Well it's not entirely a usefull feature if you've already got a wifi connection near your house.

But the big problem is it voids the warranty, something really not worth risking with the launch hardware.

Well my PSP already gets a better signal than my buddies laptop. I guess this would only be useful for those trying to steal bandwidth from someone else.
