Anyone that doesn't think MS is making a huge mistake needs to only look at Nintendo and Wii U.

Nintendo were silent on game releases and specs, and when you do so, the public will fill in the missing details with negativity which will last throughout the generation even if te initial reports or rumors were wrong.

I'm irritated with it too. We don't live in the age of 'wait and see' anymore. It's 2013, not 2005. People like information. Hell, GTA info is driving me crazy but it is what it is.

No matter how false/true rumors are, the stuff flying around now causes me to be reluctant and only tarnishes a generally positive image that I have of them.

All we can do is wait, but the longer they wait the MORE they will have to offer to win me over. I imagine I am the last person they are interested in though with the recent focus on Kinect.

I just don't get this. I mean, you didn't go overboard and say you weren't buying it but this is getting ridiculous. I don't feel they have tarnished anything at this point.

I don't think this is such a big problem for Microsoft. We still don't have actual confirmation of these damning rumors. Besides, things can easily change in an instant, and it seems like we won't need to wait much longer anyway. For all we know, the always online stuff may have been taken out of context; there may be exceptions to it. Although, I expect BC will not be available which sucks for a lot of 360 owners out there who would like to trade in their consoles toward the purchase of the Xbox and/or get rid of console clutter.

I'm not saying Xbox 720 will be a bag of sunshine and rainbows (every console has its share of issues), but I don't think Microsoft will completely shoot itself in the foot like some of these rumors are suggesting it has. We shall see.

The attention is still on Durango is it not? Bad press is still bringing the attention to the box. If MS reveals a good machine that kills these rumors and is roughly equivalent to the PS4, they will have momentum. Otherwise it will just be confirmed then everyone can start their whining.

And that's just why MS doesn't bother giving an answer to the rumors... they can "make all of this go away" anytime they want, right now, or in a month, or two.
