Best way to announce; PlayStation controller icons dance and swirl around the screen in a kaleidoscope of colors, climactic music rises to a crescendo as they zoom in on one of the four shapes we all know and love.

The Snitch has liked a reply to him in which a user suggested that he was referring to PlayStation and Square Enix, so I guess that's what The Snitch is teasing.

The stock markets have been closed since Friday, so this Monday (tomorrow or today depending on where you may live) we should find out if there's any truth to this tease.

Time to buy Square Enix stocks.

Nothing says that in the tweet, but what difference would Sony buying Square really make currently?

Xbox isn't getting any Square Enix games anyway, so essentially they're just re-confirming exclusivity for games they're already expected to have exclusive rights to?

Xbox isn't getting a mainline Final Fantasy in the next 10 years, regardless of whether Sony buys Square or not.

What's with that title lol. Where is he saying that PS has bought SE? If it was PxSE then maybe you'd have something there lol.

It keeps Ms from buying them, and reduces the chances to zero.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if this has been done for awhile and they were just waiting for the Activision deal to resolve.

Isn't there already massive issues with western companies attempting to buy Japanese publishers though?

Admittedly it has happened in other industries with car companies.

It also means they get a bigger share of every Square Enix game sold. (Up to 100% if it's though the Playstation store).

Doesn't the Snitch just have access to pre-loaded YT videos, which is why he's able to leak game announcements? How would he be able to leak acquisitions, especially when S-E is a publicly-traded company in Japan? That's insider trading territory.

It would be tougher, but maybe since they are smaller. Still takes it off the table.

SE acquisition don’t make much sense if you put in perspective to the strategy that Sony has followed. If they go for acquiring something it will be for a GaaS/MP experienced studio.

Sony already gets all of these games exclusive? I’m sure this will be accepted pretty easily by regulators but the difference between buying the company and buying third party exclusives is those don’t bring the regulators to your door. They probably can’t buy anything else now since they are first place and this probably opens up Microsoft being able to get Sega with almost 0 push back.

Seems pointless tbh
