You want to manually detonate Zaku's grenades in the area near your enemy rather than letting it try to hit them. You'll also have to predict where they're moving or toss in their general direction and wait until they get close. It takes a lot of practice to do that while still dodging attacks and maintaining position.

Should be R2, I think? Should be Melee and Boost. It's where he does a squat quick that looks like it does nothing. It'll detonate a grenade that's thrown.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
In before ponpo complains about melee in FB.

Made it better, I assume, since everyone has more boost.

Unfortunately, I still do not have FULL boost.

One could say that everyone now has FULL boost.

So I ended up playing more Full Boost. I was only playing Sumo at the ones near my hotel because that's the only suit I can somewhat competently play, but in when I was in Akiba in the early afternoon the arcades were completely empty so I had the chance to try some more suits. Mainly Banshee, Strike Noir and Stargazer.

Don't have much to say since I'm not super knowledgable on anything but I think I liked Strike Noir the best. I wanted to like Stargazer but the melee is really weird, especially when you have those orbs surrounding you. Banshee is cool but when they activate that more glowey mode, it interrupts whatever you're doing and I don't know if you can stop it so it's a little odd.

Didn't try much else sadly. Was really fun watching people play on those live replay / card management machines. Extreme Gundam seems really good and I saw a tonnnn of good Unicorns and F91s. Those two suits seemed very popular.

The DLC support leads me to believe FB on consoles is a looooong way out. I'm guessing December 2013 :/

Yup, doesn't seem like any time soon... especially if there's still a long list of arcade unlocks as well.

Here's to hoping they sprinkle more love into vanilla until then.

Also, a 2000¥ pack with last year's DLC (six suits) will be made available on the same day.

Well shit. One part of my mind is kicking myself because I could have just waited and got all 6 suits for 2000 yen instead of paying 2000 for the four DLC suits I got.

On the other hand... If I had waited, I would not have experienced the immaculate experience that is Katejina. I'm torn.

I don't know how time-limited this is, but japan-codes has a slight discount on JP PSN cards right now. Just bought 1000 myself for the 2 suits.

Weird to have an update this late when Full Boost has been out for a good while now. Why can't the update be full boost instead, heh *dreams on* ;_;.

Full Boost was by far the most popular thing I saw in every arcade that had it. That and Jubeat.

(ponpo confirmed for top tier taste)

My PS+ subscription expires in 2 days, but I'm gonna resubscribe just because it downloaded the new patch automatically and I was able to play with the new suits pretty much as soon as I woke up.

Only played around at a really basic level with both suits for about 10 minutes total, but I think I like GP03 a little more. Xi's beam rifle seems to recharge real fast though. Xi also moves kind of slow by default, but it has a faster-moving mode that charges up from the beginning.

Yeah, GP-03 is really fun. Xi is all about dat missile spam. :D

Okay, finally managed to try out the new DLC units for myself.

GP03 seems fun, but it really needs a good partner to fully capitalize, it seems. Getting down the timing to do one bazooka shot instead of two isn't too bad (I say this now, but let's see how hard it is on Dun.net scenarios), but the demolition chain has the wonkiest hit detection and the beam cannon is powerful, pivots slightly, but has a ridiculously long start up. Other than that, GP03 has tons of missiles and bazookas that can juggle enemies before they can recover in mid air. If you're playing GP03 fairly close, you can follow up with a lot of melee this way. But if you have a good melee partner, GP03 can do some pretty sick set-ups. Its EX Burst is quite stylish, and GP03 does have a lot of ways to hit confirm into it. Too bad you can get cut pretty easily while using it.

Xi is kinda... odd. Its CSb missile spam is almost like the ZZ's CSa missile spam in the sense that it looks flashy, but its probably not going to hit anyone. But other than that, it seems like its Minvosky Craft mode blocks beams and adds some additional evasion maneuvers while lasting a decent amount of time. Beam rifle has a decent charge, but the key is that each BR shot also launches out two missiles (I don't know if there is an ammo limit for the missiles, because at times, no missiles would actually come out). So yeah, missile spam is Xi's thing. Hell, in some situations, the missile spam can actually cause the game to slow down.

GP-03 has good tracking at range but it's incredibly easy to run out of ammo. None of it's weapons start reloading until empty. If you are playing range and you don't make your shots count your damage output will be rather low. I'd prefer to play it up close, but it's melee is rather average. The large portion of it's 2.5k cost seems to be made up by the mega beam cannon. So kind of feels like I am doing something wrong if I am not making use of it at every opportunity.

That female gundam with the skirt onegai.

Banshee was dumb when I played it in FB. I don't like that it's weird glowey mode activates automatically and interrupts whatever you were doing.

How big is the community if I want to play with Westerners?

[edit]Oops... meant to post this in the other thread, but the question stands! :p

It's there. You have about 10-12 of us here in Gundam GAF that regularly play. We hang around in IRC on espernet @ #gundamgaf. There's also the Facebook group that has a lot of players there as well. http://www.facebook.com/groups/extremevsusa/

You can usually get a match from any of those groups if you ask. :)

Of course, there's the JP community and they're pretty big, although pretty insular. If you're connection is red to them, auto-kicked. There's also having people with certain win percentages, etc. But if you happen to be in Japan or have a good connection to them, good on ya!
