So the new Walking Dead episode comes to iOS on July 11th. The first episode of the main game is free on iOS so I assume the new one can be purchased stand alone. That would work for me.

Do telltale games still run like shit on iOS?

I want to like the walking dead, but ran into he usualy telltale issues on the 360 and never finished it.

TWD has been fantastic on iOS. Both iPhone and iPad, even has 4" support.

Having not played Year Walk yet, I have no context; what purpose does the Companion serve, and how/when do I refer to it? I don't want to spoil anything.

Let's just say it enhance the experience and it is integral to the main game; it won't spoil anything.
Just download it...play the game and when you feel it just open the companion app.
The rest will come, don't worry.
Again, it's an awesome game, highly recommended.

Soooo... yeah, just spent like 2 days solid playing Quadropus Rampage.

It's a roguelike action game with unlockable persistent upgrades and perks, and a diablo-style weapon system with rarity tiers and random stats. It kinda reminds me of Binding of Isaac, but definitely unique. Controls are great too.

Oh, and it's free

Was looking at this briefly last month but passed on it due to its artstyle.
I'll give it another go and not judge an app by its cover.

Thinking about moving all my music over to my old phone just so I can play on my iPhone 5 since it's the most powerful iDevice I own (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPhone 5)

When does IGN launch their "Free Game of the Month" thing?

I'm so sickened I missed out on Horn.

Been loving Xcom on the iPad. I'm not normally big on strategy, but it's keeping me hooked.

Yeah me too, I'm only stopping play when it crashes and I notice that I only have 20% battery left :p

Conversely, I'm doing way shitter at this iPad version than I was on the 360. Not even attacked the first proper base yet and I've lost 3 countries from the program and have another 2 on the verge of going. I think I was too slow getting my satellites up. This game may well end in disaster yet.

Huh. I restarted the campaign last night because I neglected that side of things completely and then saw dire consequences. I was playing it with my usual 'bull in a china shop' levels of finesse, but now I'm playing it 'properly' I like it even more. Dreading the death of my first soldier though, I was just treating them as fodder before.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Broken Sword 2 on ipad, any good?

No one in here praised it and the only thing I've heard is that it's IAP model is a horrible cash grab.

That's pretty far from the truth, it's the same as it's always been, you can avoid the IAP entirely, all decks unlock through gameplay (though lots of it), and for the campaign etc they're completely unneeded. The whole sealed deck thing you can just look at as a bonus or work in progress, you get 2 slots to draft cards compared to 0 last year. General impressions I've seen are the iOS version is better than last year's iOS version, and general impressions of Magic 2014 itself are that the game overall is worse than Magic 2013 version (as the decks are much plainer/weaker/less exciting).

I've only played a small bit of the PC version, so I won't vouch for the game, but I wouldn't let people's bitter tears from the way the sealed drafting works stand in your way, unless that is the only aspect of the game you're interested in, which again, was completely absent in the past, so in that regard having limited exposure is still an improvement to none at all.

I've got quite a high soldier turnover, I usually get at least one death per level and I just barrel on through it, hire a newbie and get on with the job. I just want plasma weapons on my dudes, then I'll feel happy and safe.

Hmm. I think it has a few glaring UI flaws but the core game is rock solid as always. You get a decent selection of 10 decks to play with and they even included the option for players to adjust land counts in their decks this year. While IAP for sealed slots is not great, you still get a lot of value for your 10 bucks regardless of that.

I am waiting on Hearthstone for my TCG fix.

Don't forget about Hex either, that looks like it could be amazing. Hell, its got a deck testing tool for seeing what hands you will draw!

Edit: And it will actually have legitimate drafting for cheap. :)

No it doesn't. Well it's really half ass implemented.

How is it half-assed? The game fills up the entirety of the 4" screen, no black boxing.

Edit: I'm currently enjoying Fightback (out in Canada at the moment, softlaunch). It's made by Ninja Theory.
Gameplay: http://youtu.be/dOz9Ub2weXs

Re: Fightback, It looks ok, I just wish more iOS devs would get serious about menu / UI design, so many of them (and it's usually the freemium ones) look like someone vomited an old Atari ST UI into a bowl of "modern" gloss and smeared it on my iPad. So busy, so messy, so many fonts...

