Of course, I agree with you. It should of been done when the 360 was doing well to prepare for the Xbox One generation. I never liked the bulk of their studios being singular IP factories.
They did invest in their studios... Look at how much money 343 spent on Halo Infinite... which obviously didn't work. They might have over corrected but they had a lack of studios prior to their 2018 buying spree.

They could of invested in a set up where, before the 2018 spree, the studios they did have at the time could of produced more than one IP. They could of planned this before Xbox One launched and had a more solid portfolio of games and potential new franchises before the need to buy all those studios.

Problem is, they barely had any to invest in. That cunt Mattrick started closing studios at the end of the 360 generation when they should have been investing in new ones. I don't see how anyone expects MS to be competitive without significantly growing their 1st party.
Lmao still blaming Mattrick.

I mean it’s like Phil didn’t have the resources to expand or invest in their studios no no, it’s all Mattricks fault a decade later…..

Same old same old song being played by the green camp. No Wonder why xbox is in the state it’s in. Lagging behind Xbone and shit.

That was a decade ago, man. And Phil closed even more studios after taking charge. That's not Mattrick's fault.

So in a few years after patches and mods, GAF will have weekly threads about how awesome Starfield is. I find it funny how suddenly Cyberpunk, a game "everyone" hated, is suddenly great and worth your time. How many said they would never trust CD Project, now saying they are the example others should follow. I am capable of enjoying a 7 or 8 of 10 game. I trust patches and mods will greatly improve the game. I went in knowing this, the same as all previous Bethesda games. I am surprised so many had completely different expectations. I suspect much of it is mob mentality. It is cool to hate on it now. When the game "redeems" itself, it will be cool to love it. Sheeple.

Cyberpunk was trashed because of performance and bugs, being unplayable on last gen consoles. People on the PC side seemed to love the actual game.

Understand the difference? Cyberpunk’s problem wasn’t dated design, piss poor writing, awful animation and character models, or being boring.

Some of you are holding on to whatever you can, but the grasp isn’t there.

I mean, you can disagree, but that's the the great thing about opinions. Around here, I saw much more hype for Starfield, especially after release. Of course, its exclusive status was the reason why, but that makes all the difference. I never saw anyone defending Cyberpunk's shortcomings like I do for Starfield, for example.
I like it when people say this like they purposely ignore how prelaunch Starfield they did all sort of hype videos like for example the random interview of public people on new jersey on how hype they are about Starfield launching and all this so called "random general public people" telling how hype they are and its the best thing ever no one shouldnt missed it etc.

Its cute seeing people still saying Starfield wasnt hyped like the 2nd coming of gaming or something.

And im not saying cyberpunk wasnt hype, that turd was hyped as fuck also with all those Keanu Reeve meme and all.

That's the nature of space games. People get hyped by themselves. Bethesda only did a showcase few months before release. All stuff they showed there is in the game. All the sights, planet hopping experience, beauty of a desolate planet... is present and correct in the game.

Happened with No Man's Sky as well. Only difference is, Starfield offers a robust experience on release. You can play for 150-200 hrs before you run out of content.

Thoughts.

I’ve been enjoying Starwoke so far apart from all the loading. It’s relentless. The combat is good though the enemy AI is practically nonexistent. I adore the setting and the game does convey an admirable sense of wonder when setting off a cross the stars. Visuals are good, sometimes great thought the low frame-rate is a problem in faster paced scenes. Not to obsess but the game, at times, plays like a struggle session. A constant barrage of Karens complaining and using me as an emotional dumping ground. So much so I have started unintentionally tuning them out. Not to bash anyone over the head but the old ‘diversity and inclusion’ initiative really was in full swing with this one. There was actually a point during play when I counted 13 female contacts in a row across multiple missions. You know, go talk to this person… woman, go help that person... woman, go kill some other person… woman, it was noticeable and had me feeling like I was drowning in estrogen. The menus are somewhat poorly implemented. They seem fine at first but become rather tedious to navigate the more hours you spend in the game. Being overburdened in this game is pretty much a default state. It restricts fast travel and ends up being more of an annoyance than an interesting mechanism.

In summary, playimg this game is like being in a dysfunctional relationship; you know it isn’t working, you know it won’t last, but you feel somewhat obligated to see things through… if only not to squander the time you have already invested.

Why do you notice stuff like this when they are women, but not if they were all dudes?

For every 1/10 deeeerp worst game because reasons there is a 10/10 deeeerp best gamer ever because reasons ... this shit balances itself out in the end... its the same for every middle ground game.

People really expected a game using assets and an engine old as fuck, ideas already used in other games and shitty gen z writting to be a unanimously 10/10???
Bro.....you sound hurt. Holy shit!

I haven't been following this game at all. I'm glad I decided to wait until after Spider-Man 2 and Mario Wonder. May as well wait for the inevitable "We Fixed Most Issues and Also Here's All of the DLC Edition" for $30 on a Steam sale.

I'm gonna be honest:
This is a categorical disaster.

Why is it a disaster?:
For multiple reasons, but I have seen the same criticism (even from people who love the game).

If one aspect of a video game as art/entertainment is to offer escapism through some fantasy is selling, and your game's fantasy is basically undermined by your lackluster technology.....Huston, we have a problem.

Starfield gets a massive hit in the nuts when is trying to sell space exploration with unparalleled freedom and what you get instead is 16x The Loading Screens

the last bit should tell Xbox and Bethesda that they simply can't continue using that engine or set of "tools".  The industry has left the "Bethesda Magic" in the past and now, as a first party studio for Xbox; expectations are going get even bigger.

They are fucked, because it doesn't matter what decision they make NOW, their next game is not going to meet the expectations people want and the xbox brand needs.

Brand new engine from scratch, Switch to Unreal  or keep updating this old shit.

each decision has its pros and cons but at the rate game dev is taking....we are taking about 12 years until we see a meaningful and substantial improvement in Bethesda tech. that's fucking scary.

Bethesda will never switch engine. Poof goes the mod scene, Which is a major reason why their games live forever. The engine is fine. Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be massive.
