Preach.
Infinitely better reticle as well.
The second Remake was the wet dream incarnated of 90's survival horror fans though.
Flaws or not (it had many), it got the very best gore ever in a game, the very best zombies ever in any media which were, at least in games, actually scary for the first time in decades.
Game structure, first portion especially, was addicting and immaculate and playing it the very first run at Hardcore brought me right back to my room as a kid playing the OG.
Brilliant experience, a great and super replayable game, with insane graphics and fluid and responsive controls (I suggest to play without reticle though).
He’s turned down the audio for some reason. He’s a lying little shit.I haven't played both, so just going by this video the original has better atmosphere.
It's funny, I never really took to the soundtrack of 4 like I did 2 (and to a lesser extent 3), but when I enabled OG BGM/SFX for my second 4R playthrough it felt right, and the OG soundtrack fits in 4R far better than it does in 2.One thing. Music does suck and does not stand out in remake. And in previous remakes too. They need to be bolder with it.
And what does that have to do with the comparison between the original and remake?
In the OT, saying how I preferred the OG to the remake. In the preview threads saying how much better the old VAs and their design was. The point is I was there.Love how absolutely NOBODY on this forum mentioned anything similar, yet when Crowbcat releases a video all of a sudden....."Ah yeah i think the same, it really is a cheap remake bla bra". Where were you when everyone was singing praises and couldnt decide wether to give the game a 9 or 10/10?
Always the same thing, people get blinded by the hype, then praise the game at all costs to validate their purchase.
More seriously, here are a couple of in-depth videos that explain why gameplay wise the game is inferior to the original:
Great comparison except for the fact that REmake is infact superior to the original in every way.
Wrong:
The main cast definitely look good, the villain changes are questionable though. Salazar looks like an old lady.
I agree because his normie audience is throwing tantrums on Twitter and in the comments because he said their 2023 modern remake is worse in some aspects to the a 2005 game.Crowbcat is shit, he appeals to casual normie gamers you see on Youtube, the type that loses their shit over GTA. I'd avoid, also extremely lazy youtuber.
Thank you for the throwback to 2015How dare you assume Salazar's gender?
I said the same. OG still takes the title. 4R does a number of things better (Ashley being the most glowing example) but it isn't the same experience for me. Once the novelty wears off, it's an imitation that isn't a failure but it certainly falls short. In the OT, saying how I preferred the OG to the remake. In the preview threads saying how much better the old VAs and their design was. The point is I was there.
This however doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the remake. It’s my goty.
This video has become the most downvoted Crowbcat'S video for the channel's history, currently 28k likes v.s 18k dislikes, around 55%/45% ratio.
Most polarized video Crowbcat has produced. Even Gmanlive called out him for lowering remake clips's volume to fake his argument
I was looking forward to the remake after the first trailer but the second showing with more gameplay also made me second guess it. Just felt off and after playing the demo,I could confirm it just didn't feel right atmosphere wise or gameplay wise. I accidently beat the entire village section with just the knife.I said that here after beat the game. The atmosphere on the remake is WRONG, people "booed" me.
The real experience is the Original RE4, and still plays great imo.

To be honest I'm going to guess you also prefer kiwami to the original yakuza games so I'm also gonna assume you prefer somewhat inferior remakes on average.I'm not watching it because i don't want to spoil how they recreate areas in the late game.
...The remake is that good.
I think it's too late in the thread to go for this kind of strawman99% of the time "soulless" = "I'm older than I used to be" when it comes to video games.

I,ve never heard of him and I don’t see how that invalidates the clip he postedThe irony of gman calling another youtuber out for being disingenuous when he has done for years. He brought up issues with dishonored 2 that didn't even exist and you could tell by the confused comments when in reality he was just being harsh becaue Bethesda didn't give him a review copy.
Exactly! I love broody, thick atmospheres and serious content for serious people like me. The original is the manufactured Marvel slop of video games, whilst the remake is more comparable to a truly great and intelligent movie for adults, like Batman v Superman. The original is looney toons in comparison to the broody thick atmosphere of the remake

I guess the vibes for people that played the original when it come out in GameCube will stay unmatched. RE4Remake is very good, but when the original come out was something never seen before in the gaming landscape, impossibile to replicate today.
Get reflective and realise you're accusing nostalgia of taking over while talking from your own imagination. To try and invalidate criticism based with experience of your own is ridiculousWow! I'm amazed by the love the original still has and people preferring it over the new one.
I have yet to play the RE4 remake, but from what I have seen it blows the OG outta the water on so many levels.
I played and loved the OG, but it cannot be a better game than the remake.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Don't be a titAs I said, from what I have seen of the remake and my own experience of playing the original many times over.
The only point everyone can agree on is the the new remake technically blows the old one out of the water....or that is debatable as well?
There is a holy trinity of RE4, Yakuza, and MGS3 in this world. 3 games that are otherworldly in how I went from suspicious to absolutely hooked, and to fist pumps by the end. Bizarrely I avoid playing them, but with Yakuza you get a new one every year and its pretty much like going back.To be honest I'm going to guess you also prefer kiwami to the original yakuza games so I'm also gonna assume you prefer somewhat inferior remakes on average.

lmao, try watching the video on mute then. I'm sure that would make no difference showcasing the "lack of soul" in the remakeThat doesn't make any sense. All that graph does is show that the footage from the remake is quieter. How does that prove he artificially lowered the volume? Could it not just be that, you know, the game is quieter? Maybe the default audio settings are quieter?
Regardless, even if you turn the volume up, it's not like it makes a difference. In the video gman posted with adjusted audio levels, the ambient sound is still much quieter/doesn't have as much presence as the original. Like the part outside the church, you can barely hear anything outside the music. Now personally, in regards to audio, I think it comes down to preference. The remake is clearly going for a more 3D/spatial sound, which some people might like more.
In any case, why is there so much focus on the stupid audio levels? The majority of the video showcases changes in cutscenes etc...

Yeah, you often see reactions/comments that sound extremely negative for the hell of it on the internet these days. It only feels like it's gotten worse as time has gone on, unfortunately. Sometimes it may be warranted, but it's still so very exhausting in the long run.In GAF's old days when a GOTY contender dropped, everybody was celebrating. Nowadays not just here but everywhere, it's all about how the newest popular game sucks.
Tears of the Kingdom will suck. FFXVI will suck. Diablo IV will suck. Everything sucks. No fun allowed! Because we are edgy and really need Youtube views.