Minimalist, flat, subtle, intuitive, these are words they need to learn.

What's Fightback like? I'm not fan of Ninja Theory games (though Heavenly Sword was ok) but it looks quite fun. Any news when it comes out worldwide? I dont know if I want to bother with switching accounts...

Also I've been also wondering, I've downloaded Star Command via Free App Slots through US store, but if the update ever comes out (about the SC update...) and I'm on European account do I need to switch back to even get notified about the update or does it come up no bother?

weeeird. Just booted it up and it seems full widescreen. Pretty sure it wasn't after I updated the app a while back... hmmm... I do recall sometimes apps are wonky after update until you reboot. I guess this is an excuse for me to finally finish this :)

If you've signed in on your "other-region" account on your device once it remembers that and will update those apps as well even when you're signed into another Apple ID. The caveat is that the app you're updating has to be available in the store your active Apple ID belongs to.

Good news so, thank you! Now... let's hope Star Command gets the needed update soon...

Good job with the iOS7 look OP.

Thank you! :)

Added Limbo in prep for 'tomorrow'. As there's no real official synopsis other than that singular line description, I added a piece from the GiantBomb XBLA review for some gameplay context to those unfamiliar with the game.
This is a sublime game, I played it through on XBLA myself; a genius puzzle-platformer with a near unprecedented amount of creepy atmosphere. I haven't tested the iOS port yet but hear it is equally great on the platform. Looking forward to the GAF impressions.

Trailer

Requires at least iPad 2, iPhone 4S or iPod touch (5th gen) - or newer.

GiantBomb XBLA review which gave 5/5 said:
In the simplest terms, Limbo is a side-scrolling action game featuring a little boy looking for his sister in the big spooky forest. I only know that from reading a descriptive blurb somewhere; beyond the menus, the game itself uses no words (written or spoken) to communicate any sort of story. It doesn't even have real music, just a sublimely rendered ambient soundscape. And it doesn't need any of that stuff. You wake up in the woods, and off you go into an increasingly weird, oppressive, sinister dream world. Your sole occupation is to run left to right and try to avoid all the myriad ways this awful wilderness is trying to kill you, and the game focuses all of its efforts on enabling that single objective.

You won't manage to avoid most of those dangers the first time, because so much of Limbo's action centers on brutally immediate, unforgiving environmental hazards.

Hah this explains the random error messages I sometimes get when I try to update.

First reports indicate that Limbo port (ie controls) is phenomenal.
I have the game on 360 but played ages ago only the first part...so I really can't wait to download it on my iPad and sink in it in bed with headphones.
I'll report as soon as possible (still hate this 'timelined' AppStore publishing thing).

Just a heads up, Bastion is currently just 1 dollar.
It's an AMAZING PORT of an AMAZING GAME, everyone should have it at any price IMHO.
On iPad it's a fantastic experience.

Speaking of which, did the devs reveal any plans for releasing Transistor on iOS?

Ok back again on this game, people should try it out. It's quirky, brilliant, and very addicting. Just sat pretty much an hour straight with this.

"Bastion-esque" level planes you can fall off the edge from (remember ToeJam & Earl? that sort of thing), combat pets, weapon upgrade drops, persistent character upgrades/skills bought with in-game currency accrued during gameplay. Free with IAPs (said in-game currencies).

I'm contemplating putting it in the OP as a "late-discover" (and Magic 2014 ye?) Thoughts? I see the OP as crowd-sourced more than what "I want" there. :)

I think it's pretty much a given, seeing the success that Bastion has seen on the platform.

been playing colin mcrae rally iOS a lot this week, I like it as I loved mcrae 2.0 but you can tell they gave it a new engine and just used some assets, the cars do not feel as powerful as they did in 2.0 and some of the textures are redone which is better and less low res.

Much better handling then the F1 game they spat out 2 years ago, that has the worst handling ever and it's been through about a dozen patches, gladly they nailed mcrae rally with the first pass.
