Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League |OT| Sent to Die

Tbh I don't think they've even played the game and literally just assuming its bad because "GaaS/Live Service = Bad" and made up their mind on it, that pisses me off more as its not even giving something a chance at all, if you don't like it thats fine of course but badmouthing it or other people that may enjoy it is even worse
Oh of course, that's exactly what it is. Couldn't agree more. I'm by no means a "GaaS" defender or anything, I'm also not a defender of any game, including this one. People just enjoy what they enjoy, whether others don't, etc. That's really it.

Watching the Gmanlives video and to be honest the whole thing looks like some sort of epilepsy simulator.

That. . .is an absolutely fair assessment of combat in this. I can see someone thinking it is tonally opposed to the narrative, but I for one like it. It's a complaint I had with Midnight Sun's: the game took itself entirely TOO seriously, and didn't bother leaning on its comic book roots. The "combo-effect" explosions (along with the actual diegetic explosions) are just. . .fun and definitely add to the chaos of combat (I'm not sure if they go off for your other party members; now I want to fire the game up to see).

About two hours in and loving it so far. The gameplay is solid and the graphics are gorgeous on my Series X. Reminds me of a much better version of Sunset Overdrive.

Escaping the 'Baman experience' was hilarous.
Uff i loved Sunset Overdrive. So i have to check it out now.

I can't remember the last game I played where the seizure and epilepsy warning felt beyond fitting. The faster you play the more intense the visuals get. So yeah, that's pretty fitting actually.
So this is on "sale" at eneba for 39 bucks with tax. Hmm..
It's only going to drop more and more because of all the publicity. You bite if and when you feel it works for you. But the longer you wait the cheaper it gets, as well as the more content it receives.

I never checked it out, and I really should after all the hooplah. For me, it's definitely scratching Crackdown itches. Which may be why I've enjoyed it at all. I haven't touched a game that feels like this or similar since Crackdown 2, I believe?

I really wish I wrote reviews or something...there's a lot about this game that just screams it's gonna be bad to me, yet I have a morbid curiosity to play it for myself and see what I think. Maybe it's because it's so divisive, that I need to get my hands on it to really know. This happens to me a lot, that I have zero interest in a game prior to release, but then it's so polarizing that I end up giving a game a shot, and sometimes I end up liking it, or thinking it's not that bad, or that it really is that bad (like Saints Row reboot)

If you have only a passing interest, I would wait to see what the actual live-service offering looks like. Right now it is all "foundation" (think Diablo 4 before the first Season) which sadly is the nature of GaaS games (well most of them at least; definitely TD2 and D4 from what I remember of launch).

I’m going to enjoy this game. It will scratch the Destiny 2 itch, at least for a few weeks.

Best way to describe it is that it’s like one Destiny 2 planet, with four or five public event style missions. You pretty much grind those out continuously. A few solo style pve missions thrown in, but it’s more like an MMO than single player title.

Gunplay and adaptive triggers are great on PS5. Pretty much a solid 60fps. Traversal makes the game.

Loot is average at best. They will have to do a *lot* of work in that regard, to keep players interested. At the moment, it’s only a foundation. Game needs way more, in terms of dungeons, raids, pvp etc.

But it absolutely has the ability to get its hooks into you. And it’s a fuck of a lot more enjoyable than Diablo.

Also, the one thing I *hate* is how they slow your character at the end of each mission and you have to listen to 30 seconds exposition.

Let us get back into the game immediately.

I don't post here much anymore, but in the time I've been participating in this thread, you've literally done nothing but moan about the game and indirectly continue to insult the intelligence, motivation or purchasing habits of folks actually playing this game - in this thread no less - who have given measured responses as to why the game isn't "The Worst Thing Ever" all in giant (repetitive at this point) missives.

. . .so yeah, "Triggered Emoji" is on the menu.
Far better to just enjoy the game while others are getting blue in the face. After I finish up the Story mode in Granblue I'm gonna be swapping between the 2 games every other day. Both games are fun as hell. In similiar fashion both games story mode really just serves as a prologue to the bread and butter of the core gameplay.

