I am playing it now dude. Game is solid. They look like different studio.
Dude.....why is this going over your head. I have the game as well. The game is solid. It is shocking/a surprise for a development studio with no prior experience of delivering a game of this size and have it be good.

Going from the bowels of the Ishimura to the wings of Hogwarts has been an amazing transition this year. Two legendary videogame worlds, up there with the likes of Rapture, Night City, San Andreas, Raccoon City, Midgar, etc. Feels good to just walk around and soak everything in.
I’m simultaneously playing Ragnarok, Hi-Fi Rush, Dead Space, and Hogwarts.

I didn’t think this one through.

I had the same feelings too.
I am glad I was wrong.
Gonna have a long time with this game.

Damn, I though Hogwart's was nice, but the outside world is incredible. I want an MMO of this game!

Anyway, after playing this game Playground has their work cut out for them. This game feels an awful lot like a next gen Fable.

There is a little side door in the front of Hogwarts. You see the students using it a lot.
I explored the front of Hogwarts and did not find any dungeon entrances. There is a small sister village to Hogsmead up north. There are some side quests there.
I activated the fast travel to the forbidden forest, but I did not go in.
I was trying to find ingredients for the healing potion. The game seems to be pretty stingy on treasure.

True, it seems out of nowhere, but do realize that they didn't necessarily make all those games because they wanted to, but because they were paid to do a job. Then finally after being a work for hire doing shitty movie games forever they are handed something most of them really enjoy working on. It's not as surprising as you might think.

Know that there's a lot of passionate, talented people in creative industries that are just coasting by, their true abilities suppressed, kept from what they want to really do, funneled into projects that don't challenge them, just because they gotta pay the bills.

It really feels like most of the students are not going to class.
Also that passage of time is weird. You can essentially go for days without going to class. I have already done it.
It is all quest line based. So, you can just run off and no one cares. There is no real time schedule.

Do the quest to collect 6 Gobstones. Return to the quest giver and choose to keep the stones. You'll walk away happy.

The funny thing about the Wizarding World is that you got hostile stuff right next to the school. Apparently, it was worse in the 1800s. They just let the kids walk all over the place.
Just outside of the school, there are poachers that will shoot you on sight.

I notice on the map that there are some witch and wizard tombs to explore. Also, there is a tomb in Hogsmead graveyard that has a suspicious gate on it.

Been playing all day. Best game I played since Star Wars Galaxies. When I doubt myself and think okay maybe its not that good and I am just enjoying it, its gets deeper with content and surprises me and I think ya this game is amazing.

I love it when you catch the flying pages. That is really satisfying. You can snipe them from far away.

There is also some lore that the floorplan to Hogwarts constantly changes. So, it is like a living building.

The talking floo flame holders are great. They make some funny comments. One made a comment that she saw I was off adventuring.

I spend more time trying to find more pages than I do on questing. I am wasting a lot of time exploring and not progressing. Every one else is going to be discussing the end game while I am still going to be in the first half, I just know it.

Question, since you can choose to link your account to your pottermore account to get the house and wand already assigned to you from there, does doing so omit the sorting hat ceremony?

I still got the cutscene and was allowed to choose my house. But when I went to Ollivander's it already knew my wand from the Pottermore / Wizarding World account.

I figured out how to do the bug frame puzzles. Pretty neat.
The number doors baffle me. I have no idea what to do.

The game really uses the haptic feedback and the speakers in the PS5 controller. You will see what I am talking about.
The music room and the honking flowers.

If you are playing it on a PC. I would recommend using a PS5 controller. Especially for the controller speaker effects.

I guess you get different house friends depending on what house you pick. There seems to be relationship quests.
I went to Hogsmead with Natty.

The game does this cool effect to let you know a sentient enemy has spotted you. It actually makes you panic.

how do u get them to activate?

  1. Chicken Little: Ace in Action
  2. Meet the Robinsons
  3. Hannah Montana: Spotlight World tour
  4. Bolt
  5. Toy Story 3
  6. Cars 2
  7. Disney Infinity
  8. Disney Infinity 2
  9. Disney Infinity 3
  10. Cars 3
Imagine a development studio having a resume of the above games. To be then asked to delivery an open world Harry Potter game.
It's bizarre but it looks like they proved everyone wrong. I'm a huge HP fan and even I was concerned. I mean there was no way I wasn't gonna buy it but that list of games didn't exactly fill me with confidence.

It's reviewing well and I've not seen a lot of negative impressions. Most people seem to be impressed with it and are having fun.

As someone who is sympathetic to being compassionate and supporting trans rights, it’s sad to see the brigading and lies about the game reviews being bought and the game being a piece of shit, because it’s absolutely excellent. Blown away by how much they nail the atmosphere and gameplay, and the game feels excellent at 30fps quality on ps5

Great game. Bummer civil discussion about it is impossible.
Seems like discussion is happening here just fine! Just don't spend time in the places that want to ban discussion. The gatekeepers only have power if you let them

This game just pushes my gamer buttons. It's beautiful to look at, and I love exploring, so Hogwart's itself has just been amazing to search through. And it's huge, you can easily get lost or follow a trail that leads you far away from where you are supposed to go.

I've really been taking my time and soaking it in. I did one side quest that was less a fetch quest and more a "find this location and solve the puzzle " type. I found a bunch of hidden pages, some chests, few pieces of gear, etc. I haven't left the castle yet...lol.

Like I said before, I'm oblivious to most HP stuff. I mean, I know the main characters from the movie and such, but I've never messed with the IP at all. I imagine if you've grown up with this stuff or have any affinity for the franchise that this game is a dream come true, because even as an outsider it's super impressive.
What platform?
I also only watched first 2 movies + fragments whatever was on tv 20 years ago. So I know the basics but I am not a fan and I forgot everything.
Thinking if I should rewatch first few movies maybe?

Anyway. I watched gf reviews and they said that the game is a slog in hogwarts and Bette r outside but they had mixed feelings. I don’t know if I trust their opinion since they streamed and were not very focused on the game

So i played about 12 hours today and was kinda shocked when the game opened up…..it seemed big when i started and now it seems massive.

If you are a fan of the Harry potter world and RPGs….i dont see how you can go wrong with this.

Exceeded all expectations.

I find the dueling to be pretty tricky. I don't think I am targeting right. You have to use different spells to break different color shields. It is very gamey.

That’s crazy “a slog”? Hogwarts is amazing in it

I lost my second round the first time. It kept targeting the wrong person, like instead of shooting the girl in front of me, my character would make hard turns left or right and fire off screen. I found keeping the enemies all in front of you helps, but also kind of killed the immersion of the combat.

Not bad, but definitely could use some tuning.

Early in the game
The game does this thing where it suddenly shows shoulder button icons on items. Turns out your ancient magic abilities let you throw stuff and blow stuff up.
