I played about two hours of this yesterday and streamed it.

It's awesome of course. Still, framerates are terrible like RO2. I'm running a 670, and I'm trying to figure out why my FPS only sits at 30-50.

Weird, 2-3 months of patching RO2 I got a solid 60 with everything maxed on my 6950 and I'm having no trouble getting 60 with my 680 now. Turn down post processing to low, that supposedly helps.

I tried adding 4xMSAA and 2xSGSSAA with the Nvidia inspector settings on the last page. But I seem to get some crazy graphic glitches with it. Character models stretching over the entire screen and stuff.

I must say, the 1911 is extremely satisfying to use. Massive kick, great sound and when you get a kill it surges through the body.

But as a general opinion on the game ... No idea why I bought it. I hate, hate, hate the pacific setting.

Banzai charge is nuts. Quite unnerving in some of the maps.

The flamethrower is also nuts. Seeing it spray like crazy in the brush on Guadalcanal at night is something that every gamer should be able to witness.

Overall it feels like a slick and oiled RO2. The guns are still incredibly satisfying and when the team is working together there is almost nothing else like it. Having a commander call out recon planes and where to avoid map sections is always helpful.

I banzai charged into a group of Marines yesterday and the flamethrower guy got so scared he opened fire (literally) burning his whole group in the process :lol

I laughed so hard after that

I just played on a game with what I think is the best commander I've ever had in any game. He led our team to victory 4 games in a row before I left. Very calm, kept us updated at all times where we were needed. And the compliments he gave us, oh so many compliments.

Flame thrower is great. Me and some other Japanese were covering a point when a flamethrower appeared. He proceeded to mow 5 of us down.
Love the flamethrower but the range is quite ridiculous on that thing, needs a bit of balancing. Wikipedia says 20m effective range but I got killed instantly from afar. Flamers should also set themselves on fire more easily. Currently they can camp in corners on Axis attack maps and just burn away at 0m. Due to instant kill you can't even stab the guy.

Apart from that the balancing works surprisingly well, although I'd wish for a bit more recoil and sway on most of the guns.

Yep, when it works it WORKS. Such a great game and now performs like a charm for me on my measly 5850 and AMD quadcore.

This game, man. This game.

RO2 has always been super satisfying when landing a kill. It feels good to see that message pop up. Not like most MP shooters these days where killing an adversary just happens.

Also, DAT BULLET DROP.

Downloading the beta now - how the hell is this nearly 18GB in size??? The graphics in RO2 were atrocious. Did they go crazy with the art assets??

I think that the beta includes all of RO2's multiplayer component as well. At least the final game is going to.

As far as beta's go, RS is in significantly better shape than the RO2 beta. Bug wise, its in good shape and the balancing seems to be coming along well so far, too. I'm wondering if we'll recieve any more maps on release; I hoping so.

Xfire is giving keys out right now, just got one through them.

www.xfire.com and log in then keys.xfire.com

Grabbed a key, thank you. I bought Red Orchestra 2 and enjoyed it (though for some reason the beta seemed more stable than the actual 1.0 version), didn't like most of the maps though and the game ended up being relatively dead rather quickly. I've played the Rising Storm beta for a couple of hours now and am pleasantly surprised. I'm still not sure whether or not I should pre-oder the game though. I'm still mad about how Tripwire handled the release of Red Orchestra 2.

Damn I am loving the beta. Just had an epic match on Guadalcanal. Was allies and the Axis only got as far as C. Was so intense fending off each and every push. We held C like champs though even with like picture perfect artillery from Axis, we were able to hold down C till like 2 mins then with no reinforcements left, we fell back to the line behind D till time ran out.

There's nothing else out that that I've played where each battle is so intense and satisfying. It's espcially awesome when the team is communicating, granted I need to do more of that myself but most times there's more than enough guys on the mic helping out.

I bought it today after testing the Beta. Amazing improvement over vanilla RO2 imo.
I have 2 beta gifts on steam if anyone wants, pm me your steam name.

Working all weekend. :(

Really enjoying the beta, though. It mostly balances out well despite the US having mostly superior weapons. The flamethrower is an utter bastard, though.

Yep, that one needs balancing. Insta-kill if you get licked by a flame from 40m away is not cool. It should also be easier to set yourself on fire. They can cc kill you without concerns.

I hope they don't touch the flamethrower. It needs to be as menacing as it currently is, imo, and as effective if its going to be of any use clearing out bunkers.

No you need to download it again.

So I've been playing the beta and I enjoy the game a lot. My biggest gripe is probably the movement, every movement, whether it's simply running from a to b, or standing up from a prone, etc, is a gigantic chore. But that's just the kind of game it is, so I'll just have to deal with it. I was disappointed to find out that there won't be any more maps added on full release. Some of the current maps feel like they could get old real fast. My favorite map is Saipan by far. Always prefer the city maps to landscape ones.

Will RO2 be playable if someone purchases RS? Got a friend buying RS, hoping we can play some RO2 too for more variety.

Anyone who purchased RS has access to RO2. The games are being merged together, so you will see servers that rotate the maps seamlessly between the two (though leveling up will still be separate). RO2 owners who haven't purchased RS will still have access to RS, however they will be limited to bolt-action rifles and they won't level up. That way, there's no real splitting of the RO2 community.

!!!

Tripwire schooling "AAA" developers.

Interesting choice on how to distribute the game. I saw the "Rising Storm" banner on Steam a while back and didn't even know it was related to RO2. Just bought it and I'm patiently waiting for it to go live.

Do people who only own RS get full access to RO2?

If you only own Rising Storm, you full access to RO2 multiplayer. You don't get access to RO2 singleplayer, but it's nothing really.

If you only own RO2, you get access to Rising Storm, but are limited to only the rifleman class.

Rifleman class with no stats. I have no idea why people who buy RS get the full RO2 MP but people who bought RO2 only get a limited RS MP. "Those who don't own RO2 don't get the SP." No one does at the moment, they completely removed it from the game until a "later date".

Way to shaft RO2 owners/pre-orderers.

Is there going to be an OT/specific thread for this game? I won't be home for a few days yet, bought it at the pre-order price though because 15/16(don't remember which) for the deluxe edition was too good to pass up.