So many fun things you can do with the mobility options of each character. In some ways I'm reminded of Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Especially with King Shark. Boomerang is probably the most fun character. But so is swinging around mobs and shooting fish in a barrel with Harley Quinn.

While others are crying up a storm harboring resentment because "Rocksteady" betrayed them I'll be having a fun Looter Shooter TPS to play and the nuance of combat fits rather well. The game has it's faults sure but the good outweighs the bad here and there is always room for improvement during their roadmap with seasons.

I've played live service games, gachas and MMOs and this game isn't that bad. It plays out how I would expect a what if story in a comic book series. I'm not concerned. If the game plays it's cards right and really only limits cash shop stuff to cosmetics you potentially have another DRG kind of GaaS model.

Players have the right to like or dislike a game on it's own merits and when you stoop to insulting other people then you only prove you have no argument. It only serves to staunch discussion and no one can have a healthy conversation when you do that. Some people like Pizza and other people like Potatoes and some people hate both. And that's perfectly ok. This isn't a Warhammer 40k warzone where the Imperium is out to get you for heresy just because you disagree with someone.

Interestingly, GBFR has kind of left me a bit "cold" - the combat is definitely the star there, but I just can't with the wildly anime nature of everything else (honestly, it's Vyrn's English voice-actor and direction I can't do). There's also the fact that this is now THREE RPG's (IW, GBFR and now P3R) that I've got and it's just a bit much. Somethings gotta give. It having a "short" story is probably what will get me to finish it though - to get to the endgame grind.

. . .that said, SS is absolutely the "jump in for 30 minutes and blow shit up and then bounce" game for the immediate future. I'm about 50 percent through the story and very curious to see what they've got planned for Season 1 (not sure if they can realistically wait until March to debut it though). RS seems confident if nothing else that people will dig it. If we can more enemies and just more of the combat encounters, not sure how it won't keep my interest as a quick-session kind of game.

I think February-April is gonna be rough.

You got Relink, Persona 3, Infinite Wealth, soon FF7 Rebirth, then Dragon's Dogma 2.

Which isn't including other releases like Tomb Raider 1-3 Remaster and maybe Princess Peach Showtime and in April you got Stellar Blade.

Lots of big releases under very short windows.

Good time for gaming but also not enough time to play them all at launch.

I think this game is shit. I've watched all of the cutscenes on youtube. But the devil is whispering in my ear "buy it"
I'd probably just wait for it to drop in price then. There's a chance you could like it more than you'd ever expect, that seems to be the notion with a lot of people. Or, you won't at all, but at least you'd drop less money on a gamble.

The amount of bad faith toward this game is incredible. One example of the shitposting:

SQ-water-bad.jpg

The truth:

SuicideSquad_KTJL_2024_02_02_20_44_58_513.jpg
That video that has been making rounds comparing the game to the Arkham games is such click bait nonsense. It's insane. From the visuals it used, to showcasing melee in the game incorrectly, to other things. Hell, comparing melee focused games like the Arkham series to a shooting focused game alone is absurd. But rather than make the realization, the hate train just picks up more torches and pitch forks.

I'm honestly glad I gave it a shot.

Review bombing has begun. Somehow this guy was able to post a review with just 0.1 hours playtime:
jVaqtlu.png

That person clearly spent all week in preparation to post that review. Which, I gave them a Golden Unicorn because it was funny. But it's clear they bought the game clearly to post that.

. . .the problem is most of these are shitpost reviews instead of "good" negative reviews that can help RS focus on what actually doesn't work (enemy density and variety, in my opinion) and what does (the combat and overall "cool" factor of the game itself).

That's honestly the worst thing about Steam reviews. When they're honest and true, they're great. But they can also be abused and filled with stuff like this that isn't constructive whatsoever. It's not going to really help a person make a choice. But at least they can still look at the amount of positives or negatives to form a conclusion.

