Opinion: Xbox Should Consider Cancelling Halo: Campaign Evolved For PS5.

I would like to see Microsoft getting back to its roots with Xbox, but at this point, I think it would be a bad idea. Even during the Xbox 360 era, they sold fewer consoles than Sony. Even at their best, they still "lose." Right now, things are much worse. They would need a lot of time and money just to try to recover what they've lost. And there's still a chance that they could do everything right and the project would still fail.
Well….. they certainly have a lot of money. And time is what you do with it. Not saying they could do some sort of overnight comments k but with the right moves next gen and a 180 on this 'no exclusives' stuff they would certainly be back on the right track.

No point to make remake only for Xbox fans when there is PS5 market where you can grab at least 5 million guarantee copies sold.

Honestly, Halo on PlayStation is probably one of the most damaging things Microsoft could do to the Xbox brand. All the ABK games? Sure. Bethesda. Yes.

These?

Halo
Forza
Gears
Fable

No. If you are going to have an Xbox console then these can't be on PlayStation. You can't have it both ways.

Yup.

But without essentially restarting their entire console business from scratch, including heavy subsidization of hardware and billions lost on the next (functionally first) generation of Xbox, they cannot meet hardware and software goals at the same time.

The only way to truly revive Xbox as a platform is a decade-long project at least. And Satya "AI ME BRO" Nadella doesn't have that kind of patience.

They should honestly, it will create value for their platform but I don't think they can do it after burning $70B on Activision.

lol

As a long-time halo fanboy (even though ive gone on to say i find halo 5 and the tv series about as interesting as a durian smoothie) im HAPPY more people have a chance to play the first game through this remake.

Xbox already opened pandoras box with crossplat sales, theyd just hurt themselves further by cancelling it now.

They should.. but they wont...

Things I expect to hear from MS and Xbox this year.

- Next Gen console Canceled
- A few smaller devs outright closed.
- Rumors of them wanting to sell off some IPs and studios. ( that come true in the following years)
- They will keep COD though.
I mean, they could cancel, but why after announcing it and being on PS could breath new life into the series. I think backtracking now would be kinda bad.

I don't believe it's that simple. Strong exclusives would certainly help, but it's more than that. It involves marketing, brand building, accessibility, and so on.

But worst of all, this would be yet another radical shift that, as I said, takes a lot of time and money, all of that for it to maybe work. I honestly don't see that happening. It could happen, but I think it's unlikely.

It will sell many more copies on PS5 than it will Xbox so it makes business sense for a dying platform holder to keep games multiplatform... This IP needs a successful comeback so being on as many platforms as possible is a good thing lol

They should not cancel it and let PS5 have a decent shooter for a change. 👀
Oh yes, its a shame Playstation owners have only been limited to playing games like COD, Rainbow 6, Apex Legends, Ghost Recon, Titan Fall, Battlefield, Overwatch, Destiny, Battlefront, etc. People born after arena shooter went out of style are so missing out....

Considering how this remake already looks like garbage, Sony isn't missing out on much. If someone was interested in Halo, they've had 25 fucking years to do so. Shitting out this lazy, UE5 trash, isn't going to make Halo the massive IP it once was. Normies already have God knows how many FPS's to choose from (for free I might add), why the fuck would they settle for this inferior remake of a game older than the majority of this elusive demographic that was desperate for Halo, but never bothered playing on Xbox/PC? Gears didn't do well on PlayStation and I don't see this doing much better.

Or to save Xbox? Because without exclusives, it's dead.

I'm personally fine with that, though. So keep bringing everything to PS5.
The problem is at this point it wouldn't save Xbox. The hardware is to expensive. What it would do is just cause people to wait. Meanwhile MS would continue to eat losses and continue to not hit their 30% margin. MS as lost their patience with the Xbox division. The threw like 90 billion at it and nothing has changed.

There are so beyond that point of saving their hardware business. Even if they had absolute bangers for exclusives, it would still take multiple generations to maybe(hard maybe) turn opinion around enough for that console to be viable enough sales wise to keep those games off the competitors. Not to mention the effect Game Pass has. I wish things were different since imo having them helps keep Sony in line more, but sadly it's just too far gone.

It's Halo 1. They aren't moving hardware and by extension much software by keeping it exclusive.

Lets discuss when Halo Infinite 2 comes to PS6. Then its open to debate.

I've put Halo into the history book and moved on.
It had a good run, then a bad run, then a stupid run.
Sometimes I wish I could do that.

Unfortunately, I'm like a battered housewife who keeps telling herself that he (Halo) isn't a bad guy and that he loves me and that he's just going through stuff and I just can't leave. I just keep telling myself that maybe next time it will be better.

Halo Studios needs to make money and whatever they are doing at the moment, may likely be developing Halo for the Playstation, will be money wasted if they drop the project.

Might as well complete it, make money on Playstation because Xbox is..

Sharma is saying empty words and no one in their right mind will believe her. And people saying that Microsoft should return to gatekeeping their IP's are just funny. The whole reason why they're expanding to other platforms is because they need to sell more copies. Return to only Xbox & PC and you'll sell less, return to only Xbox consoles and that's even less.

Microsoft has been on this path for years. Making Xbox a CONSOLE people would want to buy would require a long and expensive reboot with plenty of great games to make people want to be a part of that ecosystem.

Halo's coming to PS5, that's the end of the story.

The thing I want to know is that when it arrives, will be Pro version support PSSR2 or might they just bump the res a bit and leave it at that.

Halo is not the series it was twenty years ago. It's not selling Xbox hardware today, or PS5s.

It will however have a chance of decent ish sales on other platforms but the Series consoles.

It is more likely that Playstation will have marketing rights.

And it would make sense. Xbox will cater to consoles that actually bring sales to their games. Xbox is not that platform any longer.
