Saw the thread title, instantly booted up the PS5 to search for the demo, only to have my heart broken after reading the rest of the thread.

This looks fantastic and im not just talking about her ass

Both the image quality and the performance looks really good aswell

Love that it has finishers at the end of the boss fights, always enjoyed those on classic God Of Wars, Darksiders and a few other action hack & slashers.

Thanks for the heads-up! :messenger_smirking:

Okay, in all seriousness:

For those that played the demo, it seems that the Eve is pretty vocal during battles. Does that get annoying? It seems it might do, or are you able to tune it out?

Well I wanted to play the demo but I'll settle for watching someone else play it.

The gameplay is interesting. Superficially, it's a character action style but I don't think it's that. It looks messier like a western game. That's not always bad depending on the composition of the game. This has more exploring and unlocking than I thought it would so it could be the right choice, or a good judgement of their abilities as a studio.

It is comparable to n:a that way. A real character action game needs to be on the hard side or it doesn't press the combat system and it's pointless. In nier, it's like playing Bayonetta vs goombas.

Even if 2B's moveset was really tight and balanced out, you wouldn't be able to tell because you can do so much compared to the enemies. They don't push you to find the specific move or movement you need. You just sort of do whatever you want and it will work if you are quick enough. It's drastically watered down compared to dmc. But it's fine because for the game to work, her moveset just has to look and feel cool. The more stuff she can do, the better.

Give her a busted-ass dodge button, too. Doesn't make the game worse like it would dmc. It's not that kind of game.

Most people like that game for the story, music, etc. They really don't need high difficulty stopping them in their tracks. So no point getting all into the nitty gritty designing the combat. Make it just hard enough to feel like you have to fight (I died several times in nier) and not more. Players can also stack chips to really beef up the character. I abstained from that when I realized it was a bit of a difficulty tailoring system.

So yeah I'm not seeing something that compares favorably to dmc for combat direction, but that might end up being a good fit from this video I'm watching.

Other observations.

Tachy kinda makes eve look like a dork. Seeing more of the game though, I kinda get it. Seems like it may be closer to an arpg than pure action so they start you with a humble character to power up over a longer playtime. Tachy may be made to contrast that.

Music seems appropriate. Not amazing. I like it better than a aaaa cinematic score.

The British accents are killing me.

I like her little tie.

Pretty gory with the cut off arm. Refreshing. Like some black n white manga shit.

They are leaning into the horny. I'm surprised sony picked it up. I'm not even talking about today's woke world. I do not recall them ever repping with a character that sexy. The whip chick from toshinden is the closest thing I can recall. I'm all in for some cheesecake, it's all good. I want a game that has a sex doll for a protagonist. So shoot me.

Wasn't lucky enough to get the demo in time, but GODDAMN is the music good in this. I like Nier's OST but this sounds better to me.

What I really like here, aside from the obvious, is the opening scene. I love chaotic situations in games. When things are happening all around you. They don't even necessarily have to have a gameplay impact. That sensory overload. Cool shit happening. Explosions. Crashes. Combat happening everywhere. It was one of the things that sucked me into Ghost of Tsushima. That opening battle scene was gaming nirvana to me. Games that suck me in right from the start almost always seem to be among my favorite. Of course, it could go sideways right after, but it makes me much more hopeful that I'll love it.

Who doesn't like to be sucked up?

Is the game a soulslike? I wasn’t expecting that.
Yes sort of but the combat seems more God of War like imo. But yes you rest at a spot and the enemies spawn. Not sure if there is a function where you die and lose you experience points that you would have to go back and collect though.
