies use an IP so beloved, they think they'll be able to toss us loyal dogs some rubbery, tasteless meat, expecting us to sit there and accept it anyway.

You know it can happen. And again with these annoying typos. :D

OP stop taking shit out of context. The full quote is as follows:

"Konam isays 2023 will be a year with big announcements, and promises they will all be disappointing. Please understand."

The HD remasters of Suikoden‎ 1/2 were unexpected. Hopefully it does well and a new sequel will be made.
I honestly think Konami have had easily some of the best collections when it comes to their retro titles coming back, I'm really enjoying their come back.

I'll preorder the retail version of the Suikoden remasters when they go up 💪
