Looked impressive. Just the sheer exploration and sight seeing aspect is very appealing.
As is the core Event Horizon-like space mystery which seems to be the backbone of the plot.

But, for me, one major miss - is in the showing of the combat - there looked to be absolutely zero challenge.
The player never took damage in the entire presentation. Just ran thru everything like nothing.
Showing at least some aspect of difficulty would have went a long way - otherwise all the upgrading and weapon crafting seems for nothing.

Looks good but something is a little off. Todd said it himself at the start - When you land, you search that area around it. You don't get to land anywhere on a planet it seems. There are distinct areas per planet which move the story forward presumably. It's still got potential as it looks as though it's Elite with narrative elements.
No you can land anywhere on the planets, watch the first deep dive.
They were just saying when you land on a planet, the game builds an area around the player, and inhabitits it with stuff to see, stuff to explore, etc.

Just upgrade your GPU on your PC it doesn't need to be super expensive to outperform the X.
I plan on upgrading my PC for this but I think I'll be playing this on the console first barring game breaking bugs. PC parts prices are just ridiculous at this time. I think I'll wait a little while longer either for the next gen gpus or price drops. I think it works out so there will be enough interesting mods and bug fixes when I do so.

Definitely some shady shit in the Bethesda store for the Constellation Edition. Got numerous errors about country of origin shipping even though I'm in the US. Payment plan through Paypal went through but I see nothing in my Bethesda orders. They charged me twice

Oh my. That looks unbelievable. I hope it's not overly buggy on release (probably is) but I really need to get that.

All you pathetic SOB's who can't handle 30fps. Man you guys deserve nothing.

Ok I'll bite...

30fps in a game like this is an horrible experience especially on an OLED.

I'll accept it and adjust to it over time and so will many others but it's a jarring experience that takes a while to adjust to for a lot of people, We're not bitches for wanting or expecting pretty basic performance targets for 2023 on custom 10-12tf Zen2 CPU machines.

I don’t even own consoles but for all we know they have a VRR mode >40 fps. We don’t know.

I still have doubts about certain aspects of this game and they basically soft-confirmed no 60 FPS support (if it were there, why not show it in the Direct?).

However, some of my other concerns were done away with, and I'm really liking the depth of the ship customization (for both interior & exterior), the space flight fights (among some of the best parts of what was shown), more options in how missions can progress, planet exploration among diverse biomes and wildlife, etc. The gunplay also looks better vs. the 2022 footage.

I don't think it's going to be the cultural movement Skyrim was in its day, but it doesn't have to be. The game looks fun, looks like it has scale and depth, and (mostly) has the exploration elements present. And there isn't another open-world space-themed WRPG coming anytime soon, so Starfield has a benefit there as well.

It looks like it'll be the start of (hopefully) genuinely great 1P AAA games from Microsoft going forward. The question is if they can maintain that consistency in quality (if not get better) and release cadence. Both are things Xbox has struggled with a lot over the past several years, time will tell if they're finally going to break out of it.

Looks really good. One of the few big AAA so far, if not the only one, that looks next-gen. Wish I had an Xbox or PC to play it.

You can also stream it on your Xbox One via xCloud (most likely), or on your smartphone or tablet. FWIW.

You can smell the passion and attention to details of Devs : I'm in 100%, the Show was beautiful, the graphics, atmosphere, gameplay, art design, the freedom we will have in playing it. WOW.

What I can "handle" versus what I choose which is objectively a much better experience are two different things. If I for some reason HAD to play it on consoles sure I'd suffer through it and play @ 30fps. But once you play games at a higher fps where it truly matters like in a game such as Starfield it's a really tough pill to swallow going back to 30fps, it simply feels terrible. But playing Starfield @ 120fps with max settings is not achievable for $500 so that's where people have to decide how important it is.

I honestly thought it would look much better than what was shown which is serviceable given the scope, but like TOTK it's not solely the visuals that are going to make this game great (yet; mods will re-invent this game visually many times over in the course of its life) but the sheer amount of content at hand.

It looked great but will they have alien life? I get it exploration is great but the worlds seemed pretty empty and something like a citadel would be amazing with this engine.

I dont think there are alien races in the game, there are alien wildlife and monsters and stuff.
The whole plot of the game seems to be finding pieces of a alien artifact that together creates like a stargate, which at the end of the game you go through and i assume meat an alien race.
I'm sure if there is a Starfield 2, there will probably be alien races in the game.

I will play it on xbsx and my pc, thanks to saves syncing etc. will be playing on platform that I feel i want to at that specific moment. Got monster pc so will go max settings with 60+ fps and when I want to go big screen I will just jump to xbsx. I am not bothered with 30 fps at all. Bethesda games don’t need to be 60 fps. It is mostly exploration for me that always Get me in their games. Full immersion with the worlds they build.

Too big honestly. Why do they feel games need to be this huge? Could've made 5 normal games in this size.
This is intimidating and scary to start playing a game this huge. I think it's size is t it's detriment
There are plenty of games smaller in scope, space games even. Many want space games to feel as expansive as our universe, this is who Starfield is for. You are 100% allowed to not like it, but its' size shouldn't be used as a point of criticism as that's the whole point.

I was pissed when it didn't show up immediately after the Showcase.

I kept turning my Xbox on & off to "refresh" it 😄

Normally i'd agree but Zelda plays just fine on my C2, which surprised me as my experience with 30fps on this TV has be fucking awful in general.

However ill be playing on PC, so 2 fucks not given.

That "hundreds of planets" is scary. I don't want to play in empty environments.
I agree, we can only hope that the procedural aspect of the planets are up to the challenge of making each planet interesting. As this specific point was addressed directly during the showcase, I would like to believe that it is indeed going to be the case. As always, time will tell.
