They're completely optional it seems, same as the other Capcom games like RE and Monster Hunter, just there in case you wanna speed things up

Bit of a non issue and easily ignorable like the Ubisoft ones

It's funny that so much of this game was about not having the ability to fast travel, and then they put fast travel behind a micro transaction. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Even worse is that they hid it until after reviews/people bought the game, real scummy and deserves the negative message it's getting.

Gotta wonder how many of these complainers commonly throw money at their favourite Twitch or YT personality when they stream, but blow a gasket when a game has a virtual "tips jar" like these mtx?
Comparing a throttling of basic features with a "tip jar" LOL

As an older guy can't help but be dismayed by the whole angry "I must be allowed to play my game my way" mentality. It just stinks to me of a self-indulgent world-view where constraints that are intended to promote fun and challenge are instead looked upon as annoying inconveniences or worse.
If the "contraints", were really designed to promote fun and challenge, then they would not have sold workarounds to those "contraints". As an older guy you should atleast see this for what it is. Transparent manipulation of basic features to monetize an already full-priced game. This was not designed around fun and challenge, for fuck's sake.

Jesus, dude. It's a lot more than that. It's a deliberate tactic on the part of a greedy games publisher to further extort money from gamers for services that should be completely free.

I don't understand how anyone can be okay with that kind of deceptive, corrupt shit? It's not just the practical effects, it's the intent.

I now hope this fucking game bombs in every single respect.

The amount of "just ignore it" and "its completely optional" and "stop whining" comments in this thread make me think GAF is being invaded by Capcom's PR personnel.

Ethical piracy is starting to sound like an actual, believable thing, these days.

eh, not exactly.

take red orbs in dmc5
they are something you want, so there is value, but they are also infinitely farmable and in enough quantity that even though it could break the game to just spend cash and unlock immediately all the shop, there is little incentive to do that.

on DD2 while the game might have been created and balanced without considering mtx, what they sell is something that in game is extremely rare and sought for.

you might aergue that been willing to sacrifice the entire balance of your game for cash is abhorrent, it's like if souls games would sell you extra flasks for cash

..or people who have already dropped 80 bucks on this game and can't bring themselves to admit that was a bad decision. Better to defend than admit to do something dumb, like pre-ordering.
I can understand its hard. I bought a PSVR2 at launch, and i fucking hate to admit it, but that was a bad purchase decision. Money down the drain.

lmao

PSA: Don't use the 'Load from Last Inn Rest' option in Dragon's Dogma 2 unless you want to risk permanently losing progress

..what a shitshow
Sorry but did you take the time to READ the article? It's not an issue, you even get a warning stating this.

Some people...........

Also again it shows that pc players are bitches. They always whine about something.
The game is using these expensive components for something. That’s a good thing. Right?
And mtx is optional. I have 600 steam games and you think I go and cry playing games for which I have not bought every dlc ?! Get real and just ignore this or pay 2$ if you really want it.
Then they will whine that singleplayer games are dead, where is dd3 and games are too expensive at 70€

Man stop defending shit like this. It has no place in games, especially not this scummy way after launching the game and the reviews are out without mentioning this

As someone who has dropped 80 bucks on this based on early reviews.

It's fucking indefensible, Capcom has sort of done this before in Monster Hunter, where they sold the character change tickets. The difference here is this game is purposely built to be more restrictive and there just selling you the solution. It's fucking, they let you buy dust to hire better pawns... this reminds me when they sold crystals in Devil May Cry, like now I just think the game is balanced around this and not some creative vision, it sucks.

Is the MTX essential to enjoy the game? Would the game play better and be more fun without these MTXs? If no, then I fail to see the problem and understand the outrage over MTXs like these, because not buying these MTXs is virtually identical for us as if they didn't exist in the first place.

Since I don't understand the problem and outrage of this, I get the impression that the people who are deeply bothered and vocal about this are really troubled by merely the possibility, potential, or temptation of buying MTXs, by either not being able to but wanting to or some sort of annoying FOMO.

If you bought this game, you really should refund it. Send a clear message!

The release is a serious clusterfuck. Who the hell at capcom thought this price gouging/micro trash was gonna fly?

Same. Glad i instead spent my money on the excellent PC port of Horizon Forbidden West.
Spent mine on Ghost of Tsushima, waiting for that to come out while enjoying Helldivers 2 (Which costs almost literally half of Dragons Dogma 2 in some cases.)

Didn’t expect this from Capcom. Probably the scummiest thing I’ve read about gaming, and that’s saying something.

Really pissed off that I purchased this.

Would rather have double dipped on forbidden west or bought the thaumaturge along with Alone in the Dark instead. Or even Wo Long which I didn't end up getting last year.

So Capcom took what I hated about the first game - the lack of travel options - and decided to monetize fast travel knowing people would be cornered into paying for it because the game's traversal/navigation sucks ass by design. Fuck Capcom. Scumbag behaviour.

Lmao I remember that thread where people were defending the shitty fast travel then Capcom pulls this. Egg meet face.

Between this and the 30 FPS console cap, I'll wait for Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. At least that version will come with an infinite Ferry Stone. Probably still won't have 60 FPS though, which is galling when much better-looking open-world games ship with it as standard.

I swear, this industry is going to end up hating Helldivers 2. Every time some publisher tries to pull a fast one, people are going to point at HD2 and say "These guys get it, why don't you?" :D

I'd never ever consider paying myself, so their presence is absolutely irrelevant to me.

As mentioned the original game had the exact same thing - kinda wondering if they'll add the numerous fetch quests packs that the original had too- so I'm not at all concerned.

Here's the logic; design goal is to disincentivize skipping exploration (and in turn the content that exposes) by abusing fast travel. Primary constraint is to make the required item scarce and/or costly in terms of in-game currency. Which naturally can be uncharitably interpreted as incentivizing other sorts of in-game grind, so they offer a second tier workaround by offering the OPTION to buy said items for real money so as to skip grind. Which seems fair and reasonable to me.

But oh no, for the peanut-gallery they deserve to have universal access to everything (FOMO?) and so they overreact with ludicrous complaints like Pay-to-win in a pure single-player game!

It ain't that bad except for in the cities and then it is in the 30s/40s. That is typically where you are trading, getting quests, etc. Get out into the world and it gets a lot better. So I would say it is "manageable" at this point. Not good. Not bad either though.

Having said all that, it needs some obvious work. DLSS is horrible. It just makes everything blurry and has not impact on performance. Ray tracing doesn't affect performance either. The game is completely CPU limited.

Looks to me like the reason for this is all the background processing. The passage of time will cause an apple in your inventory to go rotten, for example. Or a structure that was damaged will slowly get fixed eventually. Stuff like that isn't obvious, but it is there. That's all cool that they do that, but I'm really not sure it is worth the hit to performance. Really doesn't have a huge impact on the game itself, from an enjoyment standpoint, that I can tell thus far.

Either way, I'm loving this game. Lots of fun.

From what I've seen it still drops to 30-40 in towns even if you have the best CPU and GPU money can currently buy, and even if you play at minimum settings. That's not ok. The game is clearly very unoptimized.

We had years of gamers telling publishers they need to do stuff beyond graphic stuff. Publishers never can win with gamers.