This is reminding me so much of Guardians of the Galaxy, a game that was also sorely overlooked, this game is NOT the Avengers, its very RPG like more than GaaS imo

Weird that the people who actually playing the game seems to like it. Its like 4.7 rating on xbox store, 4.5 on ps store and 84% on steam

It's definitely a tiny subset of gamers but they make all of us look bad with their craziness.

For a character who has been black for over 20 years at this point?
Even in that twitter thread there are people going at him for having a black deadshot. I honestly thought deadshot was either black or hispanic in most depictions, but idk.

Yea he has, he's been like that since the 90's if not older, he barely had a character before that and usually wore a mask, he's one of those rare characters that was improved upon when they changed him

Pretty sure the people proclaiming it to be the biggest disaster ever never intended to play it. The Steam rating keeps going up.

Day 1 Steam player numbers are about half that of Arkham Knights, jumbo oof.

I can’t see them sinking more money into seasonal content for this.

#5 on PSN after Fortnite, FIFA, 2K and COD. Meaning it’s the #1 new game over Persona, Granblue, and Tekken.

A lot of the content is already done, so I'm sure they're going to follow through regardless. WB has the money, and the work has already been paid for. Also, comparing this to the Arkham series isn't fair IMO. Especially the third game in a very successful series. One of the main reasons why the mobs were upset about the game is because it ISN'T an Arkham game, and it's a live service. 🤷‍♂️

I remember seeing it in the top 10 over at https://gg.deals/. It was 9 now it's 7.

That was pretty evident even all the way back during the playtests. I personally don't think it's amazing and am not buying till it's on a sale (especially with co-op being the drive here so getting friends for it is important)

But the way some people spoke about it then like it was an unplayable mess that has no redeeming qualities, much like days gone, people have had a mob mentality to hate the game and tell their friends they hate it so they can get cool guy cred 🤣. From what I had played in the playtest, the controls were snappy. The framerate was fairly consistent, the combat was decent enough for a shooter and for some characters like captain Boomerang and dead shot, traversal was a fun time and required input, not just hold forward to win.

Again I didn't buy it and I didn't think it was going to be more than a 7/10 but we definitely have some being a big ridiculously harsh considering they were never going to play the game anyway.

Why on earth would somebody buy a game that they are fairly sure they wouldn't like just to be able to rate it lowly? The angle you're looking from is flawed.

Go take a look at "The Day Before" reviews.

Yeah, exactly. I'm all for broken games that deserve to be called out, but this was never one of them. It's a decently fun romp full of mindless shooting and action. Keyword is decent. Some will like it more than others, some will dislike it more than others, etc. Standard opinionated stuff.

I just think all the attention it got and the reasons were pretty silly. If it wasn't that it's not an Arkham game, it's that it's a GaaS. If it's not that, it's because people were upset about the leaked story. (People were upset about their favorite super heroes being "killed" when the game is literally called Kill the Justice League. So many false leaks were all over the place but people still ate it up.) If it wasn't that, it was people were under the impression it was Kevin Conroy's last Batman performance and they felt it was disrespectful, etc. There was always something that just kept putting the spotlight on it, lol.

The Kevin Conroy thing is definitely the most confusing, like he's passed and his role was recorded, what do people think, that rocksteady planned on his death or something.

It's just an unfortunate tragedy and it is what it is. If anything it's respectful to him to see it through to the end for him.

Wouldn't it be more disrespectful to delete everything he did because he did pass.. I dunno that one is head scratcher for me

Yeah, really odd fans I guess. News even came out saying that it wasn't his "final" role as Batman after all. 🤷‍♂️

I'm sure he did after awhile, at least I'd hope so. It's just empty words from a bunch of lowlifes on the internet. But it's still pretty sad to know that people out there will actually do that. Whether it be for amusement or trolling, it's pretty messed up.

In my experience I never got it nearly as bad, but I did have some people say some really shitty and out of line things to me as a community manager, lmao. Wasn't prepared for that at all, just thought it was funny and wtf.
