I believe they fucked up so much not launching the game on PS5 on day one. Unless it becomes some kind of Cyberpunk redemption story (and I don't think it can, because CB was a good game with technical issues; Starfield is not a good game), it won't sell nearly as well as it could have with a day one release.

The game's reputation is fully compromised and word of mouth is terrible.
PS5 users won't be fooled into buying this game at full price unless they do a 2.0 version with a big expansion fixing the limitations of the original, basically another Cyberpunk situation but that's really unlikely to happen so it's too little too late.

Big if true. Despite the podcast Phil was on the other week, this would indicate that Xbox are throwing in the towel when it comes to Xbox platform (including windows pc) exclusives.

Xbox will turn itself into a huge publishing outlet though. Weird news for sure if true.

TBH Microsoft was better as a publisher. Their output got objectively worse and less interesting when Xbox got into the picture, this is such a good move honestly

You can get Fallout 76 for "free" that these days has a better experience than Starfiled.

It's cheaper than a month of gamepass often and doesn't require a sub for online service on PC like it does on consoles so I think that's a better call.

eh i played at launch on PC and despite some performance issues in big cities, the game is by far the most polished bethesda game ive played. No crashes, no stuttering, and an overall polished experience i typically only see in Sony first party games.

In fact, it was far more polished than most other PC ports i played last year including Hogwarts, RE4, Star Wars, Robocop, TLOU2 and Forza. Only AW2 and Avatar were more polished, and AW2 had its own performance issues in certain areas.

The game's issues are with the design and that cant be fixed. It is what it is and will remain that way until Starfield 2. PS5 gamers will play the same exact game.

I see MS fully going down this route, with a small caveat. I expect them to keep their big games as day 1 on Xbox/PC only, coming to other platforms 6-12 months down the line.

They have to keep a reason for people to want the Xbox hardware over others (if they want to stay in the hardware business that is).

Yeah, I would double dip on FH4&5 so I can play with my wheel setup for PS5. Well, I guess they kind of suck with a wheel/pedals anyways, but still.

I’m sure there would be buyers especially Bethesda fans. The only difference is it wouldn’t be the same if it was released on the same day as PC and Xbox. The Playstations buyers know exactly what they’re getting.

There’s also room for the expansions and survival mode updates to at least make the experience a bit better.

There are definitely going to be lost sales. Especially with a ton of great games releasing this year.
